City of London consultation

Apologies if this has already been posted recently, but I couldn’t find a thread. The City of London “consultation” organised by Edward Lord, which was tweeted by him a few weeks ago, now seems to be doing the rounds on social media again (partly promoted significantly by the “Sister not Cister UK” Facebook group). I’m struggling with a clicky link to the survey, but here is what WPUK have to say about it: womansplaceuk.org/write-to-the-city-of-london/

Are people filling in the survey? Or still writing to the City of London? I assume it’s not worth filling in anything that gives a different perspective from that invited by the incredibly biased and problematic questions, but would welcome any guidance (given that I live and work in the City of London)!

WPUK statement on the consultation (from link above)

"We are very concerned that this survey is not being carried out in good faith and that it is being done in such a way as to privilege the interests of some people over others. We believe the City of London Corporation may be in breach of its obligations under the Equality Act (2010) and the Public Sector Equality Duty.

We are therefore calling on the City of London Corporation to halt the consultation and review its implementation to ensure it is in line with good practice and with the law.

What can you do?
If you share our concerns, please:

Write to the City of London Corporation explaining why you are concerned about the proposals
See below for the contents of our letter and feel free to adapt: personalised letters produce better responses.
Refer to any sites and facilities run by the City (see above) that you use and explain how a change in this policy would impact on you and others.
Submit your letter here
Let us know that you have contacted them and share any response you get" (continues with example letter)

Thanks R0wantrees (and for resurrecting the original thread which I couldn’t find!). I am concerned that it suddenly seems to have a lot of further promotion from various groups which share the obvious agenda behind it. It is so obviously biased that it is difficult to fill in with any meaningful response. The conflation of gender and sex throughout is particularly frustrating.

purpleanorak It's great that you flagged it up as there seems so much going on. Thank you.

There are as WPUK say, many issues with the consultation. Many are discussed on this thread.

#ManFriday have done a lot of work with this. SwearyG's posts on this thread are really worth reading.

sorry, meant to say many of the concerns are discussed on the original thread so worth a look!
