Anyone from here attending?

Who is speaking?

That is near Madigan isn't it? I don't feel like dealing with a momentum youth protest.

Southfields · 14/06/2018 12:07

Madigan is over 40 miles away, a journey that takes about 2 hrs by train. Madigan is much closer to London which is only 30 mins by train. Madigan has never turned up to any GC meeting, even in London.

Who is Madigan?

ImagineBeing · 14/06/2018 12:17

Madigan is a Labour CLP officer, there was an issue between the Hastings Labour women officer, CLP EXEC and Madigan.

SugarButterFlour · 14/06/2018 12:22

Yes, I am Smile

DW and i are coming. It's #womanWednesday for me. I also volunteered for escort duties to and from the venue.

TERFragetteCity · 14/06/2018 18:06

Madigan has never turned up at any women's meeting, ever.

LM did skulk around the House of Commons event though.

I know...just saying that he was at one, but skulking not engaging,

As you were.

ImagineBeing · 15/06/2018 16:34

The police are investigating a device threat against this meeting, link on Twitter WPUK.

SugarButterFlour · 15/06/2018 18:23

Any idea when the venue will be confirmed?

SugarButterFlour · 15/06/2018 18:54

Ignore the above - just seen it won't be until the last minute.
Ironic that there was a public meeting in Hastings in March, about Transgender Politics - and yet women are having to meet in secret. Just spent too long looking at some of the hate and vitriol being spewed about WPUK on local FB.
(sorry - not very articulate)

PointlessTV · 16/06/2018 14:24

It looks like the event is going ahead.

No clarity if the bomb making equipment found locally yesterday by police, is linked to the threat. This is covered by local press who as you can see from the above linked piece, are biased against women.

WhatTheWatersShowedMe · 17/06/2018 10:41

I’m going, bringing others with me as well.

Kettlepotblackagain · 17/06/2018 10:43

Why haven't National Newspapers got hold of this threat?

Maybe this would make people see what we were up against.

LaSqrrl · 17/06/2018 10:54

Wow, a rather 'balanced' article from Hastings Online, innit? Or did I miss the 50% that should have been devoted to WPUK?

PointlessTV · 17/06/2018 10:56

Why haven't National Newspapers got hold of this threat?

I have been questioning this also.

sleepingdragons · 17/06/2018 11:03

@LaSqrrl That Hastings Online Times article was a response to an earlier article which was supportive of the WPUK event:

hastingsonlinetimes.co.uk/hot-topics/campaigns/the-great-gender-debate

So, the publication hasn't come out for either side (so far!).

sleepingdragons · 17/06/2018 11:06

@PointlessTV This is covered by local press who as you can see from the above linked piece, are biased against women

Let's not spread misinformation.

Hastings Times Online have published two articles - one in support of, and then a response that was against the event.

It's too soon to say if they have a stance. To say they're biased against women on the basis of one negative response to a supportive article is not really correct representation of facts IMO.

LaSqrrl · 17/06/2018 13:38

Two articles still doesn't cut it. One article, 50/50.
Otherwise, just silly.

Southfields · 17/06/2018 15:17

I am astonished to find that my post on here re: Lily Madigan has been removed!

I merely pointed out that Madigan did NOT "skulk" around the House of Commons when the women's meeting was taking place -- but was there in order to attend another meeting, the booking of which was made weeks before the women's meeting was moved there after Millwall cancelled.

What in any of the above is worthy of my post being deleted? It is NOT transphobic -- if anything, it defends Lily Madigan!

Jeez we can't even mention anyone trans now without a deletion, swiftly leading to a ban!

So, it tells me to read the guidelines, and I did, and they say:

Mumsnet's Talk Guidelines
Mumsnet Talk is not a pre-moderated forum. Our policy is to keep intervention to a minimum and let the conversation flow. That said, we're also here to make parents' lives easier, so where necessary, we will use our discretion to delete posts (or ban posters) if it seems to us that doing so is in keeping with this aim.

We do have a few forum rules to make sure we keep Talk a good place to hang out:

No personal attacks
No posts that break the law
No trolling, misleading or deliberately inflammatory behaviour
No trollhunting
No spamming

None of that applies to the post in which I stated that Lily was at the HOC to attend a different meeting.

OP posts:
Southfields · 19/06/2018 13:32

Apparently the police are now fully involved and have assured attendees that they will only be a 999 away, though they won't attend til someone calls. Instead, brick-shithouse bouncers will be in attendance.
