Choking women

A good (rare non porn adoring) article from the Guardian questioning the popularity of choking women for sexual gratification.

The author makes the observation that it’s the perfect instrument of misogyny as it both hurts and silences women in one swoop.

Especially the way women who're uncomfortable with the whole thing were being not only shouted down but shamed for their discomfort. "You're a prude" is basically "you better do this or else", socially speaking.

The blaming the victim/whistleblower would no doubt be strong - I haven't read the original thread and don't intend to

Especially concerning for me was that people who were supporting the most extreme, high risk activity were labelling everything and everyone less extreme as 'vanilla', as an insult.
That mindset believes in a hierarchy of activity rated by danger. That attitude is not from the BDSM community.

The way social media enables such deviancy as paedophilia and high risk sexual behaviour to be normalised is shocking - the sadistic and psychopathic men who enjoy the grooming, stalking and the distress it causes are abusers - pure and simple. Probably sex offenders as well if their targets did but know. The fact their activity is not prosecuted does not mean they do no harm.
