"A young politician and transgender activist who is running for deputy leadership of the Green Party was fighting for her political life last night after it emerged that she had used her father as her election agent even though he faced charges of raping and torturing a 10-year-old girl."

Ihaventgottimeforthis since you appear to have read the comments, is there any chance you could tell us what nasty things were said? Feel free to message me, if you don’t want to post on here.

Jarveau · 26/08/2018 12:30

Re backlash, I was thinking more from TRAs.

PositivelyPERF · 26/08/2018 12:30

I imagine it’s more to do with the risk of identifying the poor little girl or someone actually slandering Challenor junior. I can understand that they wouldn’t want to be sued.

AngryAttackKittens · 26/08/2018 12:37

You'd think TRAs would be screaming about this, but like the Bradley case they all seem to have temporarily lost the ability to type. Funny that.

The article says that Aimee claims not to have known

Haven’t read the film thread so apologies if this has been mentioned.

In a publicly accessible FB page in mid-late 2015 Aimee discusses the police having visited to speak to her. (I won’t link to the page as it includes names and images of other family members.) I’m sure it will be claimed the police visited for an entirely separate issue. (What though??)

IfIWasABirdIdFlyIn2ACeilingFan · 26/08/2018 12:42

full thread.

MrsWooster · 26/08/2018 12:44

All the ones I saw - about 25- were along the lines of the Green Party should / must have known- certainly A must have known, Aimee shouldn't be in an advisory position under the circs, etc.

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 26/08/2018 12:46

CaitlynsCat That page no longer exists since you linked it.!

AngryAttackKittens · 26/08/2018 12:49

So anything linked here is being deleted? We should test it!

Theswaggyotter · 26/08/2018 12:50

There was a comment which speculated on the victim’s identity so maybe that’s why
I def didn’t see anything else which would be worthy of deletion

placemats · 26/08/2018 13:42

I agree with Pachyderm

There is much more to this case. It's totally horrific to read about.

I do have sympathy for all the Challenor children.

Most of all let's not forget the young child who brought this case to light. She was brave and courageous, as was her carer/relative who supported and believed her.

I can’t believe this isn’t all over the news. The despicable crimes of Chanellor Senior are newsworthy enough (although, frankly, I wish I didn’t know the specifics of what happened to that little girl). And he was involved with childrens’ gymnastics and Scouts? Why is it always gymnastics and Scouts?

I suspect this could be the start of a much bigger investigation.

As for Chanellor Junior, it’s clear to me that this is a person way too young, too untrustworthy (I refuse to believe they knew nothing of what went on in the attic) and damaged (by an extremely dysfunctional and abusive upbringing) to occupy the position they’re currently in.

sashh · 26/08/2018 13:52

The whole story is desparately sad. From every angle. But especially from the angle of the little girl - and issues surrounding here should be absolutely the most central.

And that should be reason enough for Aimee to resign, the poor child should not see posters of her abuser's family at election time or any other time.

Haworthia · 26/08/2018 13:53

And AC's only qualification for standing for deputy leader appears to be their trans identification. They have no qualifications, a very chequered school history and diagnosed mental health issues. And they're 20

Yes, it does seem that an otherwise unqualified male can easily get themselves a high profile job if they come out as trans - thinking of Bradley and Madigan in particular. It’s like a magic key.

Can anyone think of a young woman managing to pull off similar by declaring themselves male?

SturdyEarmuffs · 26/08/2018 14:02

Comments have gone on the article

Iused2BanOptimist · 26/08/2018 14:05

Haworthia Or indeed a young woman pulling off similar just being themselves. A young woman.

SirVixofVixHall · 26/08/2018 14:11

Haworthia - absolutely agree.

Interesting that this was from 2015
Why would anyone want to bring attention to themselves. Anyway not connected particularly other than he moved straight in with a vulnerable woman who had children and has seemed to have her pretty brainwashed

lowtide · 26/08/2018 14:17

Also Aimee still has photos of her and her father post 2015 on her twitter account out campaigning.
And the Green Party haven’t even thought how horrifically damaging this might be for the victim. I mean it just beggars belief.
Or for their image. Are they just run by a bunch of muppets, surely someone pulled Aimee aside and said you need to have nothing online with your fathers photo in it.

TimeLady · 26/08/2018 14:20

Assuming a trans identity appears to give the person a Teflon coating.

IncrediblySturdyPyjamas · 26/08/2018 14:23

I keep thinking I'll fill in the Self ID consultation, and then another example comes out of the closet and I think 'I'll just give it another week', and then another example comes out of the closet and I think 'I'll just give it another week...etc etc etc.

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 26/08/2018 14:24

The article says that Aimee claims not to have known

Having lived in a place that was raided by C.I.D when I was a teenager, I don’t really believe that they didn’t have at least a very strong inkling of what DC was being charged with. Trust me, you notice when you have bunch of police officers going through your flat/house at 5am in the morning.

Cismyfatarse1 · 26/08/2018 14:25

Is Aimee a child or a step-child? Did Aimee arrive with DC or is Aimee of the Mum in the wheelchair? Siblings? Are they full / half / step?

Ereshkigal · 26/08/2018 14:27
