I would like to post a copy of it here does anybody know how?

OP posts:
AjasLipstick · 17/08/2018 12:11

Upload it to your computer or take a pic on your phone and then "choose file" where it says below the posting box....

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 17/08/2018 12:31

Don’t think I have the choose file option-just emoji and italics text options

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 17/08/2018 12:34

Thanks anyway I might transcribe it later when I have more time

The button that looks like a paperclip? Ie, 'attach'.

IAmTheWifeOfMaoTseTung · 17/08/2018 12:38

If you’re a new member of the site you won’t have the paper clip button to post pictures I think - for obvious dick-pic-related reasons.

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 17/08/2018 12:58

Ahh that’s why I have no paper clip! Will transcribe later.

OP do come back with a picture. Pleased to hear that SE London is beginning to get some coverage.

Rebecca36 · 18/08/2018 18:54

What's it about?

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 18/08/2018 20:14

Ok so I can’t post a pic so have transcribed. I’m a bit new to all this as in I didn’t realise what all the fuss is about. Saw this and decided to follow the links and read up. My local Lib Dem party posted the poster and said it was disgusting transphobia on Facebook;

“WOMEN
Did you know that there are men,
Who have assaulted & raped women housed in U.K. women’s prisons because they claim to be women?
Did you know that groups are going into schools & telling kids they can ‘choose’ wether to be a boy or a girl & that these groups receive children in need and lottery funding??
Did you know that proposed changes to the Gender Recognition Act will mean that a man is allowed into women’s spaces (changing rooms, sports teams, swimming sessions) just by declaring himself to be a woman?
Want to know more? CHECK OUT
@Man FRIDAY,@transgenderTrd @womansplaceuk @resisters @lillylilymainard @ sexfenderethics”

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 18/08/2018 20:14

They have asked the public to remove the posters should they see them around town.

OP posts:
Carrrotsandcauliflower · 18/08/2018 20:53

I had gone back and said I wasn’t sure if it was. Short story: I am called a disgusting transphobic. My comments hidden by them, (there was some to- and frowing- ) I was then named/tagged in their reply which said it was sad that such transphobic, bigoted views could appear on their page. So nobody actually knew what my views were as they were hidden. I had said that from what I had read so far I wasn’t convinced that this poster was in itself truely transphobic- and that some women were concerned about issues arising out of sharing their space being written into law. Apparently even asking the question, they said even having the worry made me clearly transphobic.

OP posts:
greenlanes · 18/08/2018 20:58

is that a national poster?

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 18/08/2018 21:16

I don’t know- I have only seen their Lib Dem fb photo of the poster. There is no group named on the poster as any kind of organiser. From the photo it looks like a small a4 poster that had been fly posted somehwere.

OP posts:
Carrrotsandcauliflower · 18/08/2018 21:17

Headline bit saying “Women” was in blue as were the twitter tag things at the bottom, test in black like old style typewriter typeface.

OP posts:
Carrrotsandcauliflower · 18/08/2018 21:33

In the end I deleted my original comment and so the whole conversation. Because basically I’d been left looking like I’d made some horrible comments ( which couldn’t be seen as they had hidden them.) when I hadn’t. What has freaked me out is-
1: now I feel like I don’t know what is the right way to think about this- is even having the idea that I/others may feel unsafe/vunerable from sharing our spaces infact transphobic in itself??
2: is this person just shutting down my question/viewpoints to further their own cause at the cost of mine?
3: that I actually felt a bit horrified worried upset that I was painted in a bad light by this person.
Sorry if I’m going on a bit.

Bad luck @Carrotsandcauliflower you have come across a topic that women are not allowed to discuss freely event though it is their rights that are in jeopardy here. The best place to start reading about this is on Fair Play for Women once you've spent 15 minutes reading you can then make up your own mind about whether or not you consider that any women asking questions about this is transphobic.

CholloDeNombre · 18/08/2018 21:59

Ah op you unknowingly poked a bear there. But you aren't transphobic, just a concerned female. Most of us are, when we learn the truth of self ID. Do keep reading. Thanks

Crwban · 18/08/2018 22:24

OP, you've done nothing wrong. You've listened to your instincts and your instincts are correct. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

Keep reading. Follow any link associated with this board on this forum. Step away for a while each time you've read some literature - take a cup of tea/glass of wine and think about what you've read. If you're not happy with what's said on here - ask us. Challenge us. Open dialogue. There are so many wise MN'ers willing to talk. If there are abbreviations or acronyms that confuse you, ask and someone here shall answer.

We need people to exercise logic and intellect about this topic. Women's Rights are in danger and no one here or any other feminist forum will threaten you with abuse and violence if you challenge our thinking. This is not always
The case with other forms of
Social Media.

Keep reading. Keep questioning.

Rebecca36 · 18/08/2018 22:26

A very good message on that poster. I live in that area but haven't seen any yet.

MrsFogi · 18/08/2018 22:33

Out of interest OP where was the poster?

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 18/08/2018 22:57

Thanks very much for your messages. I had read the fund raising info for Jessica James and it all seemed like logic to me. The poster was in Bromley Kent. I’m not sure where abouts, but they said there had been a few around town. I wish I had screen shot my fb conversation now.

GirlDownUnder · 19/08/2018 01:31

That poster was started here in FWR, I’m trying to find the link...

GirlDownUnder · 19/08/2018 01:50

@fidgetspinner555 your posters are working

this thread

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 19/08/2018 09:41

They are being painted as transphobic publicly on fb by the local Lib Dem’s. Perhaps you could consider a follow up poster.

OP, try this thread. It's a bit of background.
