If you're feeling brave, OP, perhaps post again on a higher traffic area? Because I'd be surprised if most women know what changes in the law are being discussed - now - even on MN.

OP, the lib dems public stance on this has not exactly been covering them in glory.

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 19/08/2018 11:29

Lots of people I know have started to mention bits and bobs about all this. Someone said to me that this will probably all just “blow over “ and. It to worry about it all. But I have the feeling if we all do that then we won’t have anywhere left of our own outside our own homes.

I think you're right. Most people - both men and women - have absolutely no idea what's being asked for and how close men who identify as women are to achieving it. Women who identify as men aren't demanding anything much. Funny that.

When I gave my DBs a brief outline a month or two back I said I thought only one person in a hundred knew about the trans agenda. DB1 said it was more like one in a thousand.

He knew about it because he's very interested in sport. Mad on it. He coaches kids. And he could name the man who is currently the Canadian women's cycling champion. It outraged him.

Men can already compete against women in this Olympics, FFS. And that's just sport. People really don't have the faintest idea how far it's all gone.

So- what’s the best way to get the facts out there fast without just getting shut down/ bricks trough windows/called transphobic.

I’m not a member but what about local WI meetings would they take kindly to chatting about this kind of thing- that might be a god way to get into groups of women that already assemble who would spread it about from an acceptably old fashioned community. Or maybe not I don’t have any experience with them as a group

We can only do what we can. No one person can change the world but if we all do our bit we can make a difference.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has - Margaret Mead

If you're interested there are plenty of resources in the feminist section here. You can write to your MP, all sorts of actions are detailed there.

I talk to people whenever I get the chance, personally. Most people still think transwomen are the old school transsexuals - essentially gay men who have had all the surgery. When I explain that 80-85% of those currently under the Stonewall umbrella have a penis and most are attracted to women you can see their minds reassessing almost as you speak.

As I've always been an LGB ally people don't assume I've suddenly become some sort of bigot. Indeed I'm all for trans rights. They should be free to present and call themselves whatever they want. But that doesn't mean males are entitled to access women only spaces.

I just thought this thread posted elsewhere might get the attention of Mumsnetters who live in or near Bromley.

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 19/08/2018 20:21

Might put it on the local page- just add it as a link?

OP posts:
LockedOutOfMN · 19/08/2018 20:27

Thanks for notifying us about this, OP. Certainly we need to raise awareness and I would not be surprised if there are others in and around Bromley who are not happy with the local Lib Dems' reaction to the poster.

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 19/08/2018 20:27

Have put link on local. Am going to put something together for aibu

OP posts:
Carrrotsandcauliflower · 19/08/2018 20:47

Just to make sure - is it ok for me to post a link to this thread on aibu?

OP posts:
Prawnofthepatriarchy · 19/08/2018 20:51

It wouldn't work to post a link to this thread. That's a thread about a thread (TAAT) and they're a MN no no.

Start a new thread in AIBU or Chat or Local. That's what I'd do, anyway. Smile

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 19/08/2018 20:52

I'd join you on the Lib Dems Facebook page, but as I don't live in Bromley I'd just look daft.

Permaexhaustion · 19/08/2018 20:59

WI is a brilliant idea.
Contrary to many people's image of them, they're take no shit, and are not afraid to protest.

No idea how that could be done.

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 19/08/2018 21:46

I’ve reposted aibu without the link. Hopefullly that’s gonna be ok.

OP posts:
Prawnofthepatriarchy · 19/08/2018 21:50

Yes, I saw. Was watching out for you. Smile

Carrrotsandcauliflower · 19/08/2018 22:09

I don’t think it’s going as well now though. Smile

Faez · 19/08/2018 22:49

I can't see it on their website

zen1 · 20/08/2018 07:40

Prawnofthepatriarchy · 20/08/2018 08:28
