Of course performative femininity/masculinity are how trans people simplify things for cis people.

I know how hard it can be to explain the contents and nature of your less typical head to those whose brains don't share the condition.

Simplification is both useful and helpful. But if the simplification is so inaccurate and far removed from the reality that everybody has got the wrong end of the stick and things are getting heated, it needs to be dumped with something more "truthy" replacing it.

Especially when so many, and increasingly younger, people appear to have swallowed the simplification whole and made it their "need to transition" reality.

The upshot is, if performative m/f is required to explain and discuss, (even between transpeople who are talking amoung themselves, in public view) then perhaps performative m/f has something to do with it.

Hi I've got my stickers, not the penis ones but ones with writing on. So where are you sticking them. Toilets, bus stops, posters.. I'm not brave enough for cash machines. Backs of every toilet door I'm thinking. Where else?

Maybe shopping trollies would be easy? Who knows 🤷‍♀️

drradfem · 17/08/2018 12:10

I think it'd be really good if people stuck them and photographed them in at least one place where we can see the name of the town or in any iconic/recognisable spot so we can see how this is happening all over the country... and the world!

I like the place names idea!

Charliethefeminist · 17/08/2018 12:46

It's really scary. Having just done one I would say, do it somewhere you are never going back to! That is very scary. Going to keep going tho.

Charliethefeminist · 17/08/2018 12:48

Cripes I mean you go out all brave and then you think you'll be arrested on the spot and everyone knows! But we have to do this.

Stickerladiesoftheworldunite · 17/08/2018 13:03

Well done Charlie.
Can somebody remind me of the 'charge' if caught whipping a stickered penis in a public place?

I'm sure Vater Muck could comment given they are defending the real thing, allegedly, ahem.

Stickerladiesoftheworldunite · 17/08/2018 13:05

Whipping out Grin

Though sure 'whipping penises' wouldn't cause them to bat an eyelid either....

Fairenuff · 17/08/2018 13:21

If caught red handed just pretend you are removing the disgusting, offensive, vile sticker.

Be all Mary Whitehouse about it and mutter 'penises indeed, whatever next', that sort of thing...

Oh, that's a brilliant idea. Grin It is remarkably scary, I agree, Charlie.

Charliethefeminist · 17/08/2018 13:38

Everyone has such sneaky ideas Grin I even put mine on with a glove in case of fingerprints Hmm

tsonlyme · 17/08/2018 13:39

Printed, cut and stuck my first one today. It won’t be there long as the toilets were immaculate (Waitrose) but it’s a start.

Charliethefeminist · 17/08/2018 13:39

Would the charge be criminal damage?

WaddIelikeapenguin · 17/08/2018 13:42

Fairenuff Shock brilliant Grin

I feel horrible worry about whoever will have to clean the damn things later Confused greater good i tell myself...greater good but stickers are bastards to get off whispers my brain

Charliethefeminist · 17/08/2018 13:42

It would be littering or vandalism oh dear never mind

Charliethefeminist · 17/08/2018 13:44

Tsonlyme well done well done

JillyArmeeen · 17/08/2018 13:47

Not a lawyer but I doubt it would be criminal damage. More likely littering.
What about hate crime? I know that's the hysteria on twitter but how likely would it be, if caught, it could go further than an 80quid fine?

JillyArmeeen · 17/08/2018 13:48

Am I just getting nervous because my first sticker will go up tomorrow

Charliethefeminist · 17/08/2018 14:11

What so littering is the offence and it becomes hate crime littering. Would TRA really want that to go to court? A drawing of a penis in the ladies is offensive but an actual penis isn't?

Charliethefeminist · 17/08/2018 14:12

Jill, Baseball hat and gloves Tiger sell cheap nylon wigs

CesiraAndEnrico · 17/08/2018 14:13

What about hate crime?

I think they know if that gets tried they'd have to arrest 97% of the adult population.

Who would be volubly peak transing left, right and centre.

From a tactics point of view it would be a "all your christmases just came early" gift to us. And they are just too stingy to present us with that.

TimeLady · 17/08/2018 14:27

My first batch of 'Women don't have penises' have been placed...and subsequently removed Grin

So phase 2 is a new batch of stickers saying 'Humans can't change sex', and these in turn will be replaced with 'Sex =/= Gender'. So it becomes, in effect, like an ongoing story board.

JillyArmeeen · 17/08/2018 14:30

OK, I do think it is a ridiculous stretch to think it could go that far.
I'm paranoid. Although I would look lovely in a blue wig.
I might not put penises on mine anyway, I'm not very artistic.
Some people on twitter think it's hate crime and sexual assault.

theOtherPamAyres · 17/08/2018 14:32

Fly-posters confound CCTV operators by being armed with a hat, a jumper/cagoule/jacket and a distinctive plastic carrier bag from Lidls/Waitrose etc..

Place poster on surface. Walk off. After a few streets, step into a doorway, stuff plastic bag into pocket, put on hat and cagoule. Walk for a few minutes, step into doorway or shop. Turn plastic bag inside out, place hat and cagoule inside. And keep going.

Fly-posters have watched Spooks.

In the real world CCTV operators would have to be very bored to try and follow a fly-poster, especially in a crowd. Only in cases of very serious crime would the police spend hours and hours scouring images on CCTV.

Is it bollocks.
