I'll start. The tampon one from a few years ago where man & woman are sitting in an outside cafe, and she drops a pink wrapped min-tampon from her purse, and he hands it back to her thinking it's a sweet. FFS. If he doesn't yet know she menstruates, he's prob not ready for a sexual relationship.

Your turn..

There was one on last night where a woman came in wearing a little black dress and was all 'Look, I am sexually available and I clean my kitchen' can't remember product, was too busy shouting at the telly.

howdidthishappenthen · 15/11/2010 21:14

Fuck me. That is wrong.

The Coke Zero one (a few years ago) where there was a list of things men didn't like. One of them was 'girlfriends with a five year plan'. I actually complained to the ASA about that.
I just couldn't bear the characterisation of women as people who were somehow trying to trap men into having children. etc.

I don't recall what the reply was but I know the advert was pulled.

ISNT · 15/11/2010 21:16

chocolatestar I saw that! It was about how a magical new cleaner makes a special barrier so next time it's easier to clean. (the ad obviously worked I can remember that).

I also wondered WTF she was doing cleaning grime off her hob when she was all done up and obviously about to go out. Who on earth would get all dolled up and then think "actually, I'll just clean the cooker before I go"? Bizarre.

Pogleswood · 15/11/2010 21:17

She should just slam the freezer door on him though- sorted! Grin

Pogleswood · 15/11/2010 21:17

Sorry - things have moved on - that was about the gangster polar bear...

ISNT · 15/11/2010 21:18

Well I don't care that I libelled WKD, it may as well have been them. Sue me

DanceInTheDark · 15/11/2010 21:23

The freezer polar bear is just freaky - is he some kind of gangster bear or is he trying to lure her into bed??

I hate the Go compare ones.

And a regional one we have here (Granada) about local markets.

DramaInPyjamas · 15/11/2010 21:25

Just realised that this thread is in Feminism so PLEASE ignore my last post - I thought it was just a general 'What advert do you hate?' thread - so my post about the creepy Evian babies doesn't really have a place here (I still hate it though!)

Yorkie - "It's not for girls".. Am pretty sure the side of the wrapper also said "Don't feed the birds" and similar slogans ??

SpringHeeledJack · 15/11/2010 21:30

oh God there's just too, too many

diet coke with the puppets

coke zero/pepsi max with the arsehole and his arsehole mates tricking woman into shagging him

oh, and the one on the Apprentice last week. With the cleaning product Angry

I swear it's getting worse. It's not post feminism, it's shite

wukter · 15/11/2010 21:32

Just read that back I am not grumping and stomping at you ISNT, it's the Corporate Media Machine of the Patriarchy I have a problem with Grin

hogshead · 15/11/2010 21:32

Yorkie adverts with the slogan `its not for girls'.

Its a chocolate bar ffs.

Pogleswood · 15/11/2010 21:41

Oh,how could I forget the Yorkie adverts.I haven't bought a Yorkie bar for years because of that slogan. (well,ok,I'm only human and have a very occasional lapse, but it was my favorite chocolate once and I bought it a lot...)

SpringHeeledJack · 15/11/2010 21:45

me and my sis used to get Yorkies when they came out- and chop each chunk into 8 equal parts to make 'em last longer

(honest, we did. You should have seen what we did with a slice of Battenburg)

never again, mind. They are on the banned confectionery list, right up there with Nestles

wukter · 15/11/2010 21:46

Banned confectionary - where feminism meets dieting.

SpringHeeledJack · 15/11/2010 21:49

no, it just means Double Fairtrade Wink

ISNT · 15/11/2010 21:51

teehee @ feminism meets dieting

MrsColumbo · 15/11/2010 21:51

Absolutely hated the ad (was it for air freshener or loo cleaner or something) where a woman has just had a baby and her 'friends' turn up to coo, but end up getting all judgemental about the smell in her house. She's just had a baby, ffs.
Oh,and the Herbal Essences advert - I refuse to buy it on the basis of those vile ads (and the fact that I hate the smell).

howdidthishappenthen · 15/11/2010 21:54

Ah - now, the Yorkie ads I'm OK with. It's the ones that try to sell me things by insulting me that make me want to punch the TV.

OP posts:
spiderlight · 15/11/2010 21:54

The 'OMG your soap dispenser might have GERMS on it!!!!' one winds me up - FFS you're only touching the damn thing because yo're about to wash your hands! I'm finding the 'festive' John Lewis ad with the poor dog in the kennel out in the snow a bit upsetting as well :(

spiderlight · 15/11/2010 21:55

Oops - I didn't realise I was in Feminism either... Blush

ISNT · 15/11/2010 21:57

Totally agree that the "soap dispenser germs" ad is shit. Really shit. Grin

ISNT · 15/11/2010 21:57

Damn posted too late Grin
