I thought it was an interesting look at things and made me understand a bit more why I feel uncomfortable with the 'it's their choice to sell their bodies' rhetoric.

clicky

It's interesting that these conversations are happening,
There is great hypocrisy within the liberal feminist mindset, who want to make sex trade "just a job" but then get appalled by men who believe they are entitled to sex.

There was a lot of confusion surrounding the feminist and sexual revolution in the 60's, the pill came available for women which was a huge liberation, the mini skirt, the creation of the word "teenager" but what it all led to was a huge increase in porn (even prior to the internet) page 3, top shelf mags, and the normalisation of prostitution and use of prostitutes.
It worked out to be more of a men's sexual liberation and a women's sexual compliance revolution.

Liberal feminists have never quite worked through this.

Liberals do honestly believe that legalisation of all prostitution is what's best for the workers themselves and an element of this is true, they do sincerely believe it's the right thing but can't see how hypocritical it is. Unfortunately all of the biggest liberal feminism media hss been taken over by pro pimp lobbyists and men who identify as women who have an awful lot of influence.

How does one do a click link on a mobile? Irrelevant to conversation at hand of course.

I think my difficulty is that prostitution allows men the 'freedom' to think of women as objects which is exactly what feminism as I know it is trying to combat.
I also think sometimes liberalism is conflated with acceptance of anything anyone wants to do if it doesn't harm anyone else. The problem is if you are blind to the harm things cause.

Ahh, beautiful post by Feminist Current. The delightful sound of the 'gotcha''.

And it took the Incel/Redistribution of Sex thing to expose that? Wish we had known this years ago, would have saved so much time trying to get the Nordic Model argument across. Sigh.

No amount of citing what has happened when 'legalisation' occurred, managed to sway their minds - that conditions never improved for 'the workers', trafficking increased, and pimps made off like bandits.

It took Incels. Redistribution of Sex.

And yet, they used to argue 'what about disabled men [who deserve sex?] as an actual argument. By default, that is a 'redistribution' argument, they just would not see it.

Opheliah · 05/05/2018 08:53

what about disabled men who deserve sex?

I know! Let's just make sure we organise other women (not ourselves obvs) to be freely available for men who are "just socially awkward" or disabled but have the money. Where is the thought for men who are socially awkward need sex it have no money? It's classest.

It's also very odd that the lib feminist priorities are not aiming to provide women who are disabled or women who are socially awkward access to sex with men.

To do a link you copy and paste the url into the post. It looks like you did that anyway so don't know why yours isn't clickable. Maybe press 'enter' after it?

You need double square brackets enclosing a link to make it clicky

link in middle with no spaces
