Maybe fir trees are season-fluid and are only ladytrees at Christmas.

Mermaids advice about individual adults keeping a child's disclosures confidential is so wrong. An individual teacher has no idea what a child's confusion about their biological sex represents. It is unthinkable that a teacher would keep this a secret and not share the information with the safeguarding lead
"Keeping Children Safe in Education" repeatedly specifies the importance of information sharing:
22. If staff have any concerns about a child’s welfare, they should act on them immediately and 75. The Data Protection Act 2018 and GDPR do not prevent, or limit, the sharing of information for the purposes of keeping children safe. Fears about sharing information must not be allowed to stand in the way of the need to promote the welfare and protect the safety of children.

Mermaids blether on about Gillick competence - again spectacularly missing the safeguarding point. Individual adults do not make the judgement about Gillick competence - that is done in consultation - sometimes in a school and sometimes in consultation with outside agencies for really difficult cases. A child confused about their biological sex may not be a safeguarding issue. But you can only be certain of this when you've talked this through and an experienced safeguarding professional has reviewed what is known / happening.

Mermaids safeguarding "advice" is exceptionally dangerous displaying profound ignorance of our well developed safeguarding protocols.

Just moments ago as dusk began on the US east coast, very young kids in my house wanted to be the ones to plug in the Christmas tree lights. When instructed to put the prongs in the electric socket, the tree started shrieking that the pronged part is both a lady penis & a male vagina & the socket's just a stupid wall hole.

When the kids reacted with "WTF?" the tree starting screaming about being invalidated, then burst into flames. Now half my house has burned down & Christmas is fucked.

AngryAttackKittens · 23/12/2018 21:03

Mermaid seem to think the child themselves makes the decision about Gillick competence, which, um, no.

Genderists ruined Christmas!

deepwater Amusingly, trees are feminine in Latin (I think all of them but I can’t be sure) but most follow the pattern of 2nd declension masculine nouns (as do a few other nouns of various types), so they ‘look’ masculine to the uninitiated.

‘Fir tree’ is ‘abies’, which is 3rd declension (and feminine) - nouns in the 3rd declension can be masculine or feminine (or neuter) and the m/f ones look exactly the same (I call them non-binary) so I don’t know why those babies were so confused about the gender identity of the fir tree - it wasn’t masquerading as a second declension masculine noun. Perhaps they got confused with pine tree which is ‘pinus’, pronounced very similarly to that thing which definitely doesn’t make you a man, a fun coincidence which is highly amusing to every 14 year old I’ve ever taught.

In pictura est puella nomine Cornelia!

I wonder if TRAs have gotten to the Ecce Romani books yet and inserted updated information about Cornelia's penis and Sextus getting weekly testosterone shots.

I identify as the Singing Ringing Tree.

Thanks everyone for providing background info to the Mermaids statement.

Angry I expect they think the Romans were on the wrong side of history and therefore dismiss everything they did, their entire culture and language.

This is a circular argument. 3 year old knowing what items are ‘male’ or ‘female’ . Well, if the first three years of their lives has been spent ‘teaching’ them what is ‘for girls’ and what is ‘for boys’, hardly surprising. How does this mean that there is an innate awareness of “gender”?
I have a girl and a boy. Both wore trousers and tops, played with the same toys. Fancy dress was pirates, doctors, astronauts, lions and tigers. I watched parents at the same nursery getting nail varnish for their two year olds girls, giving them toy necklaces and telling them they looked beautiful when they dressed up in their princess outfits. While their brothers ran around bashing their friends over the head with toy cars, parents raising eyebrows “boys will be boys”. The Wiley case study actually says that children were told they could look like one thing on the outside and be a different ‘gender’ on the inside. Wtf! So teaching kids that if they look like a girl, but want to play football, that means ‘inside’ they are a boy. ,! ! This doesn’t prove that 3 year olds can be trans. This just proves that twats are fucking up the kids. No wonder kids are suicidal. They don’t need to be trans, they just need to be, and to be accepted. The ignorance, the stupidity.
