WTF is so wrong with little girls getting an education? These men are pathetic, inadequate shits.

There was a midwifevtraining college targeted in Afghanistan as well.

This is why education is so bloody important - it sets in motion a chain of events that frees women.

IStillMissBlockbuster · 03/08/2018 17:05

I wish there was more outrage rather than sad resignation Sad

Appalling news. The education of girls is so important and as you say so often targeted.

heresyandwitchcraft · 03/08/2018 17:10

That's actually disgusting. I had no idea it was such a huge problem in the region.

Pakistani Taliban and allied Islamist militants, who regard girls education as anti-Islam, have been attacking thousands of schools for young women in northwestern and northern parts of the country.

My heart goes out the community affected.

Yes. Even for the broader goals of the community, I believe economic/health outcomes are improved with female education.

terryleather · 03/08/2018 17:35

A disgusting outrage.

TheCountryGirl · 03/08/2018 17:42

These men are stupid cowards. I hate them. Taking girls' chances away of a better life - evil to the core.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 03/08/2018 18:07

Bastards.

Forced marriages in the UK are the highest int eh British Pakistani community - 37% of all known cases.

I know the rates of DV are astonishingly high in Pakistan - 90-99%.

ijustwannadance · 03/08/2018 19:25

Gobshites.
They don't want girls and women educated because they lose control.

nocoolnamesleft · 03/08/2018 20:19

If men are such amazingly naturally superior creatures, then why are they so pathetically scared of women getting an education? Bastards.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 03/08/2018 20:33

What's really depressing is that my first thought was oh thank goodness it was at night Sad
Bastards, when the revolution comes...

Theinconstantgardener · 03/08/2018 20:40

Tragic. And we think we have problems

AngryAttackKittens · 03/08/2018 20:55

Me too, Waddle. Which is a sad sign of the resignation the OP was talking about.

So much male violence stems from men's refusal to accept the fact that they can't control women and girls, and have no right to do so.

nocoolnamesleft · 03/08/2018 20:59

Waddlelikeapenguin

My first even more depressing thought was "Oh god, not one of those where they wouldn't let the girls escape as they were improperly dressed".

XingMing · 03/08/2018 21:19

I am not RC but please consider supporting (with money not words) the work of CAFOD, a charity that concentrates on the education of girls in the developing world. Their work changes whole countries and fights against the suppression of women through education.

Missymoo100 · 03/08/2018 21:27

The sad thing is that it is not seen as acceptable for women to be allowed to be seen by male doctors, yet females training as midwives/doctors are discouraged.... so the mortality rate during labour is very high. Women not allowed to go out unaccompanied, without a male either to get help should complications arise. Most women in Pakistan give birth with no medical supervision and the death rate reflects this.

powershowerforanhour · 03/08/2018 22:32

They burned a midwife training college? Stupid as well as evil then. Thank goodness for Malala and people like her.

LaSquirrel · 03/08/2018 23:22

Just horrible. Although I was relieved they did not burn the schools with the girls in them - says more about what these men are capable of, and not my apathy. I am still appalled.

When grown men target little girls, you just know these men are pathetic beyond words. Not a sign of their strength, but a sign of their weakness.

Rebecca36 · 03/08/2018 23:24

In what publication did you find this information?

IStillMissBlockbuster · 04/08/2018 07:00

I wonder, there are surely some feminist organisations in Pakistan, can we support them in some way?

Women's rights are going backwards right across the world. Our position is not as dire but we do know the political party we'd have traditionally expected to protest something like this don't give a flying f*ck about women's rights in any country

This makes me feel so angry and helpless at the same time.

FermatsTheorem · 04/08/2018 08:21

It seems to be a recurring theme in fundamentalist Islamicism -IIRC Boko Haram (Nigeria) literally means "(western) education forbidden."

PyeWackets · 04/08/2018 08:53

Why are men so scared that girls may receive an education?

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 04/08/2018 08:56

Pye because those girls might start questioning the status quo.
