Not open to comments yet. If it does, maybe an opportunity to state the case?

Owen Jones is arguing on twitter about if the GRA is a Tory or Labour idea.

This is going to end up like the episode of friends where Chandler and Ross argue over who's the author of the monkey joke. Once Monica's pointed out what a sexist load of shite it is, no one wants to take ownership.

RedToothBrush · 18/12/2017 07:29

Owen Jones is not a journalist.

He is an opinion column writer employed to get the Guardian revenue through click bait.

He's the left's Hatey Hopkins and should be treated as such.

Yes! Two cheeks of the same backside.

I notice that while most of the rest of the Guardian's columnists (e.g. Zoe Williams, John Harris) also write features for the paper, Jones never does. That's unusual - in newspaper-land, it tends only to be the big star names who get to have a column and nothing else.

@catgirl1976 that is so perfect. Great post. It's been bothering me why there was universal bitter condemnation of Rachel Dolezal but this is all fine.

Ekphrasis · 18/12/2017 13:54

Yes I agree catgirl.

I think there has been wine tbh. I believe she became completely bankrupt. No one wanted to work with her.

I will take scholarships and places on committees set up to increase black participation in public life or education and I will take the places from genetically black people and expect to be lauded for it

This is exactly what Rachel did - by entering her artwork and gaining a scholarship for young Black artists. I'm not sure why it wasn't withdrawn; I think there was confusion over if she was black or white, though I read they were surprised to find she was white. But I can see as a white person that this was out of line.
