Heterogeneous lesion and waiting biopsy results

Hi, I posted about a while ago due to ongoing symptoms over the last year, I have bled everyday for a year (pre menopause) bright red blood and clots, waited 5 months for a scan which detected something which they couldn’t determine either polyp or other it said.

last week back hip and pelvic pain escalated to the point where I couldn’t walk properly and I was haemorrhaging blood, I was admitted to hospital in the gynae ward. On the first day they attempted biopsy but too much blood so sent me for another scan as the consultant felt that the scanners could pin point it better than original scan.
Scan came back and they said my uterus is expanded mid to lower section by a heterogenous lesion, may be a pendulacated prolapsed submocous fibroid or a polyp on a stalk but they need to rule out cancer. They managed to take a biopsy the next day, I was in distres and crying not at the biopsy but because I had to walk from my hospital bed to get it done and in extreme pain. Morphine wasn’t even cutting it I just need whatever this is out!

i was discharged so on bed rest at home on various opioids I’ve signed for a hysterocopy plus polypectomy plus myomectomy depending what it is. My discharge letter says I’ve been booked for one but not given a date and no idea of how long just told I’m on emergency list. I’ve also been given tablets to slow the bleeding.

has anyone experienced similiar? How long does biopsy usually take and urgent hysterocopy? I’m really upset this has been left so long and has now escalated to this point.

Hewbean · 13/11/2022 11:45

I haven't had any experience of this OP but didn't want to read and run. I'm sorry you're having such gynae issues 🌷 hopefully someone with more experience can come on and give you a steer.

thehoundschicken · 13/11/2022 11:55

Thank you hewbean for messaging, feeling a bit lost and useless, just want back to normal

No problem thehoundschicken. Could you ring the clinic tomorrow to ask about timescales?

Are you in pain today?

thehoundschicken · 13/11/2022 14:46

Yeah still in in pain , on dihydrocodeine and tramadol paracetamol and transmexic acid. I have to stay completely still or can still feel it and if I move a certain way it's agony.

Starting to sink into depression as stuck in house and missing out on plans so just feeling sorry for myself having to rely on husband and everyone to do stuff until it's fixed x

How are you today OP?

thehoundschicken · 14/11/2022 17:32

Just the same sadly managed to get dressed and lie on couch for a few hours but back in bed, been watching the phone all day in case they phone with my biopsy results or the appointment. Just need to get through to Saturday and I can push at my consultant appointment.

Thanks for asking, just can't wait to be back to normal and dreading this continuing any further past the next two weeks with Xmas etc

I didn't see this post in time today.

If you call central appointments at the hospital and give them your hospital number (on letters from the hospital), they can locate your file and tell you of any upcoming booked dates.

It all goes on the appointments system.

If there is no appointment call the surgeons secretary and leave a message with them.

Don't wait and worry, it will be better knowing and mentally preparing.

Sorry you are going through this.

thehoundschicken · 14/11/2022 18:05

Thank you, I'm not sure if I know the surgeon unless it's the same person as my consultant?

I had an appointment booked with the consultant on the 19th November prior to me going into a and e and being admitted. I seen two different gynaes in there one who admitted me after a look and scan and one next day who done the biopsy and said she was adding me to the emergency list but couldn't confirm when it would be.

A completely different gynae discharged me and has put on the letter hystercopy has been booked but don't think it has. I do know I've still to go to my appointment on Saturday with original consultant so wonder if maybe she will be doing that instead.

I'll see if I can find a number for appointments office if I don't hear anything tomorrow and see if i can find out, thanks for your kind message

thehoundschicken this is miserable and worrying for you 🌷I wonder if they are doing the hysteroscopy on Saturday. You must be really tired.

newspecs · 14/11/2022 21:33

just adding my sympathy soundshorrendous!

thehoundschicken · 14/11/2022 21:38

I really hope so, I'll update here. Thank you it's just nice to off load really I think, even if no one knows the answers.

Thank you really appreciate it. Think I'm going to go demented if I can't get back to routine soon and off all these pills.

I was just thinking back to this time last year when I'd discovered a breast lump - I had a three week wait for an appointment which then had to be moved because it was thought I had Covid. Turned out the tracers phoned me back to say it was a false positive 🙄. By that stage I isolated myself from my family because I thought I WOULD get Covid and the appointment would get moved again. I was going nuts at the end and I wasn't even in pain. Keep strong OP ❤️

thehoundschicken · 15/11/2022 09:40

Oh no waiting is the worst, covid has a lot to answer for I hope it all turned out ok?

Yeah I think I would be able to handle it a tiny little bit better if I was able to work or distract myself a bit , instead I've researched every part of my ultrasound I can and about 100 pages of the Macmillan website because I'm stuck here 😕

Hemmy62 · 15/11/2022 11:16

Yes it was just a cyst in my case.

As one Dr Mumsnetter has said in the past, when it comes to test results don't meet trouble halfway - in other words don't catastrophism. Hard I know.

Try to rest or listen to music. 💐

thehoundschicken · 15/11/2022 11:32

Ah I'm glad.

Thank you, very much similar to no point worrying twice about something and definitely makes sense,

I have kitty cuddles to distract me in the meantime! Thanks for your messages.

If anyone does see this and can confirm how long there womb biopsy results took or how they found a polypectomy or myomectemy with only local please let me know so I can prepare in the meantime!

thehoundschicken · 21/11/2022 20:25

Hi, thank you for messaging. Much the same most pain under control but limited to what I can do or how much still 🙁

Went to appointment on sat with consultant and nurse came through to tell me they were sorry and had booked me into the wrong clinic and should have just been direct to the hysterocopy clinic. She said they were doing the letter there and then and should be next week or weekend but still not had anything fingers crossed.

OP posts:
HugHeart · 22/11/2022 12:30

thehoundschicken for the love of God ...😳

I'm so sorry you've been messed around like this. I've not had a hysteroscopy but do take painkillers if the letter advises.

Any news on your original biopsy?

thehoundschicken · 22/11/2022 14:20

I know, I phoned up the appointments office today and they said no letter as they are still waiting on a space so was basically lied to.

I've sent a huge email to patient feedback reluctantly but I can't take anymore of this, I've not had biopsy results and mentioned this on here to and they Saturday would have been my chance to ask about them and deal with one consultant instead of bits and pieces of my symptoms being scattered about.

I've included praise for the nurses that looked after me but it's been a mess in relation to admin and joining up or services. My symptoms have been going on 14 months, from the first ones , they've found something they think might be a polyp or a fibroid but not sure, no one has ruled out cancer I'm in pain and still waiting for even an estimate of when this nightmare will end Bear

Thank you for checking in feel like I'm going crazy
