Hello everyone

I know a lot of people have been asking for template letters to send to their MPs so I have consulted with the other members of Sex Matters and come up with a template which I hope will help.

I have gone for a format which I hope will enable you to pick and choose which issues mean the most to you. I think MPs are best approached on one or two issues which you feel passionate about and can perhaps expand on the information I have given.

It is really important to personalise these letters as much as you can. The best results so far have come from people meeting their MP or MSP so if you feel able to do that please include it in your letter. The template letter is intended as a guide to help you get started, with links to evidence for any issues raised.

I will be refining the template as we go along, so if there is an issue which isn't covered please just let me know. Equally, if you think there is an issue which isn't quite right please tell me and I will amend it.

If you would like a template, please PM me and I will send it over.

Many thanks
Badger and Sex Matters

Callmejudith · 29/03/2018 10:33

Badger can you PM me too please

AuntyElle · 29/03/2018 10:35

Could you PM me please? Thank you for doing this.

Stilettosandan0venglove · 29/03/2018 10:42

Really good template, Badger thanks.

Comedyusername · 29/03/2018 10:47

I would like the template please, but can't figure out how to DM on the app. My Tory MP seems pretty toothless so I don't expect anything to happen as a result, but I can but try...

Comedyusername · 29/03/2018 10:49

Also, I think my mum will write to her's too as she asked me the other day what we as your 'average' woman can do to get heard

needmorespace · 29/03/2018 12:11

template for me as well please

Stilettosandan0venglove · 29/03/2018 16:06

So I sent a follow up email after a long wait, and got a reply from a member of the MP's team straight away. I now have an appointment to see the MP, in several weeks time. No mention was made of his views, which I'm actually not disappointed about. I wasn't looking forward to getting a standard bland reply which I'd then have to argue with. I'm hoping that in person he might be less guarded and tell me what he thinks.

Stilettos great result!

Really good as well that you have some time to plan and research, let me know if I can help with anything.

Yes please @Badgerthebodger to the template

Stilettosandan0venglove · 29/03/2018 21:57

Thanks Badger that's kind. Any advice gratefully received! I'm not very confident but I will do my research and try my best to be clear and calm. I'll probably have my baby there for moral support Confused

I think the SAGES leaflet is great to take with you. Lots of well-researched points and quite short and to the point which is great. Again, I would probably stick to one or two issues you feel passionate about, do some research and really push your MP for a proper response.

Could I have a PM please Badger.

Terf & I seem to share an MP & I've been wondering what his response would be for a while but haven't been able to form a concise way of getting my concerns across.

I'm a serial lurker in these threads & find you all really inspirational. Thank you for all the work you've been putting in.

Ginpuddles · 30/03/2018 21:18

@Badgerthebodger - could I have a PM too please?

Thanks
flowersonthepiano · 30/03/2018 21:46

Badgerthebodger thanks for doing this. I have just pmed you asking for the letter.

I just wondered if anyone has heard anything from my MP (Lisa Nandy) on this? I googled but can't find anything. My gut feeling is that she might be sympathetic...but then she seems very ambitious, so may be keeping her head beneath the parapet..

PetraDelphiki · 30/03/2018 21:49

Could I have the template too please?

50ShadesOfEarlGrey · 30/03/2018 22:12

May I have a template please Badger.

FrenchLimeBlossom · 31/03/2018 17:53

May I also please have a template badger

TerfWarz · 31/03/2018 17:54

I'd like to send a letter please.

Badgerthebodger · 31/03/2018 20:14

Think I'm up to date again so please let me know if you have asked for a letter and haven't got one.

Happy letter writing everyone! I've sent out 44 templates so far, which is a fantastic response - you're all in good company Smile

Could I have a template too please.

I've been putting off writing to my MP as I know him personally and have been an activist for twenty years - it's really daunting to potentially cut myself off from my political friends and place in the community but I can't avoid it much longer. Writing letters will be a good distraction to fill some of the time I would normally spend working for the local elections.

invisibleoldwoman · 01/04/2018 16:04

I've pm'd for a template. Got a bit confused with the instructions. Also, are you all emailing or writing snail mail, which is best or doesn't it matter these days? (showing my age here)

Bufferingkisses · 01/04/2018 16:10

Hi, could you pm me please? I wrote a personal email to my mp and didn't even get an acknowledgement. I want to try again as she's usually reasonably decent and doesn't toe the party line at all costs. I'd actually really like to sit down and discuss this with her Blush

Byebyebye · 01/04/2018 16:15

May I have a template please Badger
