I thought it would be a good resource to pull together all the ways women are being silenced. (This might be a long thread, sadly).

What examples do you know about?

I'll start...

Scientist Lisa Littman of the Department of Behavioural and Social Sciences, Brown University, published her study this month.

Rapid-onset gender dysphoria in adolescents and young adults: A study of parental reports

Her own university have retracted their press release promoting this study because of pressure from Trans Activists.

The threat of prosecution. Used against Posie Parker, Linda Bellos and Venice Allen.

Ereshkigal · 30/08/2018 19:31

The refusal to even engage with and defend their mealy mouthed statements that there are no safeguarding concerns with trans centred policies which do not permit children a space away from the opposite sex:

NSPCC, Girl Guiding

Ereshkigal · 30/08/2018 19:32

As in refusing to engage with concerned women.

VickyEadie · 30/08/2018 19:33

That threat of prosecution - going for those women named is 100% aimed at every one of us.

BitOfFun · 30/08/2018 19:34

The threat of physical violence to women meeting to discuss their own issues. Threats to venues which host such meetings.

WarmWishes · 30/08/2018 19:35

Terfblocker

Use of the words and slogan TWAW #nodebate which is a complete discussion stopper online and used in real life. Users knowingly say it to stop GC feminists from getting to the nitty gritty/crux of the argument which focuses on biology.

Procrastinator1 · 30/08/2018 20:01

Women need to start raising money and using the courts and any other legal methods to counter this. It there is a rubbish consultation, judicially review it, threats of violence, report to the police, bring private prosecutions if necessary, sue for libel, research grant stopped, sue for discrimination if appropriate. All very stressful, expensive and time consuming, but we are left with no alternative I think.

Refusal of media interviews to sabotage stories.

Mass complaints to media outlets. Mass. Mass complaints.

Media workshops with IPSO, leading editorisl figures, minor editorial figures, to create context that women are not stakeholders/trans are most oppressed etc.

Access to senior editorial figures that is refused to women

Charliethefeminist · 30/08/2018 20:11

Doxxing and complaints to employers

Charliethefeminist · 30/08/2018 20:13

Creation of a culture of fear.

Literally silencing them by banging pans outside a meeting so that abuse survivors can't be heard.

Charliethefeminist · 30/08/2018 20:13

Complaints to mumsnet

Complaints to advertisers

Charliethefeminist · 30/08/2018 20:15

Threat to funding of women's support organisations if they speak out - blackmail, in fact

Charliethefeminist · 30/08/2018 20:20

Expulsion from political parties

Internal investigation by organisations like girl-guiding

Compilation of hitlists of personal data

Publication of pictures of feminists' children

Charliethefeminist · 30/08/2018 20:22

Threats to rape, murder, slice open, burn, chop and inflict unlimited violent acts on feminists, and in one case a feminist's daughter

Charliethefeminist · 30/08/2018 20:23

Refusal of platforms at universities

Charliethefeminist · 30/08/2018 20:24

Police investigation of stickers saying women don't have dicks

Fairenuff · 30/08/2018 20:25

Threats of physical violence

Charliethefeminist · 30/08/2018 20:25

Replacement of women as speakers - Paris Lees on Question Time I'm looking at you

Charliethefeminist · 30/08/2018 20:26

Am I supposed to put examples - sorry

WhereDoWeBeginToCovetClarice · 30/08/2018 20:35

Women's places in schemes to promote women into equal political representation are being taken by males.

Ereshkigal · 30/08/2018 20:49

So chilling that cartoon, Fairenuff. Those are the tactics of both MRAs and TRAs.

Bienchen · 30/08/2018 20:50

Non-platforming of GC speakers

thebewilderness · 30/08/2018 20:55

Being '"Swatted"!
Calling the police and claiming there is a hostage situation at a woman's home.
Jo Cox was silenced the way two women a week are silenced in the UK.

WhereDoWeBeginToCovetClarice · 30/08/2018 21:26

Picketing, wearing masks and trapping women in stairwells to prevent them meeting.

Charliethefeminist · 30/08/2018 21:31

Labelling. Use of word 'transphobia' to describe legitimate concerns.
