Undercover Boss - C4 at 9pm

CEO of Hooters goes undercover

Will be interesting to see what it is like...

OP posts:

Can't we focus all this negative energy at Hooters rather than each other?

This is an age old trick, isn't it? If we're busy fighting each other, we won't be fighting against the misogynists!

Guardian article on the Undercover Boss of Hooters

dittany i dont need to answer your direct questions.you infer many things from that.that is your wish.but you arent mnhq you cant ask posters to account for posts, explain content, nor can you try set tone for how a topic operates

you, like me, alice et al are a poster on a thread.you dont have any special dispensation or privileges to seek the what and why of particular posts

nor are you a moderator or whom is feminist and whom is not

i didnt watch all the programme but i got the gist[i suddenly realised why i dont watch the telly]

well-the thing that concerns me is-
if hooters become big over here-other places are going to be looking at them and doing the same thing.
like-it all becomes competition.

Footlong · 11/10/2010 02:43

You're an intelligent woman but your posts tonight portray you as blinkered and foolish.

Tonight?????

Sadly peope like Dittany are the face that many people see of feminism, and she does feminism no favours.

Sakura · 11/10/2010 07:58

GOd can people not get over the fact that there are some people in the world who have a different world-view to the status quo.

If you want to have lots of people agreeing with you that a large portion of American culture is NOT extraordinarily misogynistic then you'll find lots and lots and LOTS of websites out there agreeing with you. WHy do you have to come to one of the only places on the net that has different ideas about the world, and bring the status quo here?
It's boring.

And I agree with everything FootLikeATractionEngine says

sparky159 · 11/10/2010 08:54

i dont know enough about the American culture to make any comments on it but i do think the American Goverment are misogynisic.
so is ours.

it worries me that as our goverment are busy licking others arses and looking towards them
our welfare system is going to end up the same.

we will have short term food vouchers for the poor and we will have to pay for treatement in hospitals.or die by the roadside.

we can already see the problems the working poor are having in this country also and
in some parts of America the working poor are having to stand in ques to get food given them and they are losing theyre homes.
this will be us soon if people dont stop patting each other on the back!

Sakura · 11/10/2010 09:05

Exactly, sparky. Saying the American government is misogynistic [which it is] does not mean saying that other governments aren't. All governments are to a certain extent (except perhaps Iceland)

When it comes to porn culture, the US is particularly misogynistic. WHent it comes to war-mongering the US is particularly so. WHen it comes to the gap between rich and poor the US has one of the widest. All these things are problems for women worldwide.

sparky159 · 11/10/2010 09:23

Sakura
[when it comes to the gap between the rich and poor............]
yep-i agree.

its scary isnt it-this is why[i feel]that we
need to look at the bigger picture instead of us all looking at the media and then bickering with each other over who is more deserving and who can afford a big telly ect
when we are doing this-the goverment is laughing as they have us where they want us.

Dittany
[...or native American rights........]
well said.
people might want to start off reading about
the trail of tears[if they havent already]
