I'm aware you aren't all doctors but i can't go to my surgery until Monday now but I have this big a** lump on my stretch mark on my public area and its SUPER painful. It feels very big and all my other stretch marks seem to be very swollen and painful too. Any ideas what this could be?

Ouch 🤕

I would guess maybe an ingrown hair, looks uncomfortable. Have you tried a hot compress?

TheGriffle · 03/03/2023 20:38

I think it’s just a cyst or a boil that has appeared on your stretch mark making the area around it a little inflamed.
I had one recently on a stretch mark where my waist and was rubbing. I’m a sporner so couldn’t help but pick at it, nicked it a little, gave it a squeeze then slapped some yellow metanium and a plaster over it. It soon healed within a few days but has left a dark spot over my stretch mark. My surrounding stretch marks were very itchy and red.

Try hot compresses, if you have any mag sulph and a plaster I’d fry that as well but keep an eye on it as if it gets more infected/inflamed you might need to see a gp to drain it or antibiotics.

Looks like an ingrown hair from where you shave. It's probably not recommended but I've been known to go at an ingrown hair with a clean needle. You can just sort of pull the top off and dig around a bit 😅

MrsWojadobakowsky · 03/03/2023 20:44

Looks a bit blistery, like the start of Herpes, is there fluid in there?

MumOfTwo1520 · 04/03/2023 20:56

So it's definitely worse today. The little black dot in the middle of the lump was where I nicked it with a clean needle this morning to see if anything would come out but it didn't. Took this photo this evening it's extremely painful now.

Get a hot flannel on it

MumOfTwo1520 · 04/03/2023 21:12

Got a flannel on it now

@MumOfTwo1520

I had a boil in that area recently and it was very painful. It got so large that when i went to inspect it , it just burst when I lightly touched it. It was incredibly satisfying !!!!

I think pop a hot flannel on it and see how it goes - try not to pick at it and see if it bursts on it's own in time

CheeseDreamsTonight · 04/03/2023 21:23

Hot compress over and over, keep making it hot again when it cools down

creekingmillenial · 04/03/2023 21:24

ouch! Ring 111 and get an emergency doctor appointment.

DeoForty · 04/03/2023 21:25

You could try some magnesium sulphate on it and cover it. But yes, I've had something similar on a stretch mark too. I think it's just an ingrown hair, or a boil from where the skin rubs. Sore though.

DD0 · 04/03/2023 21:29

Sorry, I have nothing constructive to say but I saw the picture before reading and I just thought you had a really hairy nipple/boob. Hope you get it sorted!

SecretCoconut · 04/03/2023 21:31

Ooh that does look sore! Sorry to disrupt the thread but every time I see a thread like this, someone always recommends magnesium sulphate - where does one get such a thing? I don't really know what it is.

DNAshelicase · 04/03/2023 21:31

Put it away love

everythingisgoingup · 04/03/2023 21:32

Ingrowing hair

Warm bath and squeeze while in the bath 😉

iloveyankeecandle · 04/03/2023 21:34

I'd be squeezing that now

Calistan · 04/03/2023 21:34

Just leave it alone you don't want it getting infected. I had similar but on my face lately aghh, they go away on their own.

Dotcheck · 04/03/2023 21:37

Hot flannel and keep changing it out.

Then squeeze 🤣

DoNotEatPickles · 04/03/2023 21:43

You can get magnesium sulphate from a pharmacy SecretCoconut, at our local one you have to ask at the counter. Not very expensive. It is a ointment and comes in a small tub. My GP recommended it for a cuticle infection.

WhatWhereWhenHowWhy · 04/03/2023 21:47

Whenever I get a cyst in that area I do hot flannel, as hot as I can handle, then scrub repeatedly each day to try and free the trapped hair (mine is usually due to stupidly using a non fresh razor and I get them every 4-6 months when I forget how bad an idea this is)
The worst ended up bursting but then I just had a hot shower head on it, scrubbing and loose cotton knickers for a while

TurnipSurprise · 04/03/2023 21:49

I get them on stretch marks occasionally so I feel great sympathy for you!

Hot flannel but don't squeeze it.

gingergiraffe · 04/03/2023 22:13

Put some antiseptic cream such as germolene on it and cover overnight. Tape around so that it stays moist. By the morning it may have burst or be ready to if gently pressed. This works for me when I occasionally get nasty boils.

MumOfTwo1520 · 04/03/2023 22:14

So after taking advice to use a hot flannel, it's finally burst. (YUCK) I don't even need to squeeze it it's just draining. But now it's burst, shall I keep using the flannel or put a plaster over it?

Phew! Maybe some antiseptic cream? Bet that feels better
