Also my DP brother is an MD in A&E and has been coming across more people latest who state they're "female" when they're just a cock in a frock and he gets annoyed and reminds them that male and female mean real things.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 28/12/2018 13:02

Buck Angel landed up in ITU with sepsis because his testosterone regime caused such vaginal atrophy that his vagina glued itself together - creating a pool of goo in his uterus that went nasty.

Poor bastard almost died. No one had thought about the effect of putting a female sexed body into menopause with the use of testosterone.

These female sexed transmen are going to have osteoporosis and heart disease. And stuck together fannies which itch, sting and hurt. It's not ethical.

Scientistagainsttranscult · 28/12/2018 13:06

"Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past."

Gileswithachainsaw · 28/12/2018 13:09

science

Ironic how one well known activist is in fact a Dr themselves.

Am I right in remembering a blunder like this almost killed someone. Something to do with levels of enzymes or something in the blood. That in a female the results would be borderline normal. But in a male they were extremely high/low and dangerous. ? Something like that anyway.

Its already been established that women are sent home and told to suck it up when in fact they are seriously ill. More than men. How on earth can we continue to measure these things and how on earth can there he training and campaigns for Drs/first aiders/ carers etc and even the general public with regards to say heart attack symptoms which manifest differently in women when we cant name what we are looking for and in who?

We don't tell all pet owners to look for myxmytosis so cats who identify as rabbits feel included. We tell people to get their rabbits vaccinated.

The nhs is in crisis as it is without having to do irrelevant testing (pregnancy) and cervical exams to appease people and deal witg the inevitable expensive emergency admissions for preventable or at least detectable earlier on illnesses.

Its fucking bonkers.

RedToothBrush · 28/12/2018 13:15

Giles, yes a kidney problem.

RedToothBrush · 28/12/2018 13:19

You need a large quote scientist:

And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed – if all records told the same tale – then the lie passed into history and became truth. 'Who controls the past,' ran the Party slogan, 'controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.' And yet the past, though of its nature alterable, never had been altered. Whatever was true now was true from everlasting to everlasting. It was quite simple. All that was needed was an unending series of victories over your own memory. 'Reality control,' they called it: in Newspeak, 'doublethink.'

Thats why the dead are transed.

Mariotta · 28/12/2018 13:20

This is also why MN is disliked - because it does not follow the same rules as the big social media companies so is a direct threat to their power. Kiwifarms is just entering into this combat zone for ultimately the same reason. And its NOT because of trans rights but something much wider and bigger relating to power and control.

Exactly this.

Bowlofbabelfish · 28/12/2018 13:22

Yeah, basically they used the eGFR (a measure of how well the kidneys are functioning) for the sex the individual self reported. The Male and female reference ranges are different and so treatment was based on the wrong measure - the person had, at the time I read the article, stage four kidney disease which is basically end stage - the kidney does not recover from that.

It’s worth pointing out as well that testosterone given to a female also strains the kidney.

Sex does matter very much sometimes in medicine. Some viruses seem to affect the sexes differently for example. Other conditions present differently in men and women (heart attacks being one example.)
Biology matters.

Which would be fine, for a consenting informed adult to take the hit on their treatment taking longer or things being missed etc

But all this campaigning for it all to be blanket policies well I don't consent to that. It's like a toddler destroying a you. Well if I can't have it neither can you.

Scientistagainsttranscult · 28/12/2018 13:37

Bowlofbabelfish absolutely right. Sex chromosomes have direct effects on different systems that include the renal and even the nervous system. One of the biggest issues at present is that drugs have different effects on male and female and with current long standing drugs, their design and development don't always take that into account, meaning that they react differently in male and female. That's why it's been important and progress to be able to perform clinical trials that have equal specific sex data to work with. The denial of biology is ludicrous. We have 2 sexes that are designed to produce one of two gametes that are required for continuation of the species. This is the true throughout mammals. There are no "other" sexes, there are conditions and disorders which can create anomalies but they do not include fully formed men saying they "feel" like women.

Bowlofbabelfish · 28/12/2018 13:42

I’m very interested in which clinical trial CRO or sponsor is pushing inclusivity like that. It’d be enough to sink a trial - there’s a huge economic and safety pressure against it

Tanith · 28/12/2018 14:11

I can remember Peter Tatchell being quietly dropped like a hot potato years ago when his...preferences...became more widely known.

I see Julie Bindel has a long memory Smile

Scientistagainsttranscult · 28/12/2018 15:13

Bowlofbabelfish I will ask my friend when I speak to them whether I can mention even vague details without it having implications for them.

Bowlofbabelfish · 28/12/2018 16:03

Don’t get them into trouble - they’ll have signed all kinds of non disclosures.

Bowlofbabelfish · 28/12/2018 16:04

That sounded like I’m telling you off . I’m not, obviously Grin

deepwatersolo · 28/12/2018 16:33

Thank you for the YouTube link R0wantrees, listened to the whole interview, Corinna comes across as very thoughtful, gave me new perspectives. Smile

Scientistagainsttranscult · 28/12/2018 16:34

Haha I know 😂 I'll see if there is anything I can hint though. This is the problem though. No one is confident enough to speak out about this and feel their career won't be ruined merely over an opposing opinion of one issue, that at times is unrelated. It's madness. I commenced another post grad as a mature to switch to animal biosciences as working with and about humans is becoming impossible while being able to maintain some personal integrity, unless you're in a secured, industry renowned or respected or tenured position. It's like everywhere has been corrupted. Makes me think my son's theory on what's happening with the LHC and quantum mechanics and that it's like a software programme we're in that has a virus, isn't so far off the mark.

Bowlofbabelfish · 28/12/2018 17:15

Tenure? A rare beast these days. Not even dead man’s shoes anymore... another reason I left.

NotBadConsidering · 29/12/2018 11:29

I just googled the name and Miranda’s blog was the top hit. I wonder if that happens wherever you are?

I think it's obvious Yaniv has bought twitter followers. Can you buy or automise search engine hits?

Ereshkigal · 29/12/2018 11:53

Did someone say "Streisand"?

OlennasWimple · 29/12/2018 12:03

Miranda's blog is the top hit for me too (and I'm a long way from any of you lot), but I think that's because I have previously visited his site many times before - and accessed the page directly - so Google cleverly puts it top for me

Scientistagainsttranscult · 29/12/2018 12:10

Absolutely the Streisand effect Ereshkigal. Also aiding it is the fact that we ensure that his name and activity is being speak on as many social media outlets as possible. He can't stop them all and we're not in Canada so what's he gonna do? Sue us for using his own words and public pictures. He can run but he can't hide forever, that goes for them all. The tide is turning and their days are numbered!

AngryAttackKittens · 29/12/2018 12:11

For me search pulls up Miranda's blog as the first hit, Kiwi Farms thread as the third, Reddit GC as the fourth, and a YT video about his abuse of the DMCA process as the fifth. I didn't watch the video, so that's not why it's pulling it up.
