So what does one identify oneself as today?

Whatever the answer. It is wrong, because it is a nonsensical question IMO, which implies one is an imposter and delusional.

You either ARE a woman or not, if you identify as one but is not BEING one....? Imposter and delusional. Sorry that’s the 💡 light bulb moment I had today and all these light bulbs moments are all logically pointing to the same conclusion.

I have wanted a unicorn for a while. I have now decided to be pro active and identify as a unicorn instead.

If anyone wants me, I’ll be out in the park shitting glitter and rainbows 🦄

ContentiousOne · 22/10/2018 20:43

I identify as being very tired of the bollox.

Am in a politics discussion group with some very smart, very progressive women.

They are in a lather over Trump and the proposed 'new' definition of sex.
aka the old definition aka the right one

They were telling each other how this is further evidence of how Repubs hate science.

???????????

They mix up sex and gender constantly, they think intersex disproves sexual dimorphism, they are brainwashed on this one issue and stupid and can't see their own lack of scientific understanding!!!

AND THESE ARE THE SMART WOMEN

ThePrincipal · 22/10/2018 20:55

The might be smart women, but even they can do the mental gymnastics to make sense of the trans gender double speak...because it simply does not compute.

IT DOESN’T COMPUTE, no matter how hard you try.

OP posts:
ThePrincipal · 22/10/2018 20:56

They can’t do the mental...

There will be a 💡 lightbulb moment....hopefully.

I don’t understand how smart people can carry on trying to believe this lie, thinking that they need to ‘educate’ themselves more in the transgender POV and double speak and bollox.

Argh, some friends of mine think the issue of trans in sports should be resolved by abolishing single sex sports altogether. Which obviously would destroy womens sport whilst leaving men's sport intact. It beggars belief.

I don’t identify as a small teapot

I AM a little teapot
Short and stout

Butterymuffin · 22/10/2018 23:11

If the self-Id thing goes through after all this, I think we should all legally id as men. It's the logical next step. En masse.

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 22/10/2018 23:16

This is fucking genius.

"I identify as" v "I am"

Thank you.

I identify as someone who didn't drink wine last night and has already finished my work for the day and gone for a run.

JellySlice · 23/10/2018 11:46

Yesterday I identified as a teenager and slobbed about all day because it's half-term.

Today maybe I'll identify as DH and actually get some wifework done (he's better at wifework than me, but he works in an office and I work in a school, so this week the wifework is all mine MWA-HA-HA).

Hoppinggreen · 23/10/2018 11:48

I identify as someone who has an immaculate house despite trying to juggle a million and one things at once
Sadly doesn’t seem to be working

selfidentifyinggiraffe · 23/10/2018 11:53

I SAW TODAY TRANS SPECIES AS A THING

I thought it was a spoof

It wasn't 😔

FloralBunting · 23/10/2018 12:16

I get so irritated with this repeated notion that if someone has no sexual experience, they can only 'identify as gay'. I've seen transactivists use it as a defense of their ideology, and it's stupidity.

Sexuality is about who you are attracted to sexually/romantically. Physical expression is part of it, but it is not the be all and end all.

You're not default=straight until you actually get passionate with a member of your own sex. I mean, unpack that line of thinking, and it's the essence of homophobia.

13thWarriorWitch · 23/10/2018 14:05

The words "I identify as" are synonymous with "I am not".
With that in mind -
I identify as a middle aged, menopausal, slightly overweight, disabled grumpy bitch with a migraine coming on.

Job done. Grin

SausageOnAFork · 23/10/2018 15:11

I know a woman who looks white. She has a black dad. She identifies as being black. Someone else might look at her and say, ‘no, you’re white’ but her identity matters.

But she can back that up. She can take a dna test and has the whole of her dads side of the family as proof.

I do know what you mean about identifying as gay though. You can identify as gay without actually ever having had a relationship.

Pannalash · 23/10/2018 15:14

A squirrel 🐿

FloralBunting · 23/10/2018 16:04

Angry being gay is an orientation. Just like being heterosexual is an orientation.

A nun who is attracted to men in her orientation but has never and will never sleep with one is not 'identifying' as straight, she is straight. If she is homosexually oriented that would not change based on her sexual experience either.
