I think someone may not be in a very happy place in their life.

OP posts:
SinicalSanta · 12/12/2011 13:01

where to start...?

HandDivedScallopsrgreat · 12/12/2011 13:38

Oh bless him! He rescues poor little Kenyan woman who doesn't appreciate him and her second husband for the rescuers they are. But he doesn't hate women.

Well there we are. No need for us to be angry then - he isn't. Does he really think that we are angry because someone dumped us? Really?

Not joining the dots between the personal and political might be a good place to start (and a bit more productive than other starting points I thought of Grin).

SinicalSanta · 12/12/2011 13:41

you see, he's able to be rational about being dumped.

something for us ladies to consider, no?

Xmas Grin
Deberny · 12/12/2011 13:42

My first reaction was 'Aaaawwwww" - he's a bit at sea about why women might be a bit cross Grin

HandDivedScallopsrgreat · 12/12/2011 13:47

Rationality - of course - knew there was something missing in our political analysis of sexism and misogyny in mainstream society.

A bit cross Grin. Yep!

Lio · 12/12/2011 14:57

I have no idea what his point is.

blackcurrants · 12/12/2011 15:31

I am angry about people insisting there is nothing to be angry about. It isn't all I am angry about, but why not start there? There's plenty of anger to go around!

Dworkin · 12/12/2011 16:18

My reply to him would be "your point being?".

ElderberrySyrup · 12/12/2011 17:44

His point is that just as he isn't assuming that 'all women are delusional moral vacuums just because she is', we shouldn't assume the same of men.

I don't think he understands feminism very well.

eh?

ElfenorRathbone · 12/12/2011 21:32

You actually couldn't make this up, could you?

Is he actually taking the piss?

Of course, women are only ever angry because they personally have had a bad experience with a man, or men. There is no political, philosophical reason to be angry.

And yet, with a brain like that, he feels perfectly entitled to patronise and mansplain to a woman far more intelligent than him, because his male privilege protects him from knowing that she's more intelligent than him and his lack of intelligence protects him from understanding that she might be coming from a different starting point than the one he is mansplaining her not to start from.

What a thickie. How lucky he is that his male privilege will never reveal to him, just how stunningly stupid he is. He can sail through life convinced that he has the right to converse with women who are simply talking way above what he is intellectually capable of grasping. It must be lovely to have people automatically assume that you're more intelligent than you are just because you've got a prick and to therefore be supremely unaware of how thick you are. I wish I'd had some of that privilege when I was young, I would be ruler of the world by now.

There's a lot of that about.

And the men doing it, mistake it for philosophical musings. And sometimes, the people who decide what is worth discussing, agree with them, because they're all pricks too.

Jeez.

HedleyLamarr · 12/12/2011 22:29

Was he just whining for the sake of it, or has he got too much time on his hands? Don't understand why anyone would post that.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 12/12/2011 22:36

that Kenyan woman was right

he is a joke

Jux · 12/12/2011 22:37

It was a complete waste of pixels on my iPad.

ElfenorRathbone · 12/12/2011 22:43

LOL, one has to have considerable sympathy with Madame La Kenyan, she was very likely on to something...

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 12/12/2011 22:45

Bidisha welcome to Mumsnet Xmas Grin

Have you posted in another name before ?

ElfenorRathbone · 12/12/2011 22:56

She's posted in her own name Aye.

Becoming quite a regular round here, aren't you Bidisha? Xmas Wink

I've just read the two posts about betrayal. Brilliant, searing stuff. FFS willy wavers who wonder why women are angry. FFS.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 12/12/2011 23:05

heh, I always had a feeling she was around IYSWIM

I haven't been on the FWR topic much recently and had a complete break for a couple of months around Sept/Oct/Nov due to the MRA and CSD (common sense derailers)

I should start dropping in more often, but am quite busy frothing at the moment....

I think he needs a pat on the head and a squashed fly biscuit.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 13/12/2011 12:30

Nah, the best example of mansplaining I have seen for a while was that letter from the bloke who thought the woman he had a date with should continue their "relationship"

Oh how I larfed !

I larfed so much I nearly fancied him myself Xmas Wink
