Support for women's rights: who to follow?

TheMonstrousRegiment · 11/03/2018 23:51

First post, so hope I've got the format etc correct.

There are many people in RL that are putting themselves in the line of fire to fight for women's rights. They are very brave and many of them are taking an absolute bashing for it. I'd really like to give them whatever support I can. I do not currently have a twitter account, but I am planning to sign up.

Could we create a thread here with names of people that we could follow and show our support. I think the more that we can band together in RL and SM, the more our voices can be heard and the more people we can reach. Those out in the line of fire can take some comfort in knowing that their support base is growing and we are behind them. They are not being silenced.

I'll start with the ones I have:
Jennifer James
Dr. Nicola Williams (Fair Play for Women)
Hadley Freeman
Lisa Marie @xLiserx
Sarah Ditum
Jenn Smith
Hope Lye
Peach Yoghurt
Jessica Eaton
Betty Bandit
Anne Veriato
Jaiyah Saelua (thanks to Hairy)
Posieparker (is this her name outside of MN as well?)
Venice Allen
Ron Liddle
Heather Brunskell-Evans

I haven't researched everyone on this list, so please let me know if I've gotten names wrong or such. Thanks!

Anne Ruzylo is good. She is the woman who was ousted as labour women's officer.

And Lily Maynard. She comes in for so much stick. Her daughter detransitioned, so she is anathema to transactivists.

Miranda Yardley. A TIM ally.

I'm not on Twitter. But I still take a look quite often.

So this is a great list. Thanks OP.

I think that Jenny Jones of the Green party is leaning our way. She has retweeted information about Women's Place meeting and commented on aggression by trans activists.

sashh · 12/03/2018 09:28

Jean Hatchet, raised money for Ched Evan's victim, led the campaign to stop him getting his old job back and was thanked with death threats and rape threats.

She is currently doing bike rides in memory of women killed by men who knew them.

Wonderful! Thank you everyone!

There was a man who wrote an article that someone posted here recently, but I can't remember his name. Graham or something. (He wasn't going to post anymore, but then said screw it or something to that effect.) Can anyone remember who he was and if he's a good choice to follow?

Thanks again!Flowers

Graham Linehan? Glinner. He hasn't said alot since to be fair.

TheMonstrousRegiment · 12/03/2018 17:13

Oh ok thanks TERF.

Darn, the piece I read was pretty fiery, so I was hoping he was fighting the fight. Maybe some twitter support will get him back on board if he's taken a bashing.

I still have hope...Robin Ince as well...hope for both of them.

Hulo · 12/03/2018 17:17

I've found a few that offer some differing perspectives:

Nicky K.D Chaleunphone - she is intersex. She reflects how unhappy many intersex people are at being co-opted by trans activists

Yvette@yvette_top - trans woman, former sex worker

Michael Conroy@MichaelConroy68 - GC male ally

Rachel Murphy@glitter_fire - mtf but regrets (was/is a feminine gay man). I never thought of phantom penis feeling being a thing before
