I get that he likes to perform, lots of kids love the attention and like to perform. The content of performances matter - drag is adult entertainment. And having your kid perform at a bar any bar where cell phones must be checked at the door or carried around in a sealed bag cannot be a safe or good environment for children - regardless if they're allowed in the main bar area or not.
I enjoy drag shows when done well. When I go out with my friends we mostly go to gay/lesbian clubs... this isn't about gay people or lesbian people or even transgender people. It's about exploitation of a child.
One of the songs that Desmond performs is:
Asking For It
Every time that I sell myself to you I feel a little bit cheaper than I need to
I will tear the petals off of you Rose red, I will make you tell the truth
Was she asking for it?
Was she asking nice?
If she was asking for it
Did she ask you twice?
Every time that I stare into the sun
Angel dust and my dress just comes undone
Every time that I stare into the sun
Be a model or just look like one
Wild eye rot gut do me in
Do you think you can make me do it again?
Was she asking for it?
Was she asking nice?
If she was asking for it
Did she ask you twice?
If you live through this with me
I swear that I would die for you
And if you live through this with me
I swear that I would die for you
Was she asking for it?
Was she asking nice?
If she was asking for it
Did she ask you twice?
Was she asking for it?
Was she asking nice?
If she was asking for it
Did she ask you twice?
Song by Hole
I enjoy Hole's music but it is not for prepubescent children. The lyrics are intense - you can tell what this particular song is about - you don't need to read between the lines. Angry and painful exclamations of protest through adult concepts and phrasing should be above children's heads and are not meant to be performed by children.
