www.thetimes.co.uk/article/revealed-flood-of-twitter-users-back-paedophilia-qxjfddxv7

I don't subscribe so can't do share token.

However - those of us who do use Twitter are aware of the onslaught there has recently been on self-proclaimed paedophiles on Twitter. It's very worrying indeed - these people are demanding 'acceptance'.

Yes, twitter is looking horrible right now. Lots of #map and #nomap posters who are up front about what age children they are sexual attracted to.

Yet I've just been suspended merely for saying "Jon×××××× Yanxx is a man who talks about young teenage girls a lot".

The silencing of GC women who are concerned about safeguarding children, compared to the free rein paedophiles seem to be allowed is quite frankly horrifying.

If these people achieve their aims of getting into our women only spaces its absolutely terrifying.

Only yesterday I went to a swimming pool where everyone (note - mainly men) wash at the poolside after their swim. One man was fiddling around inside his shorts and a lifeguard told me that was fine when I complained.

AngryAttackKittens · 06/01/2019 12:37

Is Cantor pro TRA too? His name seems familiar.

And yes, many of us warned that this would happen. TRAs have created a blueprint for manipulating public opinion and pushing organizations into altering their policies that other groups can follow, and now they are. This thread will most likely get deleted, because it's apparently against the spirit etc. to point out that pedos are using the same tactics even though there's evidence of pedos discussing among themselves how they plan to use the same tactics.

The only solution that I can see is for the general public, and organizations, to learn to recognize manipulation when they see it and start saying no. Not getting what you want, when what you want would harm others, makes you sad? Too bad.

GCAcademic · 06/01/2019 12:45

Cantor is based in Canada. What the hell is going on in that country?

FamilyOfAliens · 06/01/2019 13:00

”Just a reminder that not all CP [child porn] involves children being abused.”

They think there’s such a thing as “child porn”? They’re disgusting.

AngryAttackKittens · 06/01/2019 13:01

They mean lolicon/shota. Which, sure, technically there are no children involved since it's drawn or animated, but in terms of normalization it's pretty damn dangerous.

ToeToToe · 06/01/2019 13:22

I've just been discussing this with DH - and I said 'so, how was the PIE thing in 70s stopped?' and he said 'well, a load of them were arrested, weren't they?' And indeed they were - Peter Righton, for example.

DH has (v carefully) googled it - this article was published in 2014:
www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/looking-back-to-the-great-british-paedophile-infiltration-campaign-of-the-1970s-9155610.html

Exactly the same tactics going on here. PIE never really went away. Getting the "P" added onto the LGBTQ alphabet soup... exactly the thing the PIE were trying to do in the 70s - attach itself to a libertarian/minority rights movement. They centred the campaign on "child's rights" - as opposed to campaigning for adults to have sex with children - which is far more likely to have the public up in arms.

But it is always about normalising children having sexual relationships, and abolishing the age of consent - and claiming that paedophilia in itself is not harmful. "NOMAPs" is just the latest incarnation.

Note that O'Carroll was brought down by a News of the World exposé - I was among those cheering at the demise of the NOTW - but you know, that sort of investigative journalism is still very much needed.

Good comments underneath the article

Vegilante · 06/01/2019 17:59

noblegiraffe The article says “It is believed that the deluge of anonymous pro-paedophilia accounts on Twitter was orchestrated by users of the controversial message board 4chan.”

The phrase "it is believed" is a fudge. As discussed in the extensive thread here about MAPs on Twitter from the past few days, it's not clear what's going on. The Times needs to dig a bit deeper.

AngryAttackKittens · 06/01/2019 18:07

4chan is amorphous and anonymous and therefore it's difficult to prosecute on the basis of anything discussed there. I'm guessing that if a bit of digging was done some less anonymous, more trackable sites where this was orchestrated could be found.

GTFO with putting paedophilia under the LGBT umbrella. There is no sexual and human right to enable any adult to sexually abuse and rape children.

NewYearBetterHealth · 06/01/2019 20:19

I seem to remember a radio 4 program about befrienders of convicted paedophiles. And the surprising thing was that befriending, and family support dramatically cuts reoffending. Those whose families cut them off (my inclination in theory) were almost certain to reoffend.
So it makes sense for non offending paedophiles and hebephiles to have a support network, have people they can be honest with, so children don't get hurt.
However, twitter and other public forums are not that place.
I am utterly disgusted with Twitter. Child abuse does not need normalising.

NewYearBetterHealth · 06/01/2019 20:22

Here we go news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/8611279.stm

Reduces reoffending by 70%!

Currently on Twitter, the defenders of those demanding 'acceptance' of Paedophiles within LGBT+ are bleating "Don't you want them to get help?" As if "help" can only be "got" if the P is normalised via acceptance.

We fucking see them.

OP posts:
noblegiraffe · 06/01/2019 20:27

They can be added to the LGBT umbrella, and then they can march at Pride. See how that goes.

NewYearBetterHealth · 06/01/2019 20:31

There is a difference in targeted support for non offending purposes, and general acceptance. A bit like the difference between an AA meeting, and a load of people joking about how much they put away last weekend. Except much much worse.
Appalling

ChewyLouie · 06/01/2019 20:40

If many are labelling themselves as lesbians as someone says above at the same time as men in drag who are normally associated with the gay scene are reading library stories to children, what will be the result? Lesbians get lumped with the paedos and gay men are recast as motherly role models. They are following the well used TRA tactic - hide behind the women. Despicable.

GTFO with putting paedophilia under the LGBT umbrella

THIS!

Cantor was bleating some nonsense about ot being scientifically proven that paedophilia was innate/couldn’t be helped and therefore should be put in with LGBT. But there is no logical reason for all sexualities to be shoved into that grouping. Lesbian and gay couples are consenting adults. If they’re in a relationship, it’s visible. So it’s important that such visibility does not impact upon their human rights.

Other groups/sexualities, such as asexuality or fetishes can be exercised completely in private, therefore no visibility, therefore no public disadvantage. Paedophilia should not be acted on at all, therefore no chance of loss of job or housing problems which would require legal protection.

Or is the suggestion that we must all be able to publically reveal what goes on inside our heads when we’re turned on without reprisals? Why should that be necessary? I get that it might be easier if everyone could talk with absolute honesty, but it’s not the same as being same sex attracted, but having to hide it for no logical reason.

arranbubonicplague · 06/01/2019 22:02

radio 4 program about befrienders of convicted paedophiles. And the surprising thing was that befriending, and family support dramatically cuts reoffending.

I remember reading about a befriending programme like that - possibly involving very active church members - and it was very successful but ultimately unsustainable beyond a certain number because it was so resource intensive.

Vegilante · 06/01/2019 22:51

feminist OMG, that story is appalling! Please leave that on the thread about the Drag Queen Story Hour/Time for little kids as well.

indieshuffle · 07/01/2019 08:38

NewYearBetterHealth I am all for preventative measures being taken, but the trouble is that whilst any befriending groups may have benefits, these groups are also highly susceptible to infiltration by other paedophiles (since we know this is how they operate) and reduced reoffending could also be attributed to a better network keeping the crimes secret, or of managing behaviour in other ways.

IMO, groups that seek to help in this way this need proper and rigorous professional supervision, including by the police and MH professionals, and probably including random surveillance. It is the only way you can make sure that the groups don't get corrupted.

And the psychological pressure by many abusers to normalise their behaviour is relentless.

indieshuffle · 07/01/2019 08:41

Cantor is reprehensible. There are ways to argue for prevention, but what he is tweeting just smacks of (alarming) self interest to me.

Vegilante · 07/01/2019 10:20

Re the issue of many MAPs being young (or claiming to be): the article feministfairy linked to above is about drag queen Crystal Couture, a paedophile convicted of 4 counts of boy child rape when Couture was 15 or 16. Couture went on the defy the court's order to stay away from kids, getting jobs teaching them dance & gymnastics.

The new craze for boys becoming kiddie & teenage drag queens (Desmond, Lactacia & Jamie of the stage show & movie fame) is looking more & more suspect. Same goes for those supposedly fun, fabulous & innocent Drag Queen Story Time events now being held in schools & libraries for tots.
