Good morning sisters.

OP posts:
Maryzsnewaccount · 20/06/2018 13:29

I think they should have a rule that you have to be a posting member for 24 hours before you can report. Because every time someone is banned, they come straight back and start reporting again.

I'm not looking for a two tier membership, or saying that only "regulars" should be listened to, but surely it's not unreasonable to expect people to (a) be members and (b) wait 24 hours before being allowed to run riot with the report button.

Either that or a limit on reports. No-one should be allowed to join, never (or hardly) post, but report hundreds of times, get banned, return the next day and do the same thing again. It's just silly.

BeyondSceptical · 20/06/2018 13:31

24 hours on sign up with limited function would surely help with all trolls, not just here...?

Maryzed, are you still not able to get back into your proper account?

spontaneousgiventime · 20/06/2018 13:32

The posts deleted for not using the banned language, acronyms etc are just being treated as before I think. You get a strike if you hurty feelz. Fuck our feelz.

Maryzsnewaccount · 20/06/2018 13:46

Nope, can't get in, and no emails to either of my email addresses.

It would have to be 24 hours after their first post, though. Otherwise they are silently reporting lurkers and we can't see and get rid of them.

If I ran the world, you would only be able to report one post for every post you actually make. And also, for every 100 really nice supporting interesting or amusing post you make, you should be allowed one fuck off to a poster of your choice.

Sadly I don't make the rules Sad

ScarletBegonias · 20/06/2018 16:36

SwearyG - "Somehow still standing. Agree that the repercussions of yesterday’s cessation of hostilities thread will come today. Feel like I’m waiting to be called to the headmaster’s office."

I was just looking through the 'cessation of hostilities' thread and see that there have (so far!) been 5 deletions - including the post where you did say you were going for a red card. So I wonder if you were summoned to the head's study to be shown it?

I know Spontaneous was also concerned about that thread getting her a red card but nothing she said has been deleted yet ...

Amalfimamma · 20/06/2018 17:00

I see one of my posts in that thread was also deleted. A bloody optical. Illusion photo.

Are optical illusions now bannable offences?

ScarletBegonias · 20/06/2018 17:06

Amalfimamma - yes, I saw that you were one of the victims.

Did you get an email about it and do you know if it counts as a strike? I do hope not.

Amalfimamma · 20/06/2018 17:11

ScarletBegonias

No email as yet but if I disappear you'll know that's my third strike.

Kettlepotblackagain · 20/06/2018 17:17

Amalfimamma - the pic you posted in response to my post about 'cheerleader shadows' got deleted?

Oh no I'm sorry, I'm partly responsible

It was fucking funny though

spontaneousgiventime · 20/06/2018 17:23

No, no cane for this thread - yet! I have appealed my second strike so we'll see.

SwearyG · 20/06/2018 17:36

No email but I did get deleted. Think that’s one strike.

Amalfimamma · 20/06/2018 17:43

Kettlepotblackagain

It's not your fault I wasn't aware that optical. Illusions were against guidelines!

I have also appealed my 2 deletions, on Friday, still no answer from @mnhq though. Seems my email is being ignored or lost in the post......

Still no email telling me what guidelines I broke with the photo either.

BarrackerBarmer · 20/06/2018 17:53

SwearyG, if you don't get an email it may not be a strikeable offence - see my earlier post

AtreidesFreeWoman · 20/06/2018 18:05

I'm pretty sure Sweary would have got a red card for that one tbh Wink

I seem to have avoided deletion so far.... I was fairly careful about the new guidelines on the assumption that in the context of a humorous thread some leeway was allowed - but tbh it's all still a bit mysterious about where the line is.

It seems you can say some pretty nasty stuff about people in the public eye (not in humour) and it's ok, but doing the same to a trans activist (even when it's obviously a piss take) is a no go???

To be fair the the Mods I guess they are adjusting to the new rules as well and having to assess a lot of posts that fall in a grey area.

I really just hope they are as busy with the vexatious reporting as that's a side we don't see.

It feels a bit awful to say but it feels a bit like having to test the boundaries to see where they really lie atm.

The problem there is you can end up with 3 strikes before you know it based on the feedback time.

Hey ho, well I'll keep posting and see where it leads.

spontaneousgiventime · 20/06/2018 18:10

Any one who is in the other place can see all the emails I've received as I've posted them all. I can't say here why I got strikes, I have there - vocally!

ScarletBegonias · 20/06/2018 19:46

When people refer to "the other place" don't they normally mean the House of Lords?

Or the House of Commons, if they happen to be in the Lords.

alexpolistigers · 20/06/2018 21:03

I have only just realised why you are all signing into the register. Have many people actually been banned?

ballsballsballs · 20/06/2018 21:22

Uterati has gone. Has anyone seenJuzzaL today? I noticed deletions on the football thread.

OP posts:
Pratchet · 20/06/2018 22:21

A few are on two strikes. Bewilderness and a couple others have been targeted.

ChattyLion · 20/06/2018 22:34

The lisa Muggeridge thread has been pulled. Unless I have misunderstood, this extends the new guidance: i understood from the message from HQ just before the thread was pulled that it was being taken down because OP had linked to something outwith the guidance.

(The link was to a non-MN hosted Lisa Muggeridge blog which ‘misgendered’ a person’). But OP didn’t quote this or use any non-preferred pronouns in their actual OP that started that thread.

I am confused now about the rules. I have posted on the site stuff thread which I had missed previously:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/site_stuff/3277316-Mumsnet-moderation-of-trans-rights-and-gender-critical-issues-II

I feel really worried now, if MN new guidance needs to extend to cover the content of what we link to or a whole thread will be zapped. Hoping I have got the wrong end of the stick somehow?

LaSqrrl · 20/06/2018 22:41

MNHQ have altered the search function. You won't find any of your deleted posts show up at all in search any more. It's like they never existed.

This is really annoying. Given the frequent deletions that go on, it would be good to at least know about (even before this strike system)

Maryzsnewaccount · 20/06/2018 23:33

So that means no-one can link to the more batshit TRA bollocks that might use the word TERF as well as anything gender critical that might use TiM or refer to a penis.

That'll restrict what we find out about just a tad, won't it?

BlackeyedSusan · 20/06/2018 23:41
NaturalBornWoman · 20/06/2018 23:45

it is like being in an abusive relationship. first this is wrong, then you try to avoid this but now that is wrong as well, so you try to avoid that as well and then something else is wrong. all to keep you from being able to speak or act or do anything.

a coercive control technique

Exactly that.

Anyway, glad to see you all survived the match!

Maryzsnewaccount · 20/06/2018 23:53

Yep, compromise, and more compromise and yet more compromise. But it's all our fault in the end anyway Hmm
