Recommended by Jo Swinson this morning to celebrate amazing Lib Dem women in the Party over the last 100 years. Top left is a particularly, erm, interesting choice.

It’s a no from me.

LikeDust · 24/11/2018 14:30

Shame they didn't have time to take a female out and put Aimee Challenor in.

Have libdems really had so few women MPs and members of the Lords that they had to dredge up a former local counsellor to make up numbers?

LordProfFekkoThePenguinPhD · 24/11/2018 14:31

Are they all women?

HamiltonCork · 24/11/2018 14:33

Depends on how you define women.

AnyOtherPerson · 24/11/2018 14:34

Sadly unsurprising. Not sure how someone who appears to be unable to disguise their unpleasantness and grandiosity on social media, and who has been shown to have acted in highly dubious ways when in an elected position as a councillor can STILL have the Lib Dems in thrall to them, but that seems to be the case.

RedDogsBeg · 24/11/2018 14:52

Is Layla Moran the one who can look into people's souls and decide which out of two male bodied people is actually in possession of a woman's soul, ergo a woman and therefore harmless?

LikeDust · 24/11/2018 14:52

Yup.

BettyDuMonde · 24/11/2018 14:59

Brown isn’t even a Cllr. Is this the best they’ve got? Because if so, the Lib Dem’s are fucked.

Mumfun · 24/11/2018 15:02

Unbelievable

BurpAndRustle · 24/11/2018 15:03

No.

AngryAttackKittens · 24/11/2018 15:03

Do they not have actual MPs, or at least senior figures in the party, to put on the shirt?

BlackLambAndGreyFalcon · 24/11/2018 15:07

All their female mps (All 4 of them) are on the t-shirt.

BesmirchingMotherhood · 24/11/2018 15:10

All other points notwithstanding, it’s the fugliest tee shirt ever.

AnyOtherPerson · 24/11/2018 15:12

I suspect they, like many other groups just now feel unable to celebrate women without thrusting someone trans in there. Eventually they might work out that putting off a huge percentage of the population when you’re a political party is suicide, but there will be a massive party rift. Someone quite senior in the Lib Dem’s admitted to me that they felt the party was in too deep, but that they couldn’t see a way out. Until the majority realise the implications, this will continue, and when they (finally) do, it’ll me messy. Imagine the fuss SB et al will make if challenged.

BurpAndRustle · 24/11/2018 15:14

I just couldn’t pop Floella Benjamin on my chest as a political icon. I just couldn’t.

BettyDuMonde · 24/11/2018 15:16

They could’be just had the 4 woman mps - although maybe highlighting that they only have 4 is bad PR? 😂

JoanSummers · 24/11/2018 15:18

Sarah Brown is a white male who has, among other things:

  • publicly via twitter told a lesbian to suck Brown's dick
  • declared that vaginas are offputting, again on twitter
  • tried to have a well known feminist lesbian's name retooled as a descriptive term for the internal smegma produced by trans males who have had penis inversion surgery.
  • as a Councillor, deliberately misled their local authority in order to take away basic rights from women, to the extent women lost those rights for a couple of years and a female Councillor had to resign in order to have the Council take the issue seriously and change their policy back to be within the law. Brown subsequently slandered that female Councillor for the sacrifice they made in order to properly represent women.

The libdems have ignored enormous evidence of Sarah Brown's misogyny, homophobia, maliciousness, manipulativeness and dishonesty.
This is who the LibDems choose to give prominence when they celebrate women.

If I had a formaldehyde pickled dick, I'd be tempted to tell the libdems exactly what they can do with it. But I wouldn't give in to that temptation, because I'm not a raging misogynist.

I will never vote libdem again, and I'm making damn sure that everyone I know hears about Sarah Brown and how the LibDems condone all of Brown's actions against women.

BurpAndRustle · 24/11/2018 15:21

Oh. I thought it was the one married to Gordon Brown. Oops.

OlennasWimple · 24/11/2018 15:23

Blimey

So many things wrong with that

AngryAttackKittens · 24/11/2018 15:29

Actually 4 people would have been better from a graphic design perspective.

AngryAttackKittens · 24/11/2018 15:30

But yes, associating your political party with the words "suck my formaldehyde pickled balls" is perhaps not the wisest choice if you're trying to attract women voters.

JoanSummers · 24/11/2018 16:06

The Liberal Democrats continuing their relationship with Sarah Brown is really significant in showing their attitude towards women.

So what if it's difficult to extricate themselves from Brown and Brown's clique? Not doing so makes them unsafe for women to support.

And taking on Aimee Challenor as well - it's pure contempt for women on display.

Any woman or man who is a LibDem rep or member and who is at all concerned about women's rights and safety should stand up and publicly condemn the LDs behaviour on this issue. Who is protecting Brown? That should be exposed. Why is the media not pressing the LibDems on this? People have been forced out of politics for far less.

AspieAndProud · 24/11/2018 16:19

It’s a ‘ladies’ t-shirt.

That’s very binary of them.

AnyOtherPerson · 24/11/2018 16:21

So what if it's difficult to extricate themselves from Brown and Brown's clique?

I take it as a sign of great weakness that they are either blind to SB’s nature OR that they are aware, but too cowardly to act.

Heratnumber7 · 24/11/2018 16:25

It's a "white ladies' t-shirt" apparently.
The Lib Dem's can piss right off in their gender neutral toilets.
