Little red/brown bits coming outbof my vagina

Sorry if this is to much information. I'm 44 possibly perimenopausal. I'm also on the Mini pill. But the last couple of months I have experienced a slight itchy feeling inside my vagina. And bleeding on and of. But 3 or 4 times whilst in the bath thousand of these little red/brown bits have come out of me and its freaking me out ! . Maybe I should add that about 9 months ago I did have a internal scan because I was spotting all the time and all was okay. Is this a sign of menopause? Sorry about the typo on the subject I couldn't seem to edit it

Are they like clots? Mini clots?

Sunshineandrainbow · 03/12/2024 22:42

Have you left a tampon in?

Emgtwinkle · 04/12/2024 17:54

No definitely not.

Possibly your lining shedding.

Brown is oxidised, old blood.

Are you having periods?

As always, go to docs for check up.

Emgtwinkle · 04/12/2024 17:57

Hi thanks for the reply @mumwithallthebooks No they are almost like little flaky bits of skin. It's so wierd and freaking me out. Since this happened in the bath yesterday I have since had a really heavy period today.

Are you having regular sex? I notice at 45, when I m having enthusiastic sex (particularly just after/ at the end of menstruation) it can cause the lining to fully shed and even dislodge any old (brown) blood.

The shedding of the lining goes a bit haywire during perimenopause.

I don't have any medical training ... but I think you should see a Dr., or book for a smear test. You'll then get a proper diagnosis, and any necessary treatment. You're worth it - get looked at!

Emgtwinkle · 04/12/2024 18:01

Hi thanks for the reply @CreationNat1on Very rarely I have periods because I'm on the mini pill. Yes I will make an appointment at the Dr's. It takes so long to get in!! .

@CreationNat1on no sex at all as my husband is seriously unwell. I'm not in any pain at all. I'm also up to date with all smear tests etc (although they don't look under the microscope anymore unless you have HPV apparently

@Jillybloop393 I'm not even sure how to describe this to the Dr's receptionist. But yes I will make an appointment.

I had this when I passed a fibroid but if you had a scan before it won't be that. Maybe just your womb lining. I used to have that when I had a bath too. But we haven't had one for a decade so now it tends to be clots in the shower tray.

Emgtwinkle · 04/12/2024 18:15

Thanks @Doggymummar that puts my mind at rest a bit. That's what I was thinking but your mind wonders to the worst.

Good girl. Hopefully it's nothing much at all, but it'll put your mind at rest if you've been checked out.

Harshtruth1111 · 04/12/2024 20:13

Is it like coffee grounds.
Please call 111 and inform them of your symptoms. Don't delay.

Emgtwinkle · 04/12/2024 21:23

@Harshtruth1111 No I wouldn't say it looks like coffee grounds. I will make an appointment tomorrow for sure.

Hey
Just wondering if you managed to see the GP and what they said?

Emgtwinkle · 05/12/2024 18:57

@Harshtruth1111 No not yet. I have an appointment the end of next week.

Did you ever get any answers as to why this was happening?

Emgtwinkle · 18/12/2024 22:50

@Louise121806 Not yet I have an appointment on the 30th . I have spoken with the Dr on the phone and he wants to see me but my locals Dr's are quite slow at getting us seen. I will definitely give you an update the minute I know. I'm just hoping it's just another perimenopause symptom.

So an update. I saw my GP on the 30th. He wasn't sure what it could be. He had a look and saw nothing obvious wrong and he also took vaginal swabs. I got those results back today and they are normal so I am being referred to gynecology. Fingers crossed it's nothing serious but it's still happening unfortunately.

OP posts:
OurDreamLife · 03/01/2025 19:17

Next time it happens I would take a photo so you can show the gynaecologist.

Emgtwinkle · 03/01/2025 22:28

Yes good idea. I will definitely do that.

OP posts:
Louise121806 · 03/01/2025 23:54

Does it happen in the week after your period? Or just randomly?

Emgtwinkle · 04/01/2025 08:32

It happens randomly. Leading up to this I hadn't had a period for years because I've been on the Mini pill to stop heavy periods.

Hey did you ever figure out what this was?
