I've only seen clips on twitter but it appears that GMB were discussing the rise of children who identify as trans

I saw the clips. Would need to see the whole segment to be sure, but Piers was being very forthright with Monroe, who seems to think 76 trans or genderfluid kids in one Brighton secondary school is cause for rejoicing, nothing to be concerned about there at all, and Stephanie talked very good sense (as I would expect). The comments on Twitter are right behind Piers and Stephanie for the most part.

HandsOffMyRights · 27/11/2018 09:20

I have seen most of the interview. It will be on ITV Player (play at around 7.40am)

It became the MB show. Piers challenged MB a lot. Susannah sat back, said she was fine about changing the word woman to womxn, Piers pointed out Susannah agrees with the trans POV, to which Susannah sat there with an inspid look and then Susannah called herself a feminist!!!!

Stephanie was trying to steer this back to the subject of children. She was really very good, on point, but had to really work to get a word in edgeways.

It was frustrating for males to talk over females and the key issues got lost in the whole womxn debate. But my, did Piers give it some!

MB accused the show of being anti trans and Piers wasn't sure how to address MB at the end.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 27/11/2018 09:22

Piers was very ranty. If I was a tra I would think Munroe acquitted themself very well because Munroe was dignified in the face of Piers' rudeness even if all M came out with was just word salad.
Stephanie did very well and came across as being the normal sensible one with the facts, even if she didn't get many words in.
Piers was doing the 'saying what everybody else really thinks' thing.
I enjoyed watching that...

HandsOffMyRights · 27/11/2018 09:23

The comments on GMB's Twitter feed are very encouraging.

Piers has 4 kids. MB and all the men intent on transing kids do not have children. Don't any of the politicians, groups and schools find that creepy in the slightest?

happydappy2 · 27/11/2018 09:24

Stephanie was brilliant. I can’t understand why MB can not even begin to comprehend that there may be social contagion happening in schools. They are showing themselves as not very bright.

HandsOffMyRights · 27/11/2018 09:25

If you watch it on catch up, keep it playing until after the 8am news. Piers goes on about it again and reads out an email from a parent that hits the nail on the head.

"It's cool to be trans in school."

MsMcWoodle · 27/11/2018 09:31

I haven't watched it all yet - But Stephanie mentioned something about politics in schools that someone on Twitter was saying the other day. Ignore if I've got it wrong or already been discussed, but isn't it against the Education Act to promote a one-sided political agenda in schools?

Can't we use this?

GoulashSoup · 27/11/2018 09:32

I did not see any of this but have just had a very encouraging encounter with three older women at the bus stop in my rural little village this morning.

“It is not often I agree with Piers but I did this morning”

“Yes what a nonsense, how can that many children be gender fluid? It’s all about being trendy, being normal is not enough anymore”

“Yes, did you hear about that school in Brighton?”

So I piped up with the stats from the travistock on the increase in numbers but also the fact that 35% of their referrals are also autistic.

I said that while I don’t really care what people wear or chose to call themselves, it is important that these children are protected and also that women’s rights and spaces are protected too.

One of them had heard about Jessie White and said “Women should be rising up, we should be marching in the streets”

The world is waking up to the reality.

HandsOffMyRights · 27/11/2018 09:40

MsMc. You are right. There was a great post on Mumsnet about this last year, which I used in a letter. I'll see if I can find it.

Oh, MB calls Piers transphobic too. It's supposed to have the Avada kedavara effect I think and stop all of us in our tracks. What was great is Piers didn't humour this and asked if it's transphobic for parents to question this and 76 trans students in one school.

They need new tricks. The genie is out the bottle.

LizzieSiddal · 27/11/2018 09:42

I didn’t see this but saw a bit where Piers was saying we won’t be able call Manchester United/City, or use the word “human” any more as they have the word Man, in them.

The absurdity of this cult is being recognised on a daily basis. We just need those in positions of power to start doing their jobs and speaking out. The Gilligan article about the Brighton sclool said teachers, social workers etc are afraid to speak out. I wonder what can be done to help these people do their jobs properly?!

BelleHathor · 27/11/2018 09:42

Yep, as disagreeable as Piers Morgan may be , he does represent the everyday person. Munroe went back to the typical you are a "White Cis man, transphobic bigot", Piers wasn't having it and exposed MB empty arguements. I'm still laughing from Manchester United being changed to Mxnchester United

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 27/11/2018 09:42

the Avada Kedavra effect

Grin

That basically sums up the whole debating style

MsMcWoodle · 27/11/2018 09:50

HandsOff Thanks - that would be great. I was thinking it might be worth writing to local schools quoting the law?

StrangeLookingParasite · 27/11/2018 09:57

It became the MB show.

Imagine my surprise. Hmm

I found the original thread which talks about the Education Act a few posts in

What's worrying too is that Schools Week promotes Stonewall yet slams TransgenderTrend. It's influential as my son's HT used it in defence of Stonewall.

Please write or email Schools Week to ask whwn they intend to tackle this issue in light of the recent case in Brighton.

Avegemitesandwich · 27/11/2018 10:27

They are still desperately trying to compare this to being gay but as others have said, the world is waking up.

MsMcWoodle · 27/11/2018 10:42

This is really interesting HandsOff. Yes I could read the pics and will now read the thread. Surely this must be something we can use.
Agree that they are trying to compare this to being gay. It's not though. You can change your mind about being gay and being gay does not impact on anyone else or end up with life changing surgery. This is a political movement and children are being indoctrinated.

Datun · 27/11/2018 11:46

Munroe comes across as a zealot. Unwilling to admit that 76 children transitioning as either weird or wrong.

Which is it? Have 76 children got gender dysphoria?

Or are they gender nonconforming? Because we keep being told that gender nonconformity does not mean they are trans. So which is it?

And it cannot have been lost on many people that you have two male bodied individuals arguing over the definition of woman, whilst either ignoring, or shoving their hands in the face of a woman!

Meanwhile Stephanie and Susanna is it, don't get a word in.

Just another pissing contest.

I thought the stonewall definition of trans includes GNC - are there other TRAs who are claiming it shouldn't?
