I love it! Not enough to buy one through Kickstarter but I think it's great. I'd like longer arms on it to keep my bingo wings in place. Grin

Andtheresaw · 01/11/2018 10:39

If they'd shown a picture with things in the pockets I think it would be a lot less attractive..Lip balm sticking out over left boob, passport on hip all covered by stretchy breathable material. Hmmm
.
Are pockets a feminist issue?

UpstartCrow · 01/11/2018 10:44

Yes pockets are a feminist issue. Clothing is a feminist issue from the ethics of manufacturing through design and point of sale.
If clothing is restrictive, poorly made or nonfunctional it hampers women.

LassWiADelicateAir · 01/11/2018 10:50

I like it but would prefer not to have the keyhole back.

Gncq · 01/11/2018 11:13

Don't like it. A pocket in the neckline against your tits? You couldn't put anything in it unless you want weird looking tits. A tiny zip pocket agaibst your hip? You couldn't put a wallet in there it would totally ruin your silhouette.
I've done lots of travelling and usually wore combat-trousers with a skinny vest / bikini top or fancy top for occasions. Why should women have to wear dainty floaty / figure hugging garments with invisible zips.

Pockets are a feminist issue because so many women's garments are made without them or with "invisible" pockets that you can't put anything in without ruining the look.

The dress looks nice and everything but I can guarantee anyone wearing it would just use a handbag or satchel and no one would use the zip pockets because they're pointless.

Milliepede · 01/11/2018 11:22

The lack of pockets in women's clothes makes me so annoyed. I don't like carrying a bag, I just carry what I need. Summertime is the worst because coats aren't needed and I haven't got anywhere to put anything so I end up stuffing things down my bra. I have got one dress which has got fabulous pockets, nice and deep and I can put alsorts in there. We need more zippable pockets in clothes - manufacturers please take note.

disrespectfulpenguin · 01/11/2018 11:39

Andtheresaw
pockets are totally a feminist issue. They are one of the key ways you know you are talking to a woman! men get pockets and utility knifes. Girls get well lipbalm holders..
RussellTheRaven
it does look pretty doesnt it? but you know the minute your lip balm is nuzzeled between your babs the neckline is heading south.... also a passport is quite big
Gncq
it isnt for travelling so much as having your photo taken while the other half is loaded down with stuffed man pockets.

This came up in my Instagram feed and I laughed. Lack of pockets is one of my pet peeves. Even my toddler has an inside pocket in his jacket! I want them too!

Everything I sew for me has pockets added. There are many Etsy sellers who make dresses etc with pockets if you’re not a sewing type.

ARosebyAnyOtherNameChange · 01/11/2018 11:59

I don't really fancy extracting my credit card from my boobs while trying to wrangle a wrap-front dress Confused.

Floisme · 01/11/2018 12:01

Not a fan and I can’t see what’s practical about it. Admittedly pretty dresses aren’t really my thing.

Gwynfluff · 01/11/2018 12:07

Cos, Arket, &otherstories, uniqlo, j crew - all make women’s clothes with usable pockets in correct places. Particularly liking coats with an inside pocket at the moment.

totallyliterally · 01/11/2018 12:09

I imagine the vpl is horrendous.

Possibly missing the point..

And then there is the big thigh rubbing issues of dresses in hot places.

It's a not from me.

AlexanderHamilton · 01/11/2018 12:11

Men wear lipbalm too. Dh and ds both get very sore, chapped lips else. They have pockets to put one in.

I think its a great idea.

woopdedoodle · 01/11/2018 12:25

It's obviously just me who thinks it's really cool that women get to carry bags then?

The men in my life are always dropping stuff down the backs of chairs, abandoning important junk around the house, checking all the different coats they may have left things in.

Comfort, and durability are an issue. I'm fed up of things falling to bits while "man" cloths seem to go on for ever. Pockets not so fafted about, I'll stick to a bag.

claraschu · 01/11/2018 12:30

It looks like it is made of plastic, and is unnecessarily low cut.
Natural fibres, loose, and pockets in normal places for me-

LassWiADelicateAir · 01/11/2018 12:33

I've done quite a bit too. I wouldn't be seen dead in "combat trousers with a skinny vest / bikini top or fancy top for occasions".

Why should women have to wear combat-trousers with a skinny vest / bikini top or fancy top for occasions? Question looks daft doesn't it? But no more so than yours.

And the irony of describing this dress as "figure hugging" when your preference is "skinny vest / bikini top" presumably escapes you.

LassWiADelicateAir · 01/11/2018 12:36

I don't know where this idea of women's clothes not lasting comes from. I have clothes that are years and years old.

LassWiADelicateAir · 01/11/2018 12:40

I agree entirely. I like dresses with pockets (Cos and Samantha Sung) dresses have them but I would only use them for hankies/reading specs. For security when travelling, or anywhere really, a cross the body bag with internal zips is far safer than stuffing keys, wallet, phone etc in a pocket. Radley pocket bags are brilliant.

DixieFlatline · 01/11/2018 12:41

The only time I've worn a dress apart from my wedding day (and then only for the ceremony) in the last many years has been while visiting a very hot country where carrying a bag was a big 'mug me' sign. I can absolutely see how this dress would be appreciated by some.

LassWiADelicateAir · 01/11/2018 12:48

And then there is the big thigh rubbing issues of dresses in hot places

Now this I don't understand at all. How can wearing trousers or shorts be more comfortable than wearing a loose dress or skirt in a lightweight cotton?

lulumcgish · 01/11/2018 12:57

Dh was horrified to find none of my current coats have inside pockets! It just wouldn't happen with men's clothes.
I don't care if my wallet or phone makes my boobs look wonky, I would like it in an inside pocket for safety.
So often women's clothes are just designed to look nice, whilst mens are so much more practical. 😒

Allycumpooster · 01/11/2018 13:02

I do love some extra pockets. I rarely wear dresses but I bought a Boden one in May and have worn it a lot over the last few months simply because it has pockets (I didn't know it when I bought the dress).
I hate carrying a bag.

totallyliterally · 01/11/2018 13:03

@LassWiADelicateAir

You clearly don't have my thighs!!

They touch and so in any heat I can't wear anything but shorts

totallyliterally · 01/11/2018 13:05

But talking pockets... I have a Barbour jacket and thing I love most are the pockets. It's a women's one but same design as a mans. Huge pockets and then hand warmer pockets and an inside zip pocket.

When I compare to any other coat I own where they have teeny pockets your phone doesn't fit into let alone hands in gloves

Can you imagine a men's coat that the pockets were so small?
