The NUStrans18 conference that Rose discusses:

Free speech / non-platforming in universities:
this week as reported in The Times:
Sam Gyimah, the universities minister, will announce tough guidance on the issue at a meeting today, calling attempts to silence debate “chilling”.

He will accuse some student societies of “institutional hostility” to certain unfashionable but perfectly lawful views. A “murky” legal landscape, with guidance from various regulators, lets zealots censor those with whom they disagree, Mr Gyimah will say.

I don't know what was going on this morning... sincere apologies!

This is the video in which Rose discusses the NUS Trans conference, the power of non-binary ideology, hard left politics and more...

its worth watching Rose's other videos too.

Thanks Rowan!

She's getting sarkier in her videos!

R0wantrees · 06/05/2018 18:55

I'm not surprised!
I think this video and the issues she raises really deserve a much wider audience.

WTF is chemsex? It’s referred to in Rose’s video, but wikipedia is no help and I’m scared to google.

"What is chemsex?
Strictly speaking, chemsex refers to gay or bisexual men using drugs to facilitate sex with other men. Culturally, though, it has become a catch-all term for sex involving drugs and "chemsex parties", where groups of gay and bisexual men meet up, get high, and have sex with one another.

It's important to note that it's distinct from drug use which later leads to sexual activity: chemsex is where men take a certain drug or drugs because they are about to have sex."

By Clare Wilson
"No chemsex please, we’re British. It has widely been reported this morning that the UK government is gunning for chemsex in its new drug strategy, published today. But what is it, and is it really that bad?

Sorry, what is chemsex again?

It’s when people take drugs that enhance sex and make them feel uninhibited, more often in some gay communities. Typically it involves crystal methamphetamine, GHB (gamma hydroxybutyrate) or mephedrone, also known as miaow miaow, which can be snorted or swallowed. There’s also “slamsex”, which is when the drugs are injected for a more intense high.

I wasn’t taught about this in my school Sex Ed lessons

The trend has taken off in the last ten years or so, probably because of the rising use of these particular drugs along with the boom in hook-up apps."

Thank you Rowan. I’m a bit perplexed about how this differs from long-standing practices like using eg poppers at orgies and sex parties etc, apart from the inclusion of the newer drugs. Isn’t it just a cool new name for age-old practices?

There are higher risks associated.
Sexual health and drug /alcohol health services etc need to have harm reduction/minimisation principles and approach.

bjgp.org/content/66/642/4
PROBLEMS ASSOCIATED WITH CHEMSEX
Chemsex presents potentially harmful effects that are different from those linked to other recreational drugs and how they are used. Methamphetamine, GHB/GBL, and mephedrone can all lead to unwanted effects including agitation, anxiety, paranoia, aggression, and psychoses. Intense comedowns can cause users to feel suicidal. All drugs can lead to dependency for the user, which can happen quite rapidly after a relatively short, intense period of use. There are reports of overdose with unconsciousness and death.10 Serious drug interactions with a range of drugs including alcohol and HIV antiretroviral medications can occur.

The drugs have been associated with increased sexual risk behaviours, such as unprotected sex, which may lead to an increase in sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV. The drugs may also increase disinhibition and hypersexuality, leading to unwanted sexual experiences that users later regret. Some drugs can induce coma and there are reports of use associated with sexual assault.4 The anaesthetic nature of some drugs facilitates longer sexual encounters, sex with multiple partners, and can lead to increased rectal, penile, or vaginal trauma, all of which may facilitate STI/HIV transmission. Some drugs can be administered intravenously, which increases the risk of transmission of blood-borne viruses including HIV and hepatitis B and C. There are concerns about emerging patterns of injecting drug use, particularly among MSM, and there is evidence to suggest poorer adherence to antiretroviral medications and drug interactions among HIV-positive chemsex users."

Yikes! Thank you R0wan - that was highly educational.

I love her videos and like a pp I think she's definitely loosing her patience with those seeking co-opt the transsexual experience.

I was very interested to hear the proliferation of non- binary representation.

I watched the whole bathroom debacle unfold on twitter and frankly it was a stark demonstration of ideology in action as opposed to meaningful debate.
