Only caught bits of this as I was heading out so will watch later.
Polly Carmichael from the Tavistock clinic was on discussing the review. Was all a bit cagey -said she didn't think young people were being 'fast tracked' but I didn't catch the whole thing.
Anybody watch the whole segment?

Lots of giggling and wafting aside Showed a pro pro pro trans film beforehand

Charliethefeminist · 05/11/2018 13:19

Cripes. Polly thinks its hilarious.

IHateHouseworkWithAPassion · 05/11/2018 13:26

According to Polly Carmichael all is well at the Tavistock. Nothing to see here. So why is there an internal review?

OldCrone · 05/11/2018 13:57

Polly thinks its hilarious.

This is a serious issue. If she wants to reassure people that she takes her job seriously it would be better if she didn't dismiss their concerns as ridiculous and hilarious.

Interestingly, Lisa Muggeridge's take is that Travistock has been caught between a rock and a hard place due to TRA bullying, and those culpable are, indeed, 'the Left' and its media institutions (aka Guardian).

Hmmm. Just caught up -so Polly Carmichael thinks 3-6 months is 'a long time', long enough for a "thorough psychosocial assessment". Hmm

That film at the start -Victoria was going full 'head tilt', with extra accompanying 'soft eyes'. Might as well have put a glittery butterfly instagram filter round it. Hardcore journalism there.

Interesting video deep , 'drivers and passengers' - so true.
Reassuring to see Lisa believes that the Tavistock will deal with this appropriately, hope she's right.

Is PC the senior member of staff that thinks kids should be being fast tracked. I thought she was sensible but the two times I’ve seen her lately she’s been appalling.

bluetitsaretits · 05/11/2018 15:18

Seems like she did acknowledged ROGD fairly recently.

But once again they have missed the point. The letter was concerned that older teenagers are going straight to the adult gender clinic where Polly's careful psycho social assessment may not happen. The letter wasn't about the treatment that GIDS are giving children and younger teenagers, it was about teenagers and young adults being treated in the adult service. Victoria needs to interview a clinician from the adult service.

bluetitsaretits · 05/11/2018 15:24

Agreed starkstaring , they totally glossed over that bit.

So Polly Carmichael thinks 3-6 months is 'a long time', long enough for a "thorough psychosocial assessment".

One session every week for 6 months might be OK, but what does Polly Carmichael mean here in terms of hours? It's probably one meeting a month for 3 - 6 months - therefore totally inadequate.
