Postmenopausal vaginal bleeding again!

FelineUK · 30/05/2023 20:13

Almost two years ago had a uterine polypectomy following investigation of pmvb, I've now got pmvb again! Also a pinching sensation in my left-hand lower groin now and again. When it started last Thursday I also had diarrhoea for a few days but that's now cleared up. Very occasional bleeding, light-brown. Of course I'm panicking about it being cancer so have got a call with the GP tomorrow. Grandmother - cervical cancer, mother - bowel cancer. Just wanting a hand-hold.. 😞

That is good news @FelineUK.

Not so sure re my consultation. Endometrium is 11mm 😬. They took a biopsy on Saturday so I am in waiting and hoping mode.

FannyFanackerpan · 12/06/2023 13:24

I’m also waiting for the results of my third biopsy from a hysteroscopy. Doctor said it all looked OK to her. She managed to whack in a Mirena coil while she was ferreting about, and I’ve had continuous spotting since then.

fuckmyuteruslining · 12/06/2023 14:36

I'm hoping they can do that for me @FannyFanackerpan. Ironically spotting has been loads better since last weeks bloodbath but realistically it's only going to start up again plus there's the bloodbath issue. I think I need to get the coil in asap assuming nothing more drastic needed.

FelineUK · 12/06/2023 16:10

God willing all will be ok and whatever is causing your PMB can be easily explained and resolved and nothing sinister. Keep us posted.. xx

That was for @PutThatDownNow , but for all of us going through this.. prayers for us all, ladies.. xx

Thank you @FelineUK. Fingers crossed for all of us.

FannyFanackerpan · 12/06/2023 17:25

I asked for local anaesthetic this time and it was so much better. The last time I was hanging upside down screaming for about an hour as she tried to get through my cervix. This time it was quick and painless.

I’d been nagging a friend of mine to go to the doctor with post menopausal bleeding for over two years. She finally went as the bleeding wouldn’t stop and has been diagnosed with stage 3 endometrial cancer. 😭 I grilled my gynae about this while she was putting in my Mirena and she said that endometrial cancer is very slow growing and only found in around 6% of those who have post-menopausal bleeding, and it’s usually stage 1 when it’s discovered. My friend is now having to go through brachytherapy and chemotherapy, and she keeps saying she wished she had listened to me and gone to the doctor sooner. But hindsight is a wonderful thing to have.

fuckmyuteruslining · 13/06/2023 11:11

All fine this morning. Very easy procedure. She was in the uterus before I knew it. All looked ok and biopsy taken. Coil in. Fingers crossed but I can't overstate how positive my experience has been.

PutThatDownNow · 13/06/2023 20:28

Sorry to hear about your friend @FannyFanackerpan. This is a whole new world to me and I would probably have ignoredbfor a while we're it not for Dr Google. Pleased that your experience was better this time.

I would ask for an anaesthetic next time. I hadn't expected a biopsy and had no idea how painful it would be.

Fingers crossed for you too @fuckmyuteruslining. Pleased it was straightforward and positive sounding for your appt.

Kissedbyfire1 · 14/06/2023 21:09

Hope everyone is ok this week and getting sorted, especially you @PutThatDownNow with your bulky endometrium!

PutThatDownNow · 16/06/2023 09:11

Thank you @kissedbyfire1. No news yet. Perhaps bulk orders take longer 😕

PutThatDownNow · 16/06/2023 18:43

So I managed to get hold of biopsy results. No cancer. There are polyps which they propose to remove via urgent hysteroscopy I think (haven't had the letter yet but this was read out from secretary). So relieved.

HappyKatieA · 16/06/2023 18:45

Excellent news @PutThatDownNow, hope the polyp removal is quick and pain free!

fuckmyuteruslining · 16/06/2023 20:19

Great news EnvySmile

fuckmyuteruslining · 16/06/2023 20:20

Sorry no idea how that green face got in there! BrewShockHmm

fuckmyuteruslining · 16/06/2023 20:20

Bloody hell I didn't click on that Brew!

PutThatDownNow · 16/06/2023 21:33

Grin @fuckmyuteruslining

Thank you @fuckmyuteruslining and @HappyKatieA. Let's hope everyone else waiting gets positive news too.

So pleased for you 🥂 I’ve gone through something similar myself recently and I know how distressing it is to wait for results.

Love to everyone waiting for results and treatment too.

FelineUK · 17/06/2023 16:07

@PutThatDownNow fabulous news! Polyps are very common and a quick procedure to remove. How are you having the removal, GA or local? Sometimes they can grow back but not always. I'm hoping mine is another polyp.

My letter came through for next week. Reading the leaflet about PMB they say during the consultation you may have an examination and biopsy of the endometrium. No bloody way Jose, not without going under!! (So traumatised by a hysteroscopy, I actually didn't realise until recently but that's probably why I've been avoiding having a smear which was due last month.)

Hugs and prayers for all undergoing these gynae problems x

Thank you very much @ReginaPerrin . The waiting is awful isn't it? It was only once I had spoken to the hospital about the results that I really appreciated how bad the waiting was. I was refreshing the NHS app almost constantly.

Thinking of you this week @FelineUK . Time to get you over the line now. I completely understand what you say about the biopsy. It was very painful for me, and I didn't really get any warning, just was told that he was doing a biopsy and then only after I squealed was told 'it may cramp a bit'. Not exactly a consultation. I would ask for some pain relief next time. Or take some in advance.

My hysteroscopy is due to be under local anaesthetic. This is all new to me. I had a couple of D&Cs for miscarriages, plus an ectopic. This is the first polyp. Appreciate the reassurance, thank you. Fingers crossed for you this week.

FelineUK · 21/06/2023 20:50

So.. womb lining has gone from 6mm to 8mm in just under a year. Have to wait now for a hysteroscopy under general. Consulted talked about fitting a Mirena coil but I'd rather take progesterone orally.. and certainly don't want to be faffing about every few months being poked and prodded up there! Could be because of my weight, hormonal issues, haven't had any kids.. etc.

Well not happy to be on the bench but happy to sit with you if you see what I mean.

LOL.. glad of the company @PutThatDownNow 😀 What date is your hysteroscopy?

Sheesh.. what we have to go through!

It is a weird world isn't it? No date yet. The letter from the hospital with results has only just arrived. I would have been climbing the walls if I hadn't spoken to the secretary last week.
