Twitter comment from Heather -

Today @WEP_UK have reached the conclusion to their investigation. They say they recommend I do not continue in my role as Party Spokeswoman for violence against women and girls to take effect immediately. I will not appeal and I resign my membership #vawg

Nothing on WEP website or twitter - utterly spineless idiots.

I'm not a member, cancelled my membership after their disastrous web chats on here. So I've no stake in this. But can't help feel for Heather. Completely undeserved & illustrates just how absurd this whole trans ideology is when someone like Heather isn't the 'right sort' of advocate/expert on the subject of violence against women & girls, and the vacuous accusation of 'transphobia' takes precedence over her clear compassion on a subject that actually matters.

I saw Heather at a meeting in Glasgow & was really impressed by her considered care and expertise, not least because she was ill & still made the journey to come up and share her thoughts with us. She's worth 100 of those trans hypnotised eejits too busy fawning over the trans cult.

smh

That's great @Bumblebzz

I think there will be more and more who do this, and who spread the word.

Ouchbirthhurted · 22/02/2018 09:09

Little I don't think the general public have a clue about any of the stakes in this. I think raising awareness of the issues in the first place is the key.

Maryz · 22/02/2018 09:33

Their "inclusiveness" and not wanting people to disrespect each other can be translated as "let's not be nasty to the menz". They don't seem to mind anyone being nasty to women [baffled]

I too am disappointed in Sandi Tosvig. but it will be hard for her, being so much more in the public eye, to walk away. The general public won't care about HBE, but ST's tv career will be in danger if she speaks up.

They started the WEP with such high hopes Sad

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 22/02/2018 10:26

ST's tv career will be in danger if she speaks up.

She's happily making comments on TV about lesbians not being into penis though, which suggests she's not entirely on-message.

Nosetothesun · 22/02/2018 11:01

I have cancelled my membership of WEP today

MisDescamisados · 22/02/2018 13:46

Thing is, if - as they hold - that a “woman is they who defines themsleves as such “ , then surely that’s rendering womanhood notional , rather than physical , measurable and recognisable ?

Given that , then who’s - exactly - equality do they claim to stand for ?

It becomes the “nonsensical word’s equality party “ .

Seriously , this socialist feminist feels like a political orphan now .
I can only hope this party set up to oppose Brexit , modelled on the “en marche” movement , has got the sense and intergrity to stand for actual womens righs , as well .

Melamin · 22/02/2018 16:42

It is the Whatever Equality Party, Whatevers being not men.

Cwenthryth · 22/02/2018 19:25

ST's tv career will be in danger if she speaks up

She’s no stranger to controversy, she publicly came out at a time when she could fully expect being open about her sexuality would cost her her career. She’s also patron of the Humanists UK - which is strong on defending freedom of speech and expression. She’s weathered worse than whatever trans rights activists could threaten her with for stating that lesbians do not have penises.

WEP’s statement includes the following: However, the party has more work to do to respond to challenging questions about how to maintain sex as a protected characteristic, while finding better ways to support trans women and other trans people.

One, teeny, tiny shred of hope.

rowdywoman1 · 22/02/2018 19:36

Cwenthryth
I'm not convinced that comment means anything other than 'we've noticed support and money haemorrhaging away and are desperate about the mess we're in'.
The natal women in the party will NEVER be allowed to stand up for the rights and safety of women and children. The trans activists will not allow it.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 22/02/2018 20:33

I didn't ever think I'd be smirking at watching their twitter feed implode but here we are Sad

Melamin · 22/02/2018 20:40

It is sad. I heard about them when ST left the news quiz. I was hopeful then they didn’t seem to be doing anything. Then this. Wasted opportunity.

ChattyLion · 22/02/2018 20:51

Flowers Brava HB-E.
this ‘safe spaces’ censoring to protect students from being able to hear (..depending on your politics, and at the very worst..) perhaps dislikeable ideas, baffles me.

rowdywoman1 · 22/02/2018 20:56

Their twitter Shock What a car crash.
My favourite comment is You had ONE job

thebewilderness · 22/02/2018 21:46

We were warned about the dangers of discrimination in the name of equality. That is what we are seeing here.

"The law, in its majestic equality, forbids the rich as well as the poor to sleep under bridges, to beg in the streets, and to steal bread." Anatole France
George Orwell — 'All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."
All people are equal but "transwomen" are more equal than others.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 22/02/2018 23:31

You had ONE job

Grin

Fuck them. HB-E was wasted on them. She still has her audience and now it's bigger than ever.

PlectrumElectrum · 22/02/2018 23:39

Hmm WEP really are utterly tone deaf. Latest 'statement' wordsalad digs that hole further & underlines their inability to invoke some introspection in light of the constructive feedback they've had. They really do deserve to fold once the membership cancellations bite.

OP posts:
crunchymint · 23/02/2018 00:50

They obviously think they will get more support with this decision than supporting Heather. I think they are forgetting that they need feminist activists. Feminists who care enough about women to donate money and put time in. Those supporting men are not going to do this. I really think this is the beginning of the end, although I suspect it will be a long slow death.

Bejazzled · 23/02/2018 01:06

A curse on their houses - 'women's ' equality party my arse

BertrandRussell · 23/02/2018 01:12

I’ve cancelled my WEP membership too. And, incidentally, my dog’s. I didn’t consult her, though. I’ll break it to her in the morning.

TheButterflyOfTheStorms · 23/02/2018 03:13

@ChattyLion I think the entire ethos of university seems to have changed in one generation.

When I was there we were expected to read, consider and understand primary sources like the writings of Sinn Fein members, South African apartheid architects and Nazis. What happened to 'know thine enemy'? Now it seems to be 'we've banned thine enemy so you no longer have to hear the mean people'. Don't consider their position or try to understand it. #nodebate

MrsOvarall · 23/02/2018 07:14

The WEP have lost my support over this as well. We need people like HBE speaking out for women. What were they thinking?

Ouchbirthhurted · 25/02/2018 22:13

The Butterfly and the people that some are too frightened to listen to are simply women with views about what is important to biological women and their rights and equality. What is frightening about that? Why would anyone who wants to live their life as a woman be afraid of listening to that?

Ouchbirthhurted · 25/02/2018 22:17

Thanks for posting that statement Mimi. Freedom of speech is critical.

Kikashi · 26/02/2018 08:17

Another thanks mimi some sanity does prevail.
