What do people think of these photos?

This link of a man's photos of his toddler daughter popped up on my facebook. Lots of people think the photos are pornographic apparently which I think is hokum.

And yet I feel uncomfortable on her behalf. I don't like the thought that her body is being displayed for thousands of people who don't know her and don't care about her.

I can't quite articulate why. He has a son too apparently but those images aren't in the article (if he's taken any).

Would be interested in your views. I'm struggling to articulate what my issue is but I think she's being exploited.

I have lots of pictures of my boys naked, they preferred being naked, so if I wanted photos of them as toddlers, they kinda had to be naked ones! I have no problem with his pictures per se, some of them are rather lovely, the effects of light are beautiful.

but... I wouldn't broadcast my son's naked photos to a wide audience. Not because they are inherently pornographic, but because there are people out there in the real world who would use them as such.

I also had this discussion recently with my hubby and a friend, and they both thought I was being silly. I feel that it's just not right to display vast amounts of baby photos online when the child is still far too young to really understand the concept and implications of strangers viewing intimate moments from their childhood. A few baby/toddler pics are just fine but some people just broadcast every moment of their child's existence and to me it seems unnecessary and somehow slightly morally dubious.

Some of the pictures are totally wrong, particularly for public consumption. Honestly I am in shock that a parent would a) take pictures like this and b) publish them. Don't like the dress being hitched up one or the hands down the trousers or the naked crying pics.

Wrong on so many levels to display them on a public forum. Whether or not they are pornographic is immaterial. They will be used by sickos to get their rocks off. The days of innocent naked children are long gone, sadly.

The pictures are not wrong, but not for public consumption.

I have always had a life rule never to allow myself to be photographed by anyone or allow an image that could compromise my privacy if fallen into the wrong hands and I apply that same rule to my children.

So I would never have taken these photographs of my kids.

I understand what you mean OP, there's nothing wrong with the father taking those pictures to document a road trip, but it's not fair on the child for them to be available for millions to see when she has no say in it. The sad fact is that there are people out there who would like those pictures for the wrong reasons.

The man is obviously a VERY good photographer. He should be proud of the photos. However... there are a couple that if they were my DC I would not want shown to the public - though there's nothing wrong with them and it's exactly how little girls behave. The others are quite innocent though. If I took photos that great I think I'd want to show them to the world too...

The link is to the Huffington Post, and the photographs are not obscene.

But I would not have published a number of them had it been my DC. Even a good quality pic of potty training would be private not public to me.

The photos are normal family pics of which similar I am sure are in a lot of family albums that are brought out by mothers to embarrass their now grown children in front of new partners. My problem is with the father's (photographers) intention to open up these intimate moments to the public for in my opinion his own publicity. Shame.

CK you are not the only one! I haven't clicked and won't....but I am funny about social media.. I don't do Facebook and I definitely don't share my children's photos with anyone except granny.

Yes, it's a shame to share such intimate childhood pictures with the world, the pictures (regardless of content) are beautiful, he is very good. However, he could photograph something that isn't his naked children.

The one of her bouncing on the bed looks fine, but some of the others - why would you take a photo of a child on a potty in the middle of a road? Well, you might for future blackmail purposes with future partners, but you wouldn't normally make them public.

Honestly, the photographs really aren't horrible - I wouldn't link to anything that was (and it's a Huffington Post link as others have said).

They're beautiful photographs. But exploitative. I'd be furious if he were my father.

I wouldn't make photos of my DD naked or semi-naked public either.

The worst one for me is the one with her hands down her trousers. Perfectly normal & innocent toddler behaviour - but it makes me sick to think how a paedophile might see it.

I have two DDs and I think they are fantastic photos.

However if these were of my DDs, I wouldn't want the world to see the first two photos as I'd be worried about who would be perving over them. I don't think the naked photos are too bad though.

Are there zillions of paedophiles looking at these sorts of pics though? It seems to me that these would be of little interest to paedophiles who can access all sorts of horrific abuse pretty easily elsewhere on t' web.
Storm in a teacup, although I could clearly be wrong as I admit I know almost nothing about paedophiles.

Thought 1-3 are pretty normal (little kids that age often put hand down their trousers. It is normal)

Four just make me ask why kid is in road???

Mostly I just think people are odd posting picture of their kids at all on the internet. As for naked or semi naked that is rather bad.

If you have met some of the people I have this last year. I would firmly say avoid posting even clothed photos because there are some people out there sicker than anything you would ever think possible.

I think the first two photos look posed or set up- although they probably aren't, I think I dislike them as paedophiles may interprete them as "she's posing for me" which makes me feel sick and angry.

The other photos just look very natural and beautiful.

I agree with stop. I think they are lovely, normal family photos. I too was scared to click on the link but to me they are just normal photos of the sort of stuff that happens every day.

My mum has a photo of me, completely naked, waves splashing up around my bum and me screaming with delight aged about 3/4 in the sea blown up large on her living room wall. No big deal. If it was on the Internet I still wouldn't be bothered.

I think it's a sad time indeed if the innocence of childhood and being able to share and enjoy that as human beings is taken away by the minority of people that are monsters.

I think a child would love to sit in the middle of the road if you let them.

Also remember on some American roads you can drive for a whole day and not see another car, so her being in the road would be perfectly safe, as long as someone was on the lookout.
