I hate it and Im not starting a thread to debate about it because i know its been done here before, but i am wondering if people can please help me to find some facts about porn. Rather than personal opinions on it. Of course feel free to debate/discuss/share opinions on it Grin

I am wondering if there is any info out there about the effects of it,facts about pay especially men V women, the devastation it can have on those involved and such.

I feel really strongly but not very good and stating my case so much and so i am asking for help! I want info/facts to back up my argument. sorry if it sounds a bit silly Blush

hi littlesez, I hope you're OK

The figures all seem to be from 2005 or 2006, and compiled from lots of different (but credible-sounding) sources.

I'm finding the figures for women users quite hard to accept though:

What would be the best way to respond to somebody who claims that porn is the 'exaltation of mutual sexuality between men and women'?

Dittany, the link that you posted on the other thread has enough facts for me. You don't have to collect statistics about the effects of things like that. Just reading it in black and white in such stark terms must be enough for most people to realise this is wrong.

I used to be much more neutral about porn before I realised just what was in it - and I didn't realise until I read that (another time it was posted, a while ago) - even having seen porn it didn't occur to me. Seeing it out of context is quite horrific. It makes you wonder what is wrong if that in context it's so much less noticeable. (Though I haven't seen porn as extreme as described there).

SmellsLikeTeenStrop · 08/03/2011 19:02

I asked him if he would be interested in a really good time-share offer Grin

SmellsLikeTeenStrop · 08/03/2011 19:06

And then I asked him what the above acts mentioned by dittany had to do with mutual sexuality.

Just FYI if you are going to look at facts and figures, you'll have to do better than David51's link which is the same old discredited bullshit that's been doing the rounds for more than 20 years.
Zillman, for instance, was a right-wing nut whose 'sexual callousness as induced by looking at porn' boiled down to such things as believing it's OK to remain childfree/be homosexual/not want to marry.
ANd half the quotes on that link are attributed to someone called, er, Paul. Who appears to have made them up anyway.
