Who is this week's Comic Relief inspirational female figure?

KingLooieCatz · 21/11/2018 12:34

I can't find this on CR website, or their Twitter feed, and I was looking forward to finding out as well.

Am I doing it wrong?

Apologies if there's already a thread on this, and I'm doing Mumsnet wrong as well.

They can't have run out of inspirational female figures to give the spotlight to on Women's Wednesdays already, surely?

I just double checked it was actually Wednesday - it is.

Well of they post an actual woman they will look like they conceded they were wrong.

If they post a man they get abused again and rightly so

They fucked now really

PurpleOva · 21/11/2018 12:38

Maybe they gave up on the idea after the backlash last week?

KingLooieCatz · 21/11/2018 12:57

I can't help thinking it's an even bigger own goal to just stop after week one.

Maybe they can't think of one
which says all we need to know

BlytheSpiritsSpirit · 21/11/2018 13:02

Fools and cowards.

ShotsFired · 21/11/2018 13:04

I still haven't had a response since their pissy note about being a small team and suddenly busy (as a response to my reply to their reply to my original message!).

I hope they have canned it though, what a shitshow.

SandyDrawsBadly · 21/11/2018 13:07

it’s going to be manrow ballsoff probably.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 21/11/2018 13:10

They haven't blogged since last week... wonder about Twitter

Oh, maybe not

As it's 'women Wednesday' the obvious candidate is David Lewis.

Budgieinaberet · 21/11/2018 13:14

I think that Twitter feed shows how confused they are Grin

ErrolTheDragon · 21/11/2018 13:19

Oh fgs CR, just pick one of the women being discussed as nominees for the £50. Having ballsed it up at the start, just do it properly now, start with a woman who is uncontroversially and genuinely inspiring from that ready-made list.

StealthNinjaMum · 21/11/2018 13:20

Has anyone seen the pinned tweet?

In defiance of complaints last week they are fighting back. There are good comments underneath

Grin was drinking from my water bottle and nearly dribbled it all out because I smiled so broadly at this:

WHERE'S YOUR INSPIRATIONAL #WOMANWEDNESDAY TODAY EH? Been looking but the page is eerily quiet after last week's first Woman Wednesday was all about a bloke who killed himself trying to put a dead woman's uterus into his body last century.

YOUR MISOGYNY IS SHOWING.

BlytheSpiritsSpirit · 21/11/2018 13:25

Love it.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 21/11/2018 13:28

I've just been reading it. Surely the grown ups will be along soon!

I mean, some of the points being made are so bloody clear and incontrovertible - the "only those identities we like" comments, for example!

RepealTheGRA · 21/11/2018 14:08

Did I just see Debbie told to ‘fuck off’ and then called ‘cis’ Shock I just don’t know where to start with this. WTAF has been going on in our education system over the past 20 years? Dear god.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 21/11/2018 14:20

Yep! By a trans woman who doesn't hesitate to use all sorts of emotive language, verbal aggression and to wail about the nastiness of another trans woman's words being used by us femiNazis against real trans women

Question - am I saying that right "trans women" or should I lose the gap? I got myself all confused. Probably the repeated blows to my logic and sanity!

ErrolTheDragon · 21/11/2018 15:31

Generally considered clearer here to use 'transwoman' - a distinctive category rather than 'trans woman' which implies a subcategory of 'women', still in the wider world liable to be misconstrued as meaning a transgender female ie a trans man.

They have put this up - it is tempting to put up a string of the labour and liberal parties hopefuls Hmm Wink

Melamin · 21/11/2018 15:36

or just to carry on ignoring it which might be a good idea.

hdh747 · 21/11/2018 16:10

and they are still tagging it #genderjustice.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 21/11/2018 16:12

Thanks Errol I had the sneaking suspicion that I had it the wrong way round. Your post explains why. I shall, from here on, mind that gap Smile

Not sure what that all says!

KingLooieCatz · 21/11/2018 17:00

Throughout this month we’ve been choosing women to celebrate on ‘Women Wednesdays’ across our social media channels, and so in fitting with our theme of Trans Awareness, we celebrated Lili Elbe.

I can't see any other Women Wednesdays - is that just me? I quite like the message. I just can't seem to find the other inspirational women they picked to shine the spotlight on, not on CR website and not on Twitter. Am I missing something?
