Living up to their name as usual.

www.pinknews.co.uk/2019/01/06/desmond-is-amazing-drag-kid-gay-bar/

Plenty of people calling them out about it on Twitter.

OP posts:
hollyhzd · 11/01/2019 09:39

Ugh poor kid, he looks so unwell.

MargueritaPink · 12/01/2019 03:10

His mother is an idiot. Note the repeated use of "conservative"- as if being conservative is innately bad and only evil conservatives would object to this.

Terfing · 12/01/2019 06:49

Some good news: there are currently over 100 complaints of child abuse being investigated.

How can it ever be acceptable for a young child to be dancing and singing for money in a bar?

He is a child.

NotMeOhNo · 12/01/2019 07:46

Bloody hell. I almost feel sorry for Pink News. The comments below the article have been colonised by aggressive right wing homophobic nutters.

AngryAttackKittens · 12/01/2019 07:53

Please will someone give that kid some food and ensure that he gets a good night's sleep? A child that age shouldn't look that worn out.

Pink News really doesn't know when to back off and admit that just because conservative object to something doesn't mean you should automatically take the exact opposite position. I'm a leftie too. It's still not OK for children to perform in nightclubs or pose naked with random adults and have those photos published.

On the "it's only because he's gay that people are objecting" angle, do they not remember the public backlash to the naked photos of a similarly aged Brooke Shields?

AngryAttackKittens · 12/01/2019 07:55

And yes, I know that in this case it's the adult who's naked. Do they think that makes it OK? Because nope.

Terfing · 12/01/2019 08:15

Is Desmond gay though? I haven't heard him say this.

GCSocScientist · 12/01/2019 08:30

Why do we think Desmond is gay or straight..why would anyone attribute a sexual orientation to a child. Confused

AngryAttackKittens · 12/01/2019 08:32

Don't blame me, blame Penis News.

GCSocScientist · 12/01/2019 08:47

Desmond is being pimped out to male homosexuals (and others who hide behind that acceptable facade) by his parents.

He is typical of most sex workers, he and his parents are under financial duress. He is the only earner in his household (neither of his parents work) and therefore has even less agency as an impoverished young child.

That Pink news and Out can’t see this shows how dangerous mainstream LGBQT ideology is for children's rights and their safeguarding.

I’ve been a lefty all my life but this kinda stuff tips me right over the edge.

GCSocScientist · 12/01/2019 08:49

Sorry angrykittens, I didn’t mean that to be directed at you. My bad.

AngryAttackKittens · 12/01/2019 08:54

It was the interview with Michael Alig that made me go, OK, what parent thinks that letting their child sit down with a convicted murder to talk about ketamine use is a good idea?

GCSocScientist · 12/01/2019 09:02

Some parents don’t give a damn about their kids welfare. Most of us can’t fathom this.

Desmond is bringing in the goods and the pedos in drag culture are only happy to oblige.

Victoriapestis · 14/01/2019 21:02

I’ve only just become aware of this poor child and can barely believe even the most brainwashed journalist at pink news can’t see this for what it is. Why isn’t this being covered by eg Andrew Gilligan? Why isn’t it front page news? And what on earth has happened to New York child protection services if they think this is fine?

In my experience 10 year old boys like a huge range of things.

Gardening.
Cooking.
Minecraft.
Looking after animals.
Painting.
Tree climbing.
Pottery.
Star gazing.
Star Wars.
The PS4.
Museums.
Lego.
Writing stories.
Building dens.
Dr Who.
Reading comics and books.
Eating sweets.
And so on and on and on.
(All things that girls like too, not oddly at all.)

But in decades of parenting and aunting and godmothering I have never ever ever met a 10 year old boy who likes hanging out with adults, as the only child, wearing uncomfortable clothes, and dancing on bars. Who freely chooses to dance on tables for adults.

This poor little boy surely needs help and protection. Why is it acceptable to display him in this way?

AlwaysComingHome · 19/04/2019 14:38

Jesus, I’ve seen the latest photos on KF and the arms on this child are so skeletal I wasn’t even sure they WERE arms at first..

AlwaysComingHome · 19/04/2019 14:39

I won’t even post the pics here. They are quite distressing.

GeordieGenes · 19/04/2019 15:25

Is Desmond on puberty-blockers?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 19/04/2019 15:30

I don’t know if anyone else was getting a pop up of a film of a toddler running up to a drag queen (looks like they were in a supermarket) and handing him a dollar. What was that all about?

CallMeWoman · 19/04/2019 15:52

Anyone who claims we don't hypersexualise children in our society - have a look at the mainstream response to the blatant pimping of this child. This is appalling.

Melroses · 19/04/2019 16:08

I have that video too Confused

Melroses · 19/04/2019 16:12

His legs Sad

StopThePlanet · 19/04/2019 22:56

I get that he likes to perform, lots of kids love the attention and like to perform. The content of performances matter - drag is adult entertainment. And having your kid perform at a bar any bar where cell phones must be checked at the door or carried around in a sealed bag cannot be a safe or good environment for children - regardless if they're allowed in the main bar area or not.

I enjoy drag shows when done well. When I go out with my friends we mostly go to gay/lesbian clubs... this isn't about gay people or lesbian people or even transgender people. It's about exploitation of a child.

One of the songs that Desmond performs is:

Asking For It

Every time that I sell myself to you I feel a little bit cheaper than I need to

I will tear the petals off of you Rose red, I will make you tell the truth

Was she asking for it?
Was she asking nice?
If she was asking for it
Did she ask you twice?

Every time that I stare into the sun
Angel dust and my dress just comes undone
Every time that I stare into the sun
Be a model or just look like one
Wild eye rot gut do me in
Do you think you can make me do it again?

Was she asking for it?
Was she asking nice?
If she was asking for it
Did she ask you twice?

If you live through this with me
I swear that I would die for you
And if you live through this with me
I swear that I would die for you

Was she asking for it?
Was she asking nice?
If she was asking for it
Did she ask you twice?

Was she asking for it?
Was she asking nice?
If she was asking for it
Did she ask you twice?

Song by Hole

I enjoy Hole's music but it is not for prepubescent children. The lyrics are intense - you can tell what this particular song is about - you don't need to read between the lines. Angry and painful exclamations of protest through adult concepts and phrasing should be above children's heads and are not meant to be performed by children.

StopThePlanet · 19/04/2019 22:59

In the US child sexual exploitation (CSE) is defined/represented as follows:

Sexual exploitation can involve a range of crimes, including forcing or coercing a child/youth to participate in sex acts, pornography, street-based prostitution, internet-based exploitation, stripping, erotic massage, phone sex lines, interfamilial pimping, or survival sex. Some of these crimes may involve giving money or something of value to the child or another person. All of these acts take advantage of the imbalance of power between an adult and a child. This targeted exploitation, objectification, and violence is child abuse; it is illegal and has significant impacts for the victim, families, and the community at large.

DancingRaven · 20/04/2019 11:42

I love that song by Hole (written by Kurt apparently) but wholly inappropriate for a child!
