The group formerly known as women is not allowed to organise politically. The law disallows it.

conwayhall.org.uk/statement-regarding-radfem-2012

"Statement Regarding RadFem 2012
In consultation with the organisers of RadFem 2012 and our legal advisors, Conway Hall has decided not to allow the booking in July 2012 to proceed. This is because it does not conform to our Terms and Conditions for hiring rooms at Conway Hall. In addition, we are not satisfied it conforms with the Equality Act (2010), or reflects our ethos regarding issues of discrimination.

We had sought assurances that the organisers would allow access to all, in order to enable the event to proceed at the venue. We also expressed concern that particular speakers would need to be made aware that whilst welcoming progressive thinking and debate, Conway Hall seeks to uphold inclusivity in respect of both legal obligations and as a principle."

Never mind sex or gender, what kind of person pickets a fundraiser for a rape crisis centre?

enimmead · 03/06/2012 23:40

Exactly.

Blimey, radfems must be bad if it's worse than the BNP and Sinn Fein!

The Muslim group invited the BNP to the discussions.

So perhaps Radfem2012 could have invited a Trans group to the event?

There is no answer to your conundrum dittany. People don't accept your views, maybe you need to consider why that is.

ecclesvet · 04/06/2012 22:48

"Conway Hall claimed..."

You understand that the building itself isn't making these decisions, and that there may have been a change in management?

A mutitude of what?

Most people don't agree with you, not some, from what I've seen online. Conway Hall are not misogynists. You can't call everybody who disagrees with you a misogynist, it's just daft. You use that word so often that it's meaningless, a total 'meh' word.

Conway Hall were probably concerned with any illegalities, or bad press. That's business, not misogyny.

EatsBrainsAndLeaves · 04/06/2012 23:02

I agree with Dittany

SigmundFraude · 04/06/2012 23:06

I wasn't talking about the radfems on here, obviously.

EatsBrainsAndLeaves · 04/06/2012 23:10

I suspect Conway Hall were alarmed at the number of letters, calls, etc they were getting from Transactivists about this and were worried about the possible demonstration Transactivists told Conway Hall they were organising.

TBH SF I don't care what most people think when I decide what are the most valid views. 50 years ago most people in the UK thought white people were superior to black people. They were wrong.

SigmundFraude · 04/06/2012 23:30

Nice. My stupid digs might have some value if you used your noggin, rather than going into 'mustn't deviate from script mode'. You just can't be nice to some people, seriously.

SigmundFraude · 04/06/2012 23:31

@ dittany btw.
