My Late Hen (the Lovely Lily) was obsessed with the laundry. I'd be pegging out the socks, she'd be pecking the bag the socks were in. And making disapproving clucking noises - I never knew whether her objection was to do with my pegging technique or the fact I was pegging at all. Was she conforming to gender stereoptypes or was she telling me to shrug off the shackles of domestic servitude? Sadly, she pegged it herself before I could find out.
