Recommended by Jo Swinson this morning to celebrate amazing Lib Dem women in the Party over the last 100 years. Top left is a particularly, erm, interesting choice.

Aspie
Excellent point! Surely they cant be telling us there are only 2 sexes to chose from when buying their t-shirts??
And seriously, beyond their family and friends, who would buy it?

Might stick my curmudgeonly face on a t-shirt and see how I get on with flogging it on ebay.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 24/11/2018 16:28

they felt the party was in too deep, but that they couldn’t see a way out

Easiest thing in the world. All they have to do is issue a statement of support for trans people containing the words 'complex' and 'balance competing rights'

Threewheeler1 · 24/11/2018 16:33

Chewy
Grin a bloke with a bad haircut

Nice to see them touting their woke credentials and not giving a shit about real women. Although, maybe Labour have some Lily t-shirts in the pipeline for us?

Procrastinator1 · 24/11/2018 16:34

Is Floella Benjamin gender critical? It would ruin my memories of play school if she isn't. Just read through a list of female liberal MPs since 1922 there are hardly any.

Threewheeler1 · 24/11/2018 16:42

Procrastinator1
I think she firmly takes the party line of TWAW.
We've always got Hamble and Big Ted to keep the memories alive.

LizzieSiddal · 24/11/2018 16:55

Thank you fir the list Joan.

I do wonder why any political party would want to publicise their association with such a person.

welshbookworm · 24/11/2018 17:12

I got the email this morning and my first response was unprintable. Not only including Sarah Brown instead of one of the many excellent and long-serving women councillors, but putting her in poll position in the top left-hand corner! My membership is hanging by a thread at the moment and the only thing stopping me cancelling it is the hope that I can oppose this Gadarene rush in some small way.

Serfisafleur · 24/11/2018 17:42

Fgs Sarah Brown is "first" in the way you read the list of women.

This person is an abusive misogynist, bedfellows with the Chanellors and swings around cries of "terf" and threats of all sorts on a regular basis.

Piss off Lib Dems.

Doobigetta · 24/11/2018 17:57

Feeling significantly vindicated in my decision to stop giving them £6 a month over this kind of thing recently. They deserve to wither away into nothing, they really do. I feel very sad that the party of David Steel, whose wisdom is fucking awe-inspiring, has sunk to this.

CountFosco · 24/11/2018 18:06

Oh. I thought it was the one married to Gordon Brown. Oops.

Me too. Then I tooked at the tiny picture and thought 'but that's someone with XY chromosomes'. It's kind of incredible how good we are are recognising what sex someone is isn't it. I have always voted Liberal, I'm never doing it again unless they self combust and turn into a Phoenix.

R0wantrees · 24/11/2018 19:32

I think Sarah Brown chairs (?) Stonewall's Advisory Group.
Its an influential position.

ChattyLion · 24/11/2018 20:36

Ugh. They’ve offensively appropriated the word woman, plus the women’s suffrage struggle (100 years reference and the purple white and green), and the slogan is bullshit when the Lib Dems have only been going since 1988... and it’s only made in women’s sizes. No Lib Dem men are expected to give a crap about their ‘amazing’ Hmm Lib Dem women, so that’s all right.

WSPU · 24/11/2018 20:52

Just hideous. Who votes for theses tools?

welshbookworm · 24/11/2018 23:46

and it’s only made in women’s sizes

Nope, there are men's versions too in the LibDem online shop, so everyone can go round with a misogynist on their chest.

ChattyLion · 25/11/2018 13:31

My mistake... they’ve got a whole suffragette collection.... t shirts for men with ‘feminist’ on. Hmm www.libdemimage.co.uk/products.php?category=Suffragette+Collection&page=1

Hopefully the feminist policies will follow?

theOtherPamAyres · 25/11/2018 13:46

Have they run out of t-shirts featuring Jeremy Thorpe, Clement Freud, Cyril Smith and Mark Oaten?

FatherBuzzCagney · 25/11/2018 13:56

Really, what the fuck is Sarah Brown doing anywhere near that? Brown was a one-term councillor who couldn't hold onto or retake one of the most naturally pro-Lib Dem wards in one of the UK's most Lib Dem-friendly cities. In 2014, when standing for re-election, Brown's vote total dropped by more than 50% (720 votes against 1571 in 2010). Some of this was a reaction to the coalition but other Lib Dem councillors held on to Cambridge wards that year. And, of course, Brown has never managed to take the ward back despite huge Lib Dem effort: Ann Sinnott absolutely crushed Brown in May 2018. It's not really possible to be a less successful elected politican than Sarah Brown. So, what's the Lib Dem message here: we celebrate true political incompetence? It would certainly be consistent with their more general approach.

welshbookworm · 25/11/2018 16:10

Hopefully the feminist policies will follow?

On past showing I wouldn't hold your breath, ChattyLion.

ChattyLion · 25/11/2018 22:58

Welsh you’re right Sad

ChattyLion · 25/11/2018 23:46

I had a quick look at the Tories’ online gift shop - Confused contains a lot of nostalgic ‘Daddy’s got a job!’ and ‘it’s a housewives’ budget!’ retro stuff etc Hmm
shop.conservatives.com/collections/all

meanwhile the Labour shop has a bloke modelling a Jeremy Corbyn football scarf: shop.labour.org.uk/product/oh-jeremy-corbyn-scarf

UpstartCrow · 25/11/2018 23:59

Looks like the worst episode of Blankety Blank ever.

Abeautifulpeagreenboat · 26/11/2018 00:05

Is it this Sarah Brown:

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-45643998

That article is very interesting actually....

GrimDamnFanjo · 26/11/2018 00:12

Yet again my decision to leave the libdems after over 30 yrs and elected office is validated.

And apart from the obvious it's embarrassing to place Shirley Williams alongside some of the other women on there.
