What do you all think if this? It doesn’t seem fair to me

They loved watching Fallon Fox beat the shit out of that woman. It's good business sense and it lets men be violent against women whilst being PC. Fabulous. .

whoputthecatout · 14/02/2018 16:32

And yet in male boxing if a middleweight (160 lbs) decided he wanted to play a flyweight (112 lbs) the answer would be No. Not fair, too much size advantage, reach advantage etc.

But a 6 ft 3 bloke wanting to play Aussie rules with a 5ft 6 female - okey dokey - no worries mate. (Wonder if they suggested it would be a good idea to try not to break a woman's neck? Doubt it)

powershowerforanhour · 14/02/2018 16:57

"Who will pay to watch it?"
Yep, the sort of person who, centuries ago, would have been up the front cheering when Christians got torn apart by lions and going off for a wank (or a trafficked prostitute) afterwards.
The most hardcore misogynists who will get a nice hard on watching women be "put in their place" (ie have the daylights battered out of them), by their superiors. The natural order is restored and it's all legal hurrah! (a not dissimilar kick to the legal in "barely legal teens").

mimivanne · 14/02/2018 17:09

I posted earlier about my slight rugby playing daughter. At the end of one game when she had been at the bottom of a tackle once too often,I did the Gladiator film 'Maximiss,Maximiss,Maximiss' gesture when she came off the pitch.
Clairvoyant and a horrifying prospect

Greensmurfterf · 14/02/2018 17:24

Well it'll hopefully peak trans a fair few people.

My mind boggles that anyone thinks this is acceptable. The world truly has gone mad.

This is from October. Dude bros telling women they should be offended that the league don't think they are hard enough to take Hannah.

Well why not just get rid of different sex teams altogether?

Sports organizations are providing incredible opportunities for members of the He-Man Woman Haters Club.

Many thanks for the link

I was reading about this yesterday with my jaw on the floor. I also read the comments from his fellow Australians. There was the usual obsequious crap from his adoring handmaidens, but there were also a lot of comments from men who were absolutely horrified that things were allowed to go this far.

PastaOfMuppets · 15/02/2018 05:58

To my knowledge, no one has actually surveyed or asked the women's players in the league what they think is right or fair. And plenty of women would be scared for the female players and for the broader precedent set, but too fearful of a misogynist backlash or the label of transphobia to speak out. (Australian perspective)

SaggyWombedOne · 15/02/2018 10:27

Apart from the safety issue (which is a huge fucking issue), having men on the women's team could totally change the way the team plays and perhaps give an unfair advantage to this team over others who don't have a bloke in them. From my experience of team sports (hockey, primarily) the dynamic of the women's game is often different - often more skilled and sophisticated and less about brute strength. It's so sad that this is happening but at least by getting it out into the open the rest of the world outside of the feminist-reading gender-critical bubble will start to see this madness for what it is.

AngryAttackKittens · 15/02/2018 10:31

"There'll be a few more people at the game hopefully, I think there'd be a lot more people interested to see what happens," Rourke said.

At least gladiators won their freedom if they survived their bout of let's entertain the howling mob by giving them some bloodletting to cheer on. What are the women playing against this giant mound of muscle going to get?

ALittleBitOfButter · 15/02/2018 10:44

Australian here. He calls himself a lesbian so he clearly doesn't give a fuck about violating women's spaces.

OvaHere · 15/02/2018 10:53

ALittleBitOfButter

How do Australians feel about this? The media likes to give the impression that there is a lot of support but I find that hard to imagine.

I've been very Hmm about the reporting that Mouncey has received transphobic abuse about this. I'm sure there are some men that have said some nasty things but imagine most of this 'abuse' is pointing out how dangerous and damaging this is to women's sport.

OvaHere · 15/02/2018 11:09

Someone should send this to Mouncey

Transgender Woman Anne Veriato to Make Her MMA Debut vs. Male Opponent

"It's only fair to fight men," she told MMA Fighting's Guilherme Cruz this week. "It never crossed my mind to fight a woman because I think I'm too good. ... I don't think it's fair to fight women."

Agerbilatemycardigan · 15/02/2018 12:31

This is a link from an article written last year about Mouncey and other TIMs involved in women's sports.

gendertrender.wordpress.com/category/sports/?iframe=true&preview=true%2Ffeed%2F

It includes this paragraph...

Callum Mouncey, now “Hannah”, saw the potential at succeeding in Footy that he never qualified for as a man among men. By competing against women, he could rise to the top echelon of elite Footy players in the most popular sport in Australia. He abandoned his plans to apply for the female handball team and joined a regional minor league women’s team in Canberra, announcing his intention to prepare for the first major league women’s draft. Unsurprisingly, at six-foot-two and 220 pounds of male musculature, Hannah displaced a female athlete, and under direction of the team’s male coach played as the team “Rucker”.

and this one..

Australian Football is not, as has been widely misreported, a form of soccer. It is a full contact, full body, tackle sport played with an oval ball similar to an American football. The ball is bounced, kicked and carried, and features repeated “toss ups” where the biggest, tallest players (called “Ruckers”) engage in one-on-one combat for control of the ball.

Agerbilatemycardigan · 15/02/2018 12:32

Prick!

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 15/02/2018 12:36

"It's only fair to fight men," she told MMA Fighting's Guilherme Cruz this week. "It never crossed my mind to fight a woman because I think I'm too good. ... I don't think it's fair to fight women."

I have so much admiration for this person. rather than taking the 'easy route' and putting women in danger.

ALittleBitOfButter · 15/02/2018 19:22

Ova no one is discussing it on forums I'm on. The media are fine about it because AFL culture is disgustingly sexist and that includes football commentators. Gallus Mag was right in her analysis. It's "fair" for him, fuck the women. Women's football is dead before it started.

ALittleBitOfButter · 15/02/2018 19:26

He's like Muscato. When you hear him on the radio he talks completely like a man - no falsetto or that campy simpering that men often perceive women to talk like. Just a colonising misogynist. Good for peak trans I suppose...

BarrackerBarmer · 15/02/2018 19:32

I feel sorry for the women, but also frustrated. They need to organise and protest.

You can either stand for it and praise his stunning bravery blahblah and hope he doesn't break your neck, or you can organise and make a stand.
Boycott the games. Sit down when the whistle blows. Walk off the pitch. Anything other than tacit acceptance.
There will be SOME support for women doing this as evidenced by the public disapproval of Mouncey. Make things hit the headlines. There's literally no point in carrying on in the sport anyway now.

Either way the sport is screwed, so might as well go down fighting this injustice.

I know it's scary, but women have to make a stand. If every woman passes the buck to the next one there is literally no atrocity too great that won't be justified.

Five years ago this would have been unthinkable. What will it actually take for people to stop this?

OvaHere · 15/02/2018 20:06

That's disappointing but not that surprising I guess. It occurred to me earlier that the people who make money from Women's AFL behind the scenes (who are probably men) may well be thinking that more people will consider the games worth watching if men are competing (regardless of how they identify). I've seen a few 'it might be worth watching now' comments from blokes.

Barracker

I agree, which I realise is easy for us to say sat here but I do think there would be huge support and publicity if they staged a sit in or similar.

Look at all the attention the take a knee protest got in the US.

If women en mass refused to compete with these men the sporting bodies would be forced to re assess. I guess though women are not a hive mind and just like on this forum there will be those who have bought into the trans ideology. Quite how when it comes to sport I don't know but there probably are some.
