I don't know what to say about everything else. But it's amazing how the 12 rules of misogyny apply, isn't it

Everywhere & you cant bloody un-see it. thebewilderness has ruined us Grin even if i cant remember the numbers

Hair of the dog? Fry up?

LighthouseSouth · 14/06/2018 11:28

fried egg and buttered toast....

so I must read this article as I've lost the plot what terms are allowed now....

Weezol · 14/06/2018 13:12

I had candy floss for breakfast and it made me feel splendid. Highly recommended.

LighthouseSouth · 14/06/2018 14:17

I haven't had candy floss for years. Can you even buy it in shops?

I've just been in Aldi and a woman stopped me and asked me some advice about cooking. It was surreal. I hate cooking!

Bertrand - you might like this: www.thetimes.co.uk/article/todays-feminists-arent-warrior-women-like-germaine-theyre-pearl-clutching-princesses-0xx9jm5bl

One of the few articles I've read lately that went against the grain re: current school of lazy thought on Greer.

PermissionToSpeakSir · 14/06/2018 16:50

Lighthouse it sounds really tough, do you get any respite?

I think there are charities who might be able to help- although it was a long time ago that I used to signpost to those sorts of things and since austerity things could have changed.

Maybe if you had a month off you could find it easier to face?

Sorry if I sound annoyingly chipper.

LighthouseSouth · 14/06/2018 18:12

Permission - oh I only have to deal with them at weekends, sorry if it sounded like it's every day. It's a 3 hour round trip, so weekends plus a weekday or two if they are having a health crisis (which happens a lot).

don't be sorry at all about sounding chipper, I had more detailed vent on the elderly parents board, sorry, I was just drinking, so ended up dumping on you guys first (it was sheer luck that the EP board happened to come up on Active).

I might declare I'm having a month off but they will be all emotional about it. They could afford help. They just think it's my duty, or I've fallen into the role. But I have decided to scale back contact a lot. I've learned the FOG thing on these boards (Fear, Obligation, Guilt) and it sums up a lot.

Weezol · 14/06/2018 18:39

Lighthouse This is the stuff I get (sorry, don't know how to make the link less ridiculous).

False alarm, sorry! Receipt safe and well.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 15/06/2018 01:43

I don't like using this thread to talk about GG but so e things can't go unchallenged

Eg the accusation of Lazy thinking re criticism of GG's opinions - it's always curious how some launch personal attacks on people when they can't handle criticism - this time of GG - it's like she's a cult leader to them. Personal sideswipes are not a rebuttal but verbal abuse.

KittyKlaws · 15/06/2018 09:18

I can't believe this but I don't think I've ever been in the pub. Setting my glass down here. Hello lovely women Wine

KittyKlaws · 15/06/2018 09:20

I've been correcting people about GG all week. Not a single one of them had seen the comment in context or really knew what it meant, they were just repeating headlines. Very irritating.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 15/06/2018 09:22

do you serve brunch?

re GG I listened to her talk at Hay so my comments are based on what she actually said not what was reported :)

LighthouseSouth · 15/06/2018 10:27

can't read the GG article as I am not a Times subscriber. I also listened to the link given by woman and much as I wanted some of the things I heard to be wrong, they weren't....unless I misunderstood what GG was saying.

LighthouseSouth · 15/06/2018 10:27

@KittyKlaws - welcome along!

ErrolTheDragon · 15/06/2018 11:50

Here's a sharetoken link to the Sunday times column mentioned. I'm not a fan of camilla long (note use of 'screeching' in this piece Hmm) but she's probably got a point about what passes for 'feminism' nowadays.

LighthouseSouth · 15/06/2018 12:07

Thanks for the sharetoken Errol.

Every clarifaction confuses me further. Either the policy is as announced or it isn't. Produce a definitive version or don't produce anything.

Beta testing exists for a reason. The more that comes out, the more I think that hq is just three yummy mummies brainstorming round the kitchen table over Whittards and Duchy originals while nanny deals with the children. I know this is wrong, but I have been really feeling my working class northerness has nothing to relate to over this whole situation. Apologies to any Whittards/DO fans, nannies or people who employ nannies, I'm quite angry over all this.

Can I go in the back and wash some glasses until I've calmed down a bit?

LighthouseSouth · 15/06/2018 13:28

Weezol, I think there's probably a LOT of glasses to wash! But I also imagine we have a dishwasher?

does Whittards still exist? I don't really shop so I don't know. I thought it went bankrupt or something.

Weezol · 15/06/2018 13:54

Light, while my own kitchen is a shocker, I find doing other people's washing up incredibly relaxing and rewarding. I have washed up for a living and it was a job I thoroughly enjoyed.

Does this mean I belong under the Stonewall Umbrella in some way? Should I be identifying as transhygenist or something? AutoLaverPhile? Maybe I could get a grant from the Arts Council to mount an installation at the pub and fund free bar snacks with proceeds. Perhaps The Guardian will sponsor me.
