Accidentally put pessary applicator in urethra

Pessaryproblem · 07/09/2023 14:50

I was trying to insert a Vagifem into my vagina but I inserted it into my urethra. I registered it being painful and feeling wrong and at the same time a gush of urine came down.

There was a tiny bit of blood when I wiped.

The pessary ( small tablet) didn't go into the urethra, I think the urine flushed it down.

I'm not sure how I managed to do this, only I was in a hurry.

I'm worried I'll get a bladder infection?

Can anyone advise please.

Thanks MNHQ, thanks to the other menopause soldiers who can relate.

As for how I did it, I usually just lube it a bit, aim and fire. My vagina has always been in the same place, I use the pessary routinely twice a week.

I've never bothered to look for my urethra, I've had zero dealings with it in my life, apart from having a catheter after my section.

Anyway, I'm still more than surprised that I managed to do it. I can only say I had a busy half hour afterwards cleaning the carpet with biological washing liquid, hot water and bicarb.

Thanks all.

If you're a repeat troll hunter, they will ban you eventually. They don't do it for just one time.

I got a time out (not for troll hunting) asked why, and they emailed me with a string of quotes from my posts that had been reported. So I'm guessing it something like five troll hunts and you're out.

Also 'did ye, aye?' is intensely irritating, so no sympathy here.

Sorry but how can you not know where your urethra and vagina are? It's like not knowing where your mouth is an accidentally sticking a strepsil up your nostril.

Wow, so rude. It just happened to me which lead me to this thread while I look at anyone else’s experience of it happening to them.
the waxy little pessary with pointy end and applicator, yes, it does find its way in there and hurts like hell. Prob is all insertions can feel like that when menopausal, hence the need for the pessary in the first place.
So bloody annoying to read comments like yours when you haven’t a clue.
