Accidentally put pessary applicator in urethra

Pessaryproblem · 07/09/2023 14:50

I was trying to insert a Vagifem into my vagina but I inserted it into my urethra. I registered it being painful and feeling wrong and at the same time a gush of urine came down.

There was a tiny bit of blood when I wiped.

The pessary ( small tablet) didn't go into the urethra, I think the urine flushed it down.

I'm not sure how I managed to do this, only I was in a hurry.

I'm worried I'll get a bladder infection?

Can anyone advise please.

I've inserted many a catheter when I was a nurse OP and many a pessary and I really can't see this being a thing unless you have an unusually large obvious urethra, you know like a penis ?

Also how can you not know where your vag is?

What you say you've done is like going to have a mouthful of food but accidentally shovelling it into your eye 😂

Pessaryproblem · 07/09/2023 15:26

Thanks 1AnotherOne, it's stinging a bit when I urinate.

I've reported my own post, so mumsnet should be able to confirm I'm genuine.

Thanks

Tbf the vagifem pessary is very small, not like a 'normal' vaginal pessary. Apparently the female urethra has a width of 6mm and if you have vaginal atrophy, which you presumably do if you are using vagifem, inserting it properly is pretty sore anyway.

Pessaryproblem · 07/09/2023 15:30

Thanks. It is Hrt, maybe all these young posters haven't seen how thin the applicator is! 😄

How big is your piss hole? 🤔

I wouldn't worry. Drink plenty of water and then go to a pharmacy/ GP if you get symptoms of a UTI.

It's definitely possible and I believe you OP.

Whatswhatwhichiswhich · 07/09/2023 15:40

Just how…? Your urethra is nowhere near where you’re meant to stick those. Also how the feck did you even find it to stick one there?!?

Sorry in my shock, forgot to say I hope you’re ok. I’d be going to the doctor myself Flowers

Ollifer · 07/09/2023 15:42

How do you not know which hole your vagina is? I used to have to self catheterise and I honestly don't know how you could think that tiny hole is your vagina...

The location of the urethra varies from woman to woman for some, it Infront of the vaginal opening up to a cm, for some women it's at the vaginal opening, or slightly inside it- it's one of the reasons some women are more prone to UTIs than others.

A vagifem applicator is much thinner than a canestan pessary for thrush, and about the same size as a catheter.

Lovemusic82 · 07/09/2023 15:46

I’m trying to imagine how an adult female could get the wrong hole 🤔. Just how?

Adding to the 'did you aye' how the chuff did you fit this in your urethra? Look at the size!

Sorry but how can you not know where your urethra and vagina are? It's like not knowing where your mouth is an accidentally sticking a strepsil up your nostril.

purplesky18 · 07/09/2023 15:50

This has just made me gasp and cross my legs, ouch OP thoughts and prayers to you.

Afternoon all. There's a lot of troll hunting on this thread, which is against our TGs and which only serves to derail and disrupt threads. As ever, if you have concerns about a thread or posts, please report them to us directly rather than resort to troll hunting.

The OP has been in touch with us directly about the thread. While we can never vouch 100% for anyone here, what we can confirm is that the OP has indeed been around here on the boards for many years without causing us any concern. For that reason, we're leaving the thread standing and will be deleting all the troll hunting that has been reported to us.

OP, we hope you get things sorted and that you feel better soon. Flowers

saraclara · 07/09/2023 16:02

Thank you MNHQ.

Vaginal atrophy sucks, and if you troll hunters are lucky enough not to have it, at least give those of us who do, a break. It's no fun and yes, our bits no longer work like yours do.

weebarra · 07/09/2023 16:08

I agree Sara. Having had a surgically induced menopause at 37, I wish I could go back to the carefree days of pain free sex!

MarigoldMaud · 07/09/2023 16:16

Well I hope you will be ok OP. Who knew?

You only have to scratch it to cause a tare not insert it. Christ

In that case I'd like to apologise for my earlier comment. I've no idea what it's like, but it sounds awful. And that's coming from someone who's downstairs was torn back to front during childbirth but I'm very lucky to have no major issues a few years on.

Thanks. Apologies are rare here! And to be fair, I didn't know it existed until my last smear test made me go through the roof (I'd never had any discomfort at all, previously). The pain, and her difficulty in getting to my cervix even once the speculum was in, made the nurse instantly refer me to the doctor.

Fortunately that was scheduled to be my last smear ever, due to my age. And I'm widowed and not after another partner, so don't have to worry about having sex either!

But yes, it wasn't nice to see all the spiky troll hunters. It felt like they were mocking my experience

BindyCeale · 07/09/2023 17:16

I had a thread a few months back regarding the stabby fucker applicator. It's evil.

MyHornCanPierceTheSky · 07/09/2023 17:19

Would also like to apologise op!

BlastedSkreet · 07/09/2023 17:23

Bloody hell op, I am sorry I doubted you!

hope you are ok x
