If I remember rightly he commented some time ago to Glinner or possibly Johnny Best that he was (and I'm paraphrasing wildly) plucking up the courage to come out of the GC closet. So I've been hoping for this for a while, and he's not the only one.

I'm entirely delighted by this tweet and gif in reply to him: mobile.twitter.com/BustedWench/status/1042429688411574273

GreenGloves · 19/09/2018 22:25

Grin love that silent!

JellySlice · 19/09/2018 22:28

not standing for disingenuous fuckwittery

Oh yes Grin

TheGoddessFrigg · 20/09/2018 13:16

What I have against Robert Webb- his book made me cry twice on the bus. And I NEVER cry...

blinkowl · 20/09/2018 13:31

This is my favourite response to that thread;

'Man defending women, knowing that current trans activism does not represent most v decent trans people, and not standing for disingenuous fuckwittery' is my favourite ever character of yours. Thank you

FloralBunting · 20/09/2018 23:39

One of his tweets on that thread has aaaall the bobbleheads frothing. I shouldn't imagine it's going to keep him up at night.

GulagMilkMonitor · 20/09/2018 23:48

He is a star.
Hysterically funny, intelligent and it would seem, someone who can construct a well put together argument.

I like to think DM, VCM etc. are in agreement too.
Giles Coran showed GC leanings only last week.

Shampooeeee · 21/09/2018 05:22

Well done Robert, welcome to the team.

Theinconstantgardener · 21/09/2018 09:55
I love him too and David Michell. This is one of my fav sketches.
SecondRow · 21/09/2018 10:05

Love him. Have to say I laughed at this response:

You wrote a book about how to not be a boy. And you don't have to be one. Just bear that in mind

It's ok, Robert! Instead of spending probably a few years of your life sensitively interrogating male socialization and standing up for women, you too could be brave and stunning and on the right side of history. We're here for you Flowers

DukeOfSussex · 21/09/2018 15:19

He's at it again.

Ereshkigal · 21/09/2018 15:28

Check this petulant response!

FloralBunting · 21/09/2018 15:34
Grin

I can see the folded arms and the pouty bottom lip in that one.

DukeOfSussex · 21/09/2018 15:35

Oh bless. "Mum I wanted my blue cup!

Ereshkigal · 21/09/2018 15:39

Mate, I don't think Robert cares about your disappointment with him.

frogintheTyne · 21/09/2018 15:39

and the "disappointment' word - used precisely as described in another thread currently running .

FloralBunting · 21/09/2018 15:49

frogintheTyne, yes, I noticed that too.

NoSquirrels · 21/09/2018 15:50

Oh I love this! He “might have to write a blog”.

YES PLEASE ROB!

I wish Canongate (his publishers) had let him keep that Author’s Note at the beginning of HNTBAB that he’s tweeted.

WhereYouLeftIt · 21/09/2018 16:07

Luffs Robert Webb, and he puts his points so clearly. I listened to him read from his book on Radio 4 (Women's Hour?) some time ago, he knows of which he speaks, as the saying goes.

Also worth following on Twitter is Richard Dreyfus, giving short shrift to the TRAs.

holidaylady · 21/09/2018 16:41

I head a radio 4 program ages ago about extremists. Very interesting, as it seems that the one thing they all share, even if they are from the opposite political spectrum- a huge gaping lack of sense of humour! Absolutely none. Takes everything very seriously and pious. I've spotted this so many times in recent days observing all the twitter pile ons, like Robert webbs.

lucydogz · 22/09/2018 08:07

I've come back to this late because something was niggling me about 'lovely' RW and I've just remembered. On a (since deleted) tweet he called Julia Hartley Brewer a ' thick Oxford twat ' after she'd said that she hadn't got into Oxford because she was privileged, but because she was clever.
So, imo anyway, not quite so lovely.

Juells · 22/09/2018 09:15

I looked at his twitter feed late last night and sort of got the impression he was rowing back and saying he'd read up and educate himself. But it was very late, so I may have misunderstood.

TheGoddessFrigg · 22/09/2018 09:22

You'll be waiting a long time Juells if you are looking for someone who is perfect.

boatyardblues · 22/09/2018 09:56

He might roll back for a bit, as Alison Moyet did, but his card is marked & the TRAs will go after him anyway. I have no doubt he'll learn as AM did that only total and utter capitulation will do & eventually tell them to eff off.

Ereshkigal · 22/09/2018 10:01

See this idiotic reply:

twitter.com/sarahbeeysian/status/1043140960299835392?s=20

Of course she got challenged on it and is now whining about "trolls".
