Cameron at PMQs responding to a question by her 'Cameron started laughing after telling Dorries that he knew she was "extremely frustrated".

Provoking MPs' schoolboy mirth at the hint of an innuendo to the female MP, the prime minister joked: "Maybe I should start all over again."

Pausing again, he finally said: "I'm going to give up on this one," and put his hand on the arm of an equally amused Clegg as he set down next to his Lib Dem deputy.'

Arse.

As its dorries he has my forgiveness and in her case it is very possible people laugh at her because she is a prat, not because she is a woman.

She is absolutely a prat. and many other things besides. To treat her in this way was still pathetic. There are 100s of ways to tell someone they're talking shit. Snickering at unintentional Hmm sexual innuendo as a response to a serious question in a serious forum was totally inappropriate.

I hate Mad Nad but bloody hell what a wanker Cameron is. He behaves like a schoolboy. He's the fucking Prime Minister for gods sake.

How his seemingly very intelligent wife stays married to such a prick is beyond my understanding.

What Spoons said. Being annoyed at sexist behaviour from anyone doesn't depend on whether you like the person it happened to. I'd rather he'd called her a stupid ill-informed anti-choice twat, but I still find his actions here deplorable. Twice this year, it's getting rather sadly predictable.

He was such a twat as well - guffawing and playing to the crowd and making it much much worse. He said it on purpose. Mind you, I bet she would say it was all in fun and she's not going to get all PC about it......

well almost I suspect some nice people come from Eton

but clearly some do not as the OP shows.

Bloody immaturity seems to be stock in trade of some public schoolboys (I emphasise some) and it is the main reason I backed away from marrying one, him and his immature mates.

Humphrey Lyttleton went to Eton (only because his father worked there) and he was virtually a god. And a socialist. But that wouldn't stop me closing it down.

'calm down dear' was much worse becasue it was deliberate attempt to patronise and belittle

I dunno, seems like he said it and then realised what it sounded rather than setting out with an intent to belittle IYSWIM

I'm sure we've all been in a situation where we say something and suddenly you think 'oh that sounded rude' and laughed

I thought Dorries' question was silly and disingenuous as it was clearly a dig about support for own amendment. It was like the 'joke' question at the end of Question Time, and deserved to be be ridiculed BUT, I do think Cameron acted like a sniggering schoolboy. Didn't realise she stormed out!

At least she'll have something else to seek publicity with, seeing as she lost her amendment so tragically.

I'm actually embarrassed that he is our PM. He is embarrassing his country on the world stage.

Can he stop sniggering and start trying to tackle, I don't know, something like the double dip recession with some sort of bloody leadership, some humanity, some integrity. I don't agree with his politics but worse, I don't respect him at all.

Dorries is an idiot. But she is an MP, people have voted for her and she deserves respect, to be heard, and for her bill to be blown out of the water by a considered argument.

I'll fucking write the speech for you Cameron even though I am just a housewife and should probably "calm down."

It looks to me like he may have said it accidentally, but he then went on to use the reaction of the House to avoid responding to/to dismiss her question. Which he needed to, as her comment about showing Nick Clegg who's the boss had MPs on both benches laughing.
