Itchy outer vagina

Noideawhatimdoing40 · 05/10/2024 22:12

I keep getting intense itchiness where my pubic hair is. I’m not pregnant-not been near a man in 5 years plus. Thought it may be my shower gel but changed back to my regular one and it’s still itchy. It’s not stubble rash itch either. It’s not constant, just starts randomly. I’m 40. Is this a peri symptom 🙄 any suggestions, it’s horrible!

Looked for lice?

washing powder been changed?

RoseLattice · 05/10/2024 22:13

You might need a steroid cream.

coffeeneeded · 05/10/2024 22:13

Omg. I could have written this. Also 40

I'm currently thinking it's the fault of my aged knickers... 🤢 bought some new ones and the pain has stopped..... but it's only been a few days

🤷‍♀️

Sandysoles · 05/10/2024 22:14

Outer vagina?

EveryOtherNameTaken · 05/10/2024 22:15

I think peri. I had it awful.

Outer vagina?

Vulva

as well you know Hmm

Isitreallythiscrap · 05/10/2024 22:19

I think peri. I'm 44 and have been itching around my labia/pubis for a while and not had sex for several years, had clear health screen so nothing sinister. Peri causes all sorts of weird things.

Scutterbug · 05/10/2024 22:20

I say peri too. It’s not uncommon when hitting that age unfortunately!

Mumof2girls2121 · 05/10/2024 22:38

40 had the same thing reoccurring. Went and bought thrush oral tablet seemed to stop it - for now anyway!

HowYouSpellingThat10 · 05/10/2024 22:39

44 and also had this.

But I have also noticed the toilet roll is bloody scented. Loads of them seem to be.

Why would anyone do this. I do not want bloody lemons on my lady bits. Surely no one does.

Might be worth checking you've not picked up similar in error.

Of Panorama fame?

Overtheatlantic · 05/10/2024 22:43

The outer vagina is called the vulva. And yes it could be a sign of peri menopause.

Overtheatlantic · 05/10/2024 22:45

Vulva

as well you know Hmm

Seriously? You’re calling out someone for correctly naming a body part?

Dawevi · 05/10/2024 22:45

I get this, I assumed it's menopause.

tolerable · 05/10/2024 22:49

paper toilet? my ma sent industrial sized box of crap stuff at lockdown. never have i ever experienced such torme t.turned out am very allergic to bamboo....since then every bloody pper toilet previously deemed ok sems to hve chnged their recipe.

Piccalino3 · 05/10/2024 22:49

I get this too and it's bloody annoying. I'm 45, presume it's peri related. Fun times!

Bigearringsbigsmile · 05/10/2024 22:51

God yes! In the middle of the night usually! Horrendous! Also meno age

Ketchupmunchies · 05/10/2024 22:55

For those debating the correct anatomical term, if OP is talking about her pubic hair presumablyi she is referring to her mons pubis and not her vulva/vagina at all.
Sounds v annoying either way - and it’s probably peri as everything else bloody is 🙄🙄🙄

Bigearringsbigsmile · 05/10/2024 23:06

The mons pubis is the bit at the front. The outer labia has hair too - in between your legs. This is the vulva. It gets itchy.

No, for calling them out for being a smart arse I expect .

OP definitely make sure your loo paper isn't scented , stop using fabric conditioner, wear cotton knickers and be wary of plasticky sanitary towels. Only bland soaps too.

Outer vagina?

I didn’t know how else to describe it 😂😂

Sunshineandrainbow · 05/10/2024 23:16

Gp and get checked at GP
Could be lichen Sclerosus

tolerable · 05/10/2024 23:19

regardless,wrap a iceblock double in pillowcase.contact gp

margegunderson · 05/10/2024 23:38

Two possibilities - one is peri or meno. I have this when I need to use more oestrogen. Can be in the pubes or vulva. Other possibilities are if it's vulva only then it's still low oestrogen and you use local oestrogen cream or pessary, or that it's an autoimmune condition affecting vulval skin called lichen sclerosis. This is a nasty one, often goes undiagnosed, can cause fusing of labia and clitoral hood and very occasionally leads to cancer. Strong steroid cream helps keep it under control.
Whichever one it is OP good luck and it's really time you learned the words for your own anatomy. Outer vagina doesn't mean anything and that's one reason you're finding it hard to work out what's happening. Women being encouraged to use cutesy or inaccurate words for vagina, vulva, mons etc is just damaging long term.
