It wasn't clear. I read it the same way first off and hadn't seen any twitter threads about it. This stuff is beyond parody much of the time, so people can hardly be blamed for thinking it meant trans identified females. And please don't call women TERFs.

Obviously I read it wrongly at first, however I have seen some utterly batshit stuff recently and this appeared to be another one of those.
