Breast dimple

IHateLegDay · 11/06/2023 10:52

This morning I've noticed an area of my breast that is very slightly discoloured and slightly dimpled.
Has anyone had this before and it not be cancerous?
I'm going to make a doctors appointment in the morning but I'm panicking now!

Definitely go to the GP. I’m sure there’s lots of other things it could be, but yes, that could be a sign of a malignancy. Tell the receptionist in the morning and you will be seen. All the best.

Weenurse · 11/06/2023 13:13

Any dimple in the breast can be a sign of breast cancer in both men and women.
Please see your doctor

BG2015 · 12/06/2023 19:39

Hope you've seen your GP today OP

MyFuckRationsAreDepleated · 12/06/2023 19:50

Yes I’ve had this and it turned out to be ok. But I had to have all sorts of tests it was takes very seriously. Hope you’re getting referred x

IHateLegDay · 13/06/2023 09:26

I have has this, and it was fine, it turned out to be nothing worrisome, but was taken very seriously. Definitely see your GP ASAP but don't panic. All the best.

IHateLegDay · 13/06/2023 13:55

I went to the gp and honestly, she didn't seem overly bothered. She felt the area and said she's happy with how it feels and said she's guessing it's a blocked duct (I haven't breastfed in years) and to keep an eye on it.
I'm not sure how I feel about it tbh.

Can you feel anything underneath the dimple?

Can you feel anything underneath the dimple?

I don't think so but not entirely sure as my breast tissue is fairly lumpy anyway.

Hi i have something like this and I am getting so worried.this dent seems to appear only when I squeeze my arms by my side. On raising the arms above my head it is not visible. I have history of diagnosed fibroadenoma on the same side by biopsy in 2015. I am really panicking now. Going to see gp as soon as I can.can anyone please advice from experience what it could be ? Can it be due to fibroadenoma? Just to tell again it only occurs when squeezing my arms by my side.

Thank

Ztha · 10/07/2023 20:29

Can anyone please let me know?
I have been to gp and she said she cannot see anythingv, slighr discoloration could be due to blocked pore ane definitely didnt find the dent/dimple. She said for reassurance she has referred me to the breast clinic. She also said with arms hanging freely to the side while sitting and lying down she cannot see it , also did say that whe thinks I have lumpy breasts on both side. I will await my referral in two weeks . I am hoping eveything will be ok

IHateLegDay · 11/07/2023 19:46

@Ztha I have no advice but hope all goes on at the breast clinic xxx

OP have you seen the gp again?

A friend had dimpling but wasn’t referred as the GP couldn’t feel anything, it was later found that she had breast cancer.

Any changes should trigger an urgent referral.
If the dumpling has gone, great. If not please see a different GP and ask to be referred.

(Sorry, don’t want this to come across as alarmist, and it’s still likely to be nothing, but any breast changes must be checked)

Hi,
No I've not been back. I'm just keeping an eye on the area and if it doesn't go or it changes, I'll go back.
Tbh I don't have much faith in my gp surgery so it probably wouldn't be the worst idea to get a second opinion. 🙈

Don’t leave it too long.
My friend trusted her GP and her cancer ended up quite advanced, although she is fine now and has been for several years.

Ztha · 11/07/2023 23:09

Sorry to hear that your friend was diagnosed but good to know she is well now.
Would u mind telling what other symptoms has she had ? And how old was she when she was diagnosed ?
I have been referred to clinic in 2 weeks as I insisted on referal bht the gp was sure she has not seen any dent/dimpling. Atleast I will have reassurance with second opinion at clinic and also with mamo/ultrasound to see .

CampCroc · 12/07/2023 08:55

She was early 40s when diagnosed. She had no other symptoms, just an area of dimpling with nothing to feel under or around it.
I saw a photo, and have had a google to see if I can find similar.
This photo is most like it, but hers was smaller and less noticeable.
The first GP she saw made out she was wasting his time. After a few weeks she went again as it was still there, saw a female GP and was urgently referred.

How did you get on? I went to my gp 2 years ago when pregnant as I didn’t know if it was a dumpling or a stretch mark. The doctor looked at it and said it was a stretch mark. Two years later it’s still there and I just want it properly checked so have bloods tomorrow and an emergency breast scan within two weeks. This is my dimpling trying to stay calm!! It’s so hard and such a worrying time.

Mdowle · 12/09/2023 16:33

How did you get on?

Ztha · 12/09/2023 20:32

Hi
Thanks for asking
Mine went well and turned out to be nothing at the site at my appointment clinic with ultrasound scan. If yous is there since 2 years and still the same and you were told before as well that it is a stretch mark trust the doctor. But you are doing the right thing to get it checkedout for peace of mind. Wish you luck with your appointment

Healthfreak95 · 23/09/2023 20:14

@IHateLegDay did you ever go to the breast clinic? I’m awaiting an appt for a dimple!

IHateLegDay · 23/09/2023 20:16

I went back to my GP but she still wouldn't refer me. I hope all goes well for you xx
