Waitrose???

Anybody else get a certain email this morning about digital billboards going up today? Looks like it's Waitrose. They're not daft are they?! Ocado's loss is their gain and I'm sure this will help encourage it further. If I was richer I'd shop there.

Gncq Thank uou. The phrase itself doesn’t convey that at all, in fact rather the opposite.

JellySlice · 19/10/2018 18:02

Yuck Juells! That is foul. Surely not posted by a woman? Surely only a man - a particularly misogynist man - could use that word to define a woman?

liquidrevolution · 19/10/2018 18:14

How much would it cost to buy/hire an advertisement trailer? I'd happily drive one around.

Dunno, the blue hair brigade could go along with it to show how cool they are.

OlennasWimple · 19/10/2018 18:23

This is a confusing thread....

But OP - you said cost cutting ideas so I can afford Waitrose?

Stick to their basics ranges and the costs are no more than Sainsburys (and in some cases lower, and the products are normally good quality). The expensive things are meat, fish and organic products, as well as premium products like very naaice cakes and ostrich eggs. They have good offers and it is worth getting a MyWaitrose card for the vouchers - not sure if they still do a free newspaper?

shamofamockery · 19/10/2018 18:26

Ocado don't deliver for Waitrose. They used to and still have some products but companies aren't affiliated with each other anymore.

Femaledisrespectful · 19/10/2018 18:31

I don't like cake or ostrich eggs, plus we don't eat loads of meat so maybe it's doable after all. Interesting what you say about it being comparable to Sainsbury's.

Anyone read the Leeds live coverage? Some dude telling us how to spend our money again. Is that really all they can come up with? Fuck off.

OP posts:
Juells · 19/10/2018 18:42

Gncq

I think most people become radical feminists at that point too.

Yes, including those of us who would never in a million years have associated the word 'radical' with ourselves.

Juells · 19/10/2018 18:45

Anyone read the Leeds live coverage?

Do you have a link? Was it on twitter?

BettyDuMonde · 19/10/2018 18:46

I really want to tell them that we aren’t spending our own money on it, just our husbands’ money.

Obviously, they will quote that as the literal truth and declare we aren’t feminists at all, but to be fair, lots of us didn’t pick the Feminist label until it got thrust upon us to shut us down. Terf is the new ‘feminazi’ - it’s designed to shame us into silence.

Fuck off with that.

There's also a bunch of trans activists outside the metro offices now protesting...

In the poll via the link 89% has voted that the poster should not be removed.

MrsFogi · 19/10/2018 18:53

I am totally lost - has Waitrose done something to support women? If so, I will be increasing my weekly spend there (for a start they can have everything I usually spend in Tesco which I am now boycotting after the Metro ad). I had been trying to cut back on my shopping bill in Waitrose but if they are supporting women I will be redirecting spending to them wherever possible (I may also stop stickering in their car park- only maybe though).

Femaledisrespectful · 19/10/2018 18:57

@MrsFogi There were two billboards going up today courtesy of Posie; one in Leeds (done and they're moaning about the money we've wasted again, when will we learn?!) and the second is rumoured at a Waitrose site in London (no sign yet). In the meantime a bunch of TRAs are throwing blue smoke bombs outside the metro offices.

OP posts:
legofriendly · 19/10/2018 18:59

What are trans?
Who is posie?
Who are “they” that are moaning?

It’s like double speak.

legofriendly · 19/10/2018 19:00

That should read what are TRAs

Quickerthanavicar · 19/10/2018 19:01

Clearly the Masons have taken over.

placemats · 19/10/2018 19:02

Why are you asking these questions Lego?

Hint.

Posie mumsnet google. Into search engine on a new tab.

HTH.

PeakTrans · 19/10/2018 21:20

Has the second one been confirmed yet?

OldCrone · 19/10/2018 21:24

TRAs are transactivists. Not necessarily trans.

OlennasWimple · 19/10/2018 21:35

This seems likke a good thread to mention the Waitrose "sexist sandwich" story Wink

Femaledisrespectful · 19/10/2018 21:44

No billboard! Twin pair outside Waitrose were due to go live at 2.30pm. It didn't happen. The media company say the landlord had asked them to take it down so they could look into it. Waitrose are denying this. So it's unclear (ish) but fingers are pointing towards a Waitrose boycott
