I am so angry that this is being thrown around as a book. It is awfully written even if you discount the actual content. Why not re release Erica Jong and Simone de Beauvoir as wanky texts for people who never read books as well?
Frankly the sex is better and the writing may actually be enjoyable too.

lmao

have you read the reviews on amazon... the bad reviews were hilareous and what i could see was that people who dont really read much tended to think it was great... and proper readers hated it... i bought it for 20p in second hand shop where my little one goes to playgroup as i had heard it was good and thought it was about vampires etc lol. my other half read half a page for me and i was quite disgusted by the he said she said writting as i felt the actual skill in writting the book was very poor and it sounded very much like it was written by a high school kid... i have flicked through the book on the loo and i have to admit i was iggling to myself with the rediculous storyline... (i read literotica) there is a lovely site online called literotica.com and it has very good storied with some sex in or some with lots etc so you can pick and choose... and some of the authors in that are absolutely fantastic... and it makes my blood boil that those authors arent known but this drivel is being read by millions lol.

i am probably making myself so hated by people who love the book and i am not dissing what you like but as someoen who can easily read a book a day i felt this was very poor... so thedorakis i am in full agreement lol

Ah so FS is appearing in second hand shops already. That didnt take long!

LineRunner · 09/07/2012 17:41

Haven't read it, no interest. It sounds shite.

KRITIQ · 09/07/2012 21:16

Fifty Sheds of Grey looks pretty good though! :)

SchrodingersMew · 09/07/2012 22:19

steffnexis Did you know there is a Literotica app now?

I haven't read it, have read bits and bobs on Google and have already decided it seems shit.

Everyone I know is reading it now which has shocked me as those people include my very prudish (or so I thought) SIL and my MIL who told me after she got by the anal fisting bit (something is freaking me out knowing my MIL is reading this...).

Whatmeworry · 10/07/2012 07:33

I think the real thing that is getting up some peoples noses is that its clear evidence that women like porn as much as the next man.

And no one reads porn for it's literary worth :)

EclecticShock · 10/07/2012 20:11

I don't think it's well written, it lost me a few pages in. Horses for courses though.

Of course you do. 20 million others, however....

Lucyellensmum12345 · 10/07/2012 20:50

Well, it might be shite, it might be total bollocks representation of D/s but i wish i had written it (and were sitting there counting the 0's on my bank account)

Lucyellensmum12345 · 10/07/2012 20:51

loving 50 sheds though, this is cool

Lucyellensmum12345 · 10/07/2012 20:53

"as she manually adjusted my sprinkler, my inner gardener did a morris dance of delight" Grin

grimbletart · 10/07/2012 20:58

Spend their time reading about it instead of doing it.......Grin

Apparently sales of (ahem) toys have soared, you may find its becoming a How-To manual :o.

LineRunner · 11/07/2012 21:47

I looked at 50 Sheds, and the next day whilst browsing Amazon I was offered innumerable sheds for sale. I clicked on one, and now I have sheds everywhere on my screen.

How easy it is to fall into the trap of sheds.

avenueone · 11/07/2012 21:54

A friend mentioned it today and she said They mustn't have read much of that kind of thing before if they think it is good' I said she should have stopped at They mustn't have read much'......of anything before.
My only thought is that if it has made some women feel for whatever reason that they can read something a bit more smutty than they usually feel able, it is a good thing?

mrspale · 12/07/2012 20:07

I am glad I have found a site where some women actily agree it is utter shit.

I read read the first chaper and found it to bee written simply for simple minds. (I have severe dyslexia and still find it easy to read)

I like to think of my self as a bit of a feminist. I would never read anything that don't make me use my brain. I don't like any books where the female needs freeing, rescuing or empowering by a man.

janmoomoo · 22/07/2012 23:08

I was so fuming that I wasted several hours of my holiday reading it that I threw it in the bin at the airport. Friends are still buying it to "see what all the fuss is about". Its about a complete and utter pile of drivel, E James must be laughing her socks off.

50sheds however, now that's fabulous. "She gazed up at me wide-eyed from the shed floor and bit her lip seductively. Unfortunately it was her top lip so she looked like a piranha."

KRITIQ · 22/07/2012 23:41

'Put on this rubber suit & mask,' I said. 'Kinky,' she purred. 'Yes. Plus you can't be too careful with all that asbestos in the shed roof.' Grin

janji · 23/07/2012 00:19

'I was so fuming that I wasted several hours of my holiday reading it....'

If it was so bad why not stop after the first 30 mins?

SPsFanjoLovesRussellHoward · 23/07/2012 00:30

I read it and can honestly say there is nothing sexy about it. If anything it made me want to sew myself up so no Mr Grey type can get any where near me Grin

He can stick his contract and creepy stalker behaviour up his arse.

I read them and quite enjoyed them, i must have a simple mind. Honestly why all the fuss it's just a book. If you don't like it don't read it but theres no need to let the fact that other people are reading/enjoying it wind you up.
