For actual fucking fuck's sake.

It's reminiscent of those westerns where the bad guy makes some poor sod jump about while they shoot bullets into the ground at their feet and yell "Dance, sucker!"

Picassospaintbrush · 22/06/2018 16:20

Daim is reporting me.

spontaneousgiventime · 22/06/2018 16:21

Yep, so I could have posted goady troll but acronym is a no-no. I don't think any of "those who don't quite have a name yet" would be pleased at being referred to as goady trolls in any context.

quoted from your mums net email quote

We think in general we're going to have to delete this kind of thing. Generally speaking you could use the word 'people', 'transpeople', or even 'TRAs', if that's the group you are referring to. In this instance, you could probably even have said 'goady trolls'."

so, probably? Is that probably for sure? or, we don't really know but you could try it and see?!

mebbies aye or mebbies naw?

spontaneousgiventime · 22/06/2018 16:26

AntiqueOlive I and others have tied ourselves in knots trying to work this all out so we don't get strikes. Trying to wade through all of this is like swimming through treacle poured into a muddy lake.

LangCleg · 22/06/2018 16:28

We think in general we're going to have to delete this kind of thing. Generally speaking you could use the word 'people', 'transpeople', or even 'TRAs', if that's the group you are referring to. In this instance, you could probably even have said 'goady trolls

But this is waffle and bunkum in that it does not address my issue at all!

I'm perfectly capable of saying trans people when I mean all people with a trans identification.

I'm perfectly capable of using TRA when I mean transactivist (who may or may not be trans themselves).

I'm perfectly capable of using goady trolls when I encounter or wish to refer to a bunch of arseholes, however they identify.

But there are times when I need to refer to a particular subset of trans people and those times will not be infrequent because I want to talk about single sex spaces, services and legal protections. It's blindingly obvious that I will need such a term if I am to be allowed to articulate any pro-woman argument at all on this site. Because I'll be talking about one sex subset of trans people and not the other at all.

Apparently, I am not allowed to use any term that includes a reference to the sex of this group (eg male, man) because it upsets them. Ok. Fine. But, by the same token, I am not prepared to use any term that appropriates my sex for this group (eg female, woman) because it upsets me.

So what, pray, is an acceptable term? Because without one, I'm going to have to post stupidities such as [group we don't currently have a mutually acceptable term for]. I'm not being goady. I'm not using forbidden terms. But where is the term that accommodates my principles and feelings?

FloralBunting · 22/06/2018 16:29

Daim is entirely untrustworthy, and has apparently had an epiphany on the "Would you say yes if..." thread where someone repeated the same thing people have been saying for months, and suddenly daim thinks it makes sense.
It is an absolute masterclass in gaslighting if anyone was confused about the term means, keeping those who can be bothered to engage permanently off balance. Daim has as good as said they are doing it for shits and giggles.

Amalfimamma · 22/06/2018 16:32

Spontaneous

How did you get the second strike taken away? A week has passed and they still haven't answer my appeal.

Btw is anyone from Chatham? Please pm me as I need a favour seeing ad I can't get to the UK until September.

spontaneousgiventime · 22/06/2018 16:33

LangCleg It appears all we can say is TW or the longer versions and I will not it offends ME!

So, MN is going to have to come up with terms we can use and all be happy.

spontaneousgiventime · 22/06/2018 16:36

Amalfimamma I emailed MNHQ laying out why I thought the strike was unfair. I made it clear while I accepted the first strike I didn't agree with it as it breaches my freedom of speech. Basically I laid out bullet points to why I thought it was unjust. That appeal was denied. I then appealed using the words from my first appeal and the email received in the denial from HQ asking for it to be reconsidered. It was and the strike removed. My post was deleted but I was fine about that.

Picassospaintbrush · 22/06/2018 16:51

" thread where someone repeated the same thing people have been saying for months, and suddenly daim thinks it makes sense.

I did smile at that one. Best avoided.

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe I'm evil, what can I say.

Sorry, just did it for a laugh. I'll change it.

BeyondSceptical · 22/06/2018 22:13

Acronym was my suggestion, I feel crap if people are getting into trouble for it though :( FYI though HQ, I didn’t suggest it to be goady - I chose it as it was the acronym used in the league of gentlemen...

spontaneousgiventime · 22/06/2018 22:17

BeyondSceptical Honestly don't worry about it. I was pissed off at getting a strike for it but not at you. It was at the fact we weren't told a strike was possible. Now it's removed I'm a happy bunny again.

BlackeyedSusan · 22/06/2018 22:33

Still here. Not posted much today so hardly surprising.

Pratchet · 23/06/2018 01:22

I received a warning although not a strike today for using 'acronym'. MN Have said in certain contexts it's a way to circumnavigate the rules

What the actual.

I like [acronym] it's not offensive to anyone.

Pratchet · 23/06/2018 01:25

[redacted] also a new one for me but excellent

These don't seem to be rules as much as moods

Picassospaintbrush · 23/06/2018 01:27

I am on my last life.

Real life work is ramping up however.

Pratchet · 23/06/2018 01:29

Obsessive activists know that women here are endlessly inventive. We know you are watching and you cannot force us to say the things you want. This isn't North Korea! There are trans advocates who think these rules are nuts. Stop trying to control our language. It's fascistic.

Pratchet · 23/06/2018 01:33

Picasso did you [acronym] or generalise sweepingly

The realisation hasn't sunk in that we can't be shut up. If they ban FWR completely we will redouble our real life campaigning.

BettyFloop · 23/06/2018 01:40

I received a warning although not a strike today for using 'acronym'. MN Have said in certain contexts it's a way to circumnavigate the rules

What are the actual rules? And what are the "certain contexts" for circumnavigating them?

Reading this board is increasingly becoming like going down the rabbit hole....

Picassospaintbrush · 23/06/2018 01:40

I stated the truth.

It was reported by someone who wants the truth suppressed because they are both having their strings pulled and are wilfully naive.

I am too old and knowing to be innocent of motives.
